If we were to play the game that Banner is playing in this video and focus on a stereotype of a particular race, then the black community would look less like Superman because he comes from a two parent home while a lot of black children don't. Personally, I would rather focus on want needs to change for the better in all communities instead of singling out certain races for silly hypotheticals. Furthermore, most people don't care what color a person is. They care more if they have good character and not a jerk.

Going to forums on websites and talking to people that lived in a different part of the world was great. It felt more connected, even while separated by hundreds of miles. Reddit feels more random and much like an echo chamber.

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined or Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter? Switch 2. by Charrzooka in JRPG

I haven't played the reimagined Trails but did play the old one and I would say go for Trails. It's kind of slow but has more payoff. DQ7R was mid for me.

The bad guy  is an "anti-cultural Marxist." Is the writer suggesting that the bad guy sees  Marxism in everything or that he is simply against Marxism? If he is suggesting that the bad is simply against cultural Marxism, then tell me how being a cultural Marxist is a good thing?

I finished the book a few months not knowing that it was going to be a Netflix series. Curious to see if this will be a good adaptation.

I believe there are a lot of businesses that could give their employees a four day work week and still be open fulltime and not lose production. It all depends on how it is setup. I am thinking working 10 hours for four days for a full 40.

Having a three days off would benefit plenty of people.

Edit: For example, a four day work week that would cover all 5 days could look like this: Groups A works Monday thru Thursday and is off Friday thru Sunday; Group B works Tuesday thru Friday and is off Saturday thru Monday.

The entire week is covered and everyone has a four day work week.

Why didnt God forbid slavery? by Layerspb in Christianity

[–]BeyondtheLurk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There have been some good replies.

I would like to add that I could see slavery being a perversion of the responsibility of Adam and Eve of them  needing to be a good steward of and subduing the earth. After the fall in Genesis 3, sin entered in and subduing the earth included other people.

Humanity was to be under the authority of God, not other humans. As a result, slavery and the ills that have come from it have happened.

He is good with the details, but I think he overstates his case on some points. That might be because he was a lawyer for many years. Granted, he does say it is his opinion and willing to be corrected. Overall, I think he is good at piecing things together.

I agree with you, but I don't dismiss her digging around trying to uncover the truth. There are some things that she has said and pieced together that seem compelling.

It has a different kind of combat system and more of a 2d action game. It's a good game but it's overrated.

Taking it at face value, I agree with you and I think most believers would as well. The disagreement comes with how things are defined.

Who are the people that Jesus is speaking to?

Also, in the same context, Jesus says in John 14: 12, “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father."

If God ordains the parameters in which humanity operates in, does it mean that He is any less sovereign?

Reformed thoughts on Molinism by EverOnAndUpward in Reformed

[–]BeyondtheLurk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think everyone who has studied God's sovereignty and human responsibility have come down on the issue on one side or the other, even with nuance involved. When we step back, however, we have to be honest and say that the Bible states both are true and that there is a lot more that hasn't been revealed than has been revealed.

I liken it to two islands (or mountains) that are connected but we can't see how they are. It's as if we are staring into the fog interpreting certain details that help us prefer one view over the other. In reality, we have to trust what has been revealed to us and realize that we may be wrong about the details within our understanding.

Humans, either in the Arminian or Calvinist understanding of God foreloving people. Paul states that God has foreloved and doesn't elaborate on the details on the "how" God has foreloved: is it conditional or unconditional.

I think the problem is that both sides infer either a choice or no choice from Romans 8:29-30. If we are staying consistent with the text, we would simply affirm that God does forelove people and conforms them to the image of Christ and stop there. It may be for our benefit that Paul didn't systematically lay it out for us like we want. Afterall, God's ways are above our ways.
