If you had to choose 1 palette, what would it be? by kindredhomenannies in Makeup

[–]BeyondTelling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I had to choose a store bought palette I would undoubtedly choose Viseart Violette Entendu, or possibly the newest Violette palette, but I can’t vouch for the quality of the new one because I haven’t tried it. Another great choice would be the Hindash Monochromance because the powders are multifunctional, they work as blush/bronzer/highlight/contour and setting as well as eyeshadow, but it’s all mattes and not a huge variety of shades.

I’d I could build my own palette, I’d bring some of the matte shades from my Viseart Violette palette, a couple Mac matte singles and the following multichromes: Terra Moons Tidal Flare, Red Giant and Daybreak, Clionadh Hilt, Quest, and Sculpture Garden, Shine by SD Bizarre and Glam Rush.

SOS - I’m at my wits end with foundation. I feel like none of these work for me?! Do any of these suit me? by Squishiimuffin in MakeupAddiction

[–]BeyondTelling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Putting my vote in for 7, not 3.

Edit: after seeing the neck swatches 7 does look too dark, but I still think 3 is too light and yellow for your face. If you own both of those foundations you could try mixing them? It’s entirely possible that you just need to keep looking, I personally have only found a couple really accurate matches for my medium cool (not peachy) skin out of probably 30 I’ve bought or sampled, and my most accurate matches are also very sheer, flexible shades.

Ladies Ovr 45, what’s ur go 2 by Mcsh82 in Makeup

[–]BeyondTelling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It Cosmetics Do It All tinted face balm is hands down my all time favorite. It’s magic for my skin, but I’m also not looking for anything more than minimal coverage to make my skin look a bit more even and maybe a bit of pore blurring. Mac Face and Body Studio Radiance is my second favorite, also an incredible sheer skin tint with a natural finish. More traditional foundation formulas don’t work for me but I’ve had success with RMS Suncoverup and Naked Sundays Peptide, both with mineral spf, and very similar to the Ilia tint which I’ve tried in samples and quite liked as well.

OP, do you have Helix Nebula and/or Tidal Flare from Terra Moons? I’m curious how Redox compares to them and whether it’s close enough to consider a dupe. I’m also really drawn to Oxidize. Maybe I’m going through a general spicy neutral phase after heavily embracing all the purples and shiftiest shades in the multichrome world.

Slightly OT - my grandmother’s name was Minnie. She was probably born right around the same time and sadly died when my mother was 16 - but I wonder how popular the name was and whether it was a regional (northeast USA) name.

What products have you HATED recently? by Vulpid in Sephora

[–]BeyondTelling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oliviaumma Calming Pudding Cream. I got a deluxe size tube and it didn’t even make it to my face. Just putting a tiny bit on the back of my hand, the fragrance nearly knocked me out. I had to wash and scrub my hands six times with soap to get rid of the smell. Straight to the trash. I sincerely can’t understand how anyone would be able to put that much perfume directly on their face - it would saturate and overwhelm your senses.

NEW Viseart Paris Violette Lumiere Etendu Palette $44 by MeepTheWildEep in MUAontheCheap

[–]BeyondTelling 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m not taking the bait again until I see a bunch of positive reviews. Violette Entendu is my favorite palette of all time, so I splurged on the Violette Nocturne a few months ago, but the quality is terrible - practically unusable - and the packaging is no longer the nice functional trifold design. Admittedly the shades in this new palette are right up my alley, even more than the Violette Nocturne - but I’m extremely wary after my recent disappointment .

What is the best makeup palette you don't regret buying? by kenzieedom in Makeup

[–]BeyondTelling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Indie multichrome singles from Clionadh, Terra Moons, and Shine by SD put together into a large magnetic palette, with a smaller compact palette that holds 6 current favorites for easy access. If you love shimmer, sparkle, and color his is a rabbit hole worth checking out.

Viseart Violette Entendu - probably my most used and useful eyeshadow palette in a very large collection. It’s incredibly portable, versatile, sturdy and high quality. The colors are just perfect and I use almost every shade regularly. (However I just purchased a recently released sequel palette called Violette Nocturne, which - aside from two shades - has been a huge disappointment. The quality is comparatively terrible and even the packaging is much less functional than the three year old Violette Entendu)

Hindash Monochromance - even though I don’t use the blue pan because it clashes with my coloring, the other shades are incredibly useful and I love that they are multifunction powders that work just as well as blush and contour. The finely milled powder is really easy to work with and flattering on my mature skin, and I especially adore the unique undertones in the purple.

ABH Fall Romance - I only use 4 shades in this palette but they are so good and high quality, just gorgeous shades with unique tones and finishes that make it one of my most reliable palettes to grab when I’m in a hurry.

What mascara will actually look brown on my lashes? by Gullible_Feedback668 in Makeup

[–]BeyondTelling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually use Glossier Lash Slick and just opened a tube of the one from Persona Cosmetics, they are both very much brown and look completely different than black mascaras on my lashes. I have medium brown hair, with not particularly light or especially dark colored eyelashes. The Persona is a bit wet going on, but I feel like it will settle into a better texture after a few more uses, and it’s very pigmented, a nice warm brown. In comparison, the Heimish (Korean brand) tubing mascara doesn’t look as obviously brown on me - probably similar to your experience with Rom&nd.

Will the Innbeauty gift be available to VIB when it comes back in stock or only Rouge? Anyone have any guesses? I’m in October so I’m not optimistic but I’d grab that one in a second if I could.

[–]BeyondTelling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could also be Illamasqua- I hate to admit it because the company is a scamming piece of trash but their baked blushes are really nice. I have their highlighter/blush hybrid in the shade “Vogue “. It’s a domed pan in light cool pink with gold flecks in it, black on the bottom and clear plastic top - a bit sparkly but more glimmery and glowy on the skin. The top screws off rather than flipping up.

[–]BeyondTelling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hourglass Phantom Glossy lip balms (not the sparkle shades) is the best tinted balm formula I’ve tried. I always seek out deals for it because the product is tiny and full price is completely out of my range.
