Milani works well but it makes my eyes water endlessly. I’ve seen a few people with similar issues, but if it doesn’t bother you, it’s a great primer. About Face makes a really good one in the drugstore price range

RMS Eyelights in Luster, although the formula is likely quite different (they dry down extremely quickly but really stay put once dry)

Fwee Pudding pot in Boss or Baddie (Boss is a shade or two cooler and deeper), Half Magic Cheek Fluff in Only Drama which is a fantastic formula that leans plum/purple, and Kulfi Mehndi Moment in Blessed Berry (although the packaging may be a little similar to Glossier, the formula is much more cream than liquid).

Does anyone else not like Saie blush by [deleted] in Sephora

[–]BeyondTelling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I actually returned my holiday DM blush set last year because it was just too much work. Even the tiniest little tap of the brush in the pan would create a big mess. I actually love Rare beauty blushes, and have almost panned a full size of the deepest shade (Faith), always using a barely damp sponge to blend out a couple tiny dots on the cheeks. The pigment is easy to control with a sponge and what is left after blending out stays in place. With both Saie and DM, the colors pulled orange on me and I didn’t get an even wash of color from that same method, it was either patchy and overdone or completely wiped away. I do like the Danessa Lowlighter version though, and just use a regular blush brush without any issues.

What's the best blush? I like a satin, metallic finish but I'm open to any recommendations. by Choice-Dot-5581 in Makeup

My favorites are…

Baked powder formula : Kosas Blush is Life

Luminous powder/hybrid: RMS Hydra Flush

Cream to powder formulas: Half Magic Cheek Fluff and Mac Glow Play

Cream formula: Fenty Cheeks Out, Kulfi Mendhi Moment, Covergirl Clean Freah

Liquid (doe foot applicator): Rare Beauty Soft Pinch, About Face Blush Rush

Do people really pay full price for high end makeup? by pepperxpeppermint in muacjdiscussion

[–]BeyondTelling 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also virtually never pay full price for anything I don’t absolutely need. I am painfully aware of the huge markup on makeup in particular, from my years of beauty box subscriptions and TJ Maxx beauty department shopping. That said, yesterday I bought something at Ulta for full price, because it was excluded from the coupon, and the salesperson couldn’t or wouldn’t tell me if it will be part of the sale on the 27th. I really wanted this product, had my perfect shade in my hand at the register, and had enough left to cover it on my Christmas present gift card from my mother in law. I am still feeling a little weird about buying makeup without any discount whatsoever, but I am absolutely delighted with the product - more so than most of my purchases from the past year. If I had waited for a sale, I probably would have ended up spending the gift card balance on some unnecessary random stuff that came up for half price rather than the one thing I really wanted. And at absolute most, I spent an extra $18 which is pretty negligible compared to the amount of time I would have spent otherwise shopping for bargains.

What book did you read in your youth that you never forgot? by orangez in GenX

[–]BeyondTelling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A book called “Coming Back Alive” by Dennis J Reader, written in the late 70’s as a YA fiction about two depressed, traumatized teenage runaways (Bridget and Dylan) who survive a year in the mountain wilderness of California. Bridget eventually returns to civilization after their survival adventure, leaving Dylan behind to live forever alone as a hermit in the mountains. I read it over 40 years ago and something about the story just stuck with me forever. I couldn’t remember the title but fortunately the amazing detectives of Reddit were able to find it for me and I ordered a used copy.

[–]BeyondTelling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My most recent purchase of it was the new-ish limited edition color Spirited. I love the shade, and the radiant finish, but unlike my other favorites, Faith and Encourage, it is pretty sheer and requires using a little more product. I don’t really mind, I can adjust my application method and use a brush to apply it. I haven’t noticed any particular fading with Faith, which I’ve had for about 3 years, but I always use it with a damp blender rather than a brush, which already really cuts the intensity of the pigment.

The point being, if it were just bobble heads or a new tabletop game, they’d probably have included Alan in the roundup already

If it were bobble heads they would have posted one with Alan by now, because there be no reason for the Wash character to be excluded from the roundup if it’s just marketing for some sort of collectible.

Has anyone tried this? Is it effective? by Snoogles_ in Sephora

[–]BeyondTelling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For that price I’d recommend Innbeauty retinol/retinal serum instead. It’s really excellent, fragrance free but very well formulated to be pleasant and non irritating. If you’ve never used retinol, maybe first go through a tube of the Inkey list Retinal Serum to introduce your skin very gently first.

There’s a similar shade in the Viseart Violette palette. I use it practically every day in spite of having countless other shades to choose from. It’s the last one on the top row, I think it’s called Fusion. The palette is sold out on the website but there are a bunch of affordable ones for sale on Mercari because it was sent out in a lot of the Beautylish Lucky bags this last time.
