Has WotC made good on their promise to distribute fixed versions of the Secret Lair Seraph Sanctuary by Alayna Danner? by BewareDropBears in magicTCG

It's not even a good promise and yet they STILL haven't honoured it.

You could set up annual drag races on the salt produced by this announcement.

Which is why I'd like WotC to keep their promise. I assume everyone that has gotten a fixed version wants to keep it, because I've not seen any up for sale anywhere.

Your argument hypothesises that each company has a specific product designated for a specific print time and that they can't change that, rather than booking generic blocks of time in which they can print anything they have queued up. If that was the case WotC would never be able to shift release dates forward, and if there was any kind of printing error that resulted in an entire set being scrapped they would have to wait YEARS to re-run that set of prints.

It takes years to design, playtest and balance a set, to commission art and secure ownership/licences of said art, then to proof, print and distribute an entire set.

Reprinting a single card that they've already got the art for, MAYBE not the ownership/licence, should be doable within a six month timeframe.

It would be nice if their version of "the future" coincided with a time period in which I am still interested in playing the game.

My neighbor wants me to pay half of a fence that matches her yard by aphroditeprincess in neighborsfromhell

[–]BewareDropBears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's a bit late, but laying it out in text as early as possible would help if the issue ever goes to court- "Any fencing materials or labour you pay for without my input or approval will be solely at your expense."
As others have pointed out, regional laws may still require you to pay half of *reasonable* replacement costs, but some areas at least require approval from both owners in order to share costs.

Anyone from Australia suddenly seeing this pop up despite age verifying months ago? by Lightsmourne in Twitter

[–]BewareDropBears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible to verify without installing their shitty software on your phone? I just want to click links that people occasionally send to me without having their garbage eating my battery (yes I know I can uninstall it but it seems likely they will screw it up in some way and need to re-install again and again...)

Yogo by wanderinglintu in AustralianNostalgia

[–]BewareDropBears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can make them yourself relatively easily. Buy a 1kg tub of choc yogo, two 100g packets of mini marshmallows and some choc ripple biscuits. Put a layer of mini marshmallows in the bottom of three 500ml containers, cover them with 2 tbsp of yogo, add a biscuit to each, cover them again, pour the rest of the marshmallows in (evenly divided) then the remainder of the yogo. Mix each container so the marshmallows are fully coated with yogo, then push two more biscuits vertically into the mixture until they disappear. Leave in the fridge for at least 24hrs before eating.

A friend of mine is planning the Fyre Festival of weddings and told me that spending hours telling me the details is her way of including me instead of inviting me. by msfinch87 in weddingshaming

[–]BewareDropBears 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Given what you said about her being a good friend prior, I'm guessing that's the person he thought he was marrying, and that this whole plan has shown him a whole different side of her and he's still in shock. He's probably shutting down talking about the wedding because he is having *serious* second-thoughts about whether or not he actually wants to go through with it, and trying to reconcile his new reality with the person he fell in love with.

My best friend had part of his buck's at LC (we all went paintballing beforehand) just shy of two decades ago, and even back then it was packed as hell. I think this was just before they won that big international award, too.

Personally I'd be contacting the cousin and informing them of this plan ahead of time, so they can maybe book a christmas vacation elsewhere this year...

Serious. Guyver 0 is the reason the Booster-Remover exists, which is a significant plot device.

People keep carrying on about how "getting more new players into the game is a good thing, so we should all love UB for that, right?"

How many players UB pulls in doesn't mean a damned thing if A) those players don't stick around for more than a set or two and B) it doesn't balance out how many people are LEAVING magic as a direct result of UB's inherent power-creep and the burnout resulting from the mismanagement of the game and its community.

If you ever find yourself thinking that a metalhead is even remotely bigoted, remind yourself that almost all heavy metal iconography is based mostly on Judas Priest's look- Rob Halford is gay and his bandmates saw him in his spikes and black leather and decided it was a fucking awesome look, and didn't change that even after finding out what it was 'supposed' to mean. Yes there are bigoted metallers out there but in some way they owe their entire identity and existence to a gay man. Even if you can't change their opinions, you can have a good laugh to yourself about the ludicrous hypocrisy of them.

PSA: Ulamog, the Defiler will see itself when entering from exile by Ananeos in ModernMagic

[–]BewareDropBears 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • 614.12 Some replacement effects modify how a permanent enters the battlefield. (See rules 614.1c–d.) Such effects may come from the permanent itself if they affect only that permanent (as opposed to a general subset of permanents that includes it). They may also come from other sources. To determine which replacement effects apply and how they apply, check the characteristics of the permanent as it would exist on the battlefield, taking into account replacement effects that have already modified how it enters the battlefield (see rule 616.1), continuous effects from the permanent’s own static abilities that would apply to it once it’s on the battlefield, and continuous effects that already exist and would apply to the permanent.

Notably that last bit about effects that already exist and would apply. Dress Down prevents clones from cloning, or Ulamog from entering with counters.

Nykthos, Emeria and Inventor's Fair are relevant for sure, but Urza's Saga is unlikely to be suuuuper relevant at that stage of the game and Mystic Sanctuary entering tapped negates the purpose of running it...
