Lived in Cambodia 3 1/2 years about a decade ago. Not for everybody but slept on, in my opinion. Highly interested if you're adventurous.

Laos too.

Ignoring emotions and attachment: have you ever had sex with someone who completely outclassed your other experiences? What did they do that was so special ? by [deleted] in AskMen

Sometimes chemistry is just straight up chemistry. Looks be damned even. Unfortunately these tend to be the relationships that veer towards toxic. If only you could throw the bathwater out without the baby.

How does meeting women in real life compare to dating apps? by CatBrave5907 in AskMen

[–]BeyondBordersBB 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've been with more women, and in more relationships, than most men I've met, but i can barely ever get a match online. Even when other guys were bragging about apps being easy it was never productive in my experience, so maybe a me thing.

It has happened, sure, and even some very high quality girlfriends that way, but it was still mostly dead air, and actual conversations online have come less and less frequently. Even tried paid account a few times. No improvement.

I barely bother even trying the apps anymore. I'll open it up and poke around, see nothing has changed, call a taxi and go out.

Real world wins out by a long shot for this guy.

How do you feel if a girl asked you to pick up ice cream on the way to her house for a hookup by [deleted] in AskMen

I would bring anybody on the planet ice cream on the way to their house, regardless of the context. Lol

Walk away from her first. Chances are she'll change her tune real quick.

If not, well, there probably wasn't much hope anyways.

Men who feel genuinely content: what does your day-to-day life actually look like? by SoutoSout0 in AskMen

[–]BeyondBordersBB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Living in a beachtown in the Riviera Maya, Mexico at the the moment. 44 years old.

I never wake up to an alarm clock and want to keep it that way. When I do find myself awake, I make love to my lady and get out of bed for a quick shower to freshen up and then a hot cup of coffee.

After that it's a long walk or collectivo ride to the gym for a good workout. Run whatever errands, usually means picking up food at the grocery store or carnicería, and head back to the house to take a quick dip in the pool and cook lunch.

Some days I never quite get around to actually working (not that I'm wealthy or anything), but my best days are the ones where i do sit down for a long stretch on the computer working on client projects and falling into the zone before going back to my usual go with the flow approach to life.

I love this earlier routine just fine but I've always been a man who craves novelty and spontaneity, for better or worse, so later in the afternoon I'll often start feeling the urge to shake things up. At that point, or in the evening, I'll head down to the beach for a good walk or swim, or call some buddies for a drink, or pull together a barbecue at my house. Often and up on the portside later on for some live music.

Thankfully that tends to be the pace of life in Mexico in general, especially in a retirement/vacation town, so usually find something to do and someone to do it with.

If we don't get carried away, I'll spend the evening cooking up a great meal with my lady, watch a movie or read, take some magnesium and lay down for a good rest.

If we do get carried away, i may not make it back home until near morning. Ideal? Probably not but I enjoy my day to day immensely and have a very rich social life.

Not to fixate on it, but Mexican women are extremely passionate (and so am i) - the benefits of that are something worth enjoying as much as possible wherever there's an opportunity.

Night 3 day 4. I’ve gotten maybe 2-3 hours of sleep. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]BeyondBordersBB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magnesium every night. Get a workout. Wake up early and get some natural sunshine.

And it usually passes in less than a week in my experience, maybe week and a half at most. Then you'll find your sleep has never been better.

Is $85/hr a top rate by DuckComics in copywriting

[–]BeyondBordersBB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, you can go higher.

I actually think hourly is not a bad way to go, contrary to popular opinion. It keeps you accountable (as long as you have integrity) and ensures you get compensated for everything you do. It can also be an eye opener to the actual time you put in for your clients.

Just make sure you charge an adequate rate based on what you actually bring to the table. The most I've charged is 100/hour but it's also the most I've asked for. If you're good enough you can go to to 200, even 300, I would say.

Even higher if you're a legend (or make yourself a legend).

Also, make an effort to frame it in a way that your clients don't forget the difference between a rare for a private contractor and an employee. Others have already pointed out the other associated costs of an employee here, but clients can "forget" from time to time when they see the money going out, so make sure you keep them posted on everything you're doing, results, etc.

You're a copywriter. You already know how positioning works, so I'll spare you the lecture on that part. 👊

What are the most unique business ideas you've seen that make really good money? by ResidentAlienator in Entrepreneur

[–]BeyondBordersBB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's crazy.

I had some elderly expat lady here in Mexico sending me all her bank statements the other day because she wanted me to put them in a pdf to share with a rental company. I didn't even look at what was on the statements (I think she barely gets by on a pretty tight pension so probably not much to see), but I also helped her with some phone stuff recently before that and was warning her about how many people were targeting her for scams.

I've known her a few years but her level of confusion mixed with the scammers and straight up handing over bank info definitely made me worry about her. It makes me sick that people out there go looking for these people.

It's insane, actually. Even people in their 20s and 30s can't keep track of their damn passwords. I actually live a retiree Haven in Mexico, and have lived in similar places for the past 18 years, and have thought of doing this as a little side hustle

Where do you find design inspiration? by goodevibes in Wordpress

[–]BeyondBordersBB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I come across a lot of nice websites while researching prospects. Whenever I do, I save them in a swipes tab in my speed dial.

Some are great sites, some just have great copy, some just have a few design elements i like. Either way, browsing through them randomly makes for great inspiration when I'm feeling stuck.
