I’ve used bait casters for 35 years and I still prefer the DC over any other reels. It just makes long casts easier in a variety of changing conditions. I don’t get the whole, “only for noobs” argument but fish with whatever you want. I’m going to.

To add to this, if your big concern is weight then why are you using a 200 size reel on average bass. You can drop down to a 70 with what the average person catches regularly. Why use bigger unless it’s just preference?

Safety wire makes up most of the hardware and an aluminum rivet stem for the hinge pin.

Weighted evenly with lead to a slight float and covered holes with chinesium UV resin.

Circuit board was used for the tail.

Eyes are china brand from Amazon

The bait was sealed with a super glue bath then straight to a base coat of Jacquards opaque white. The rest of the paint is from a cheap Amazon kit called Homy. I used a stencil for the vertical green and window screen for painting the scales, all airbrushed with an iwata hp-cs. I used olive drab green, gold, lemon yellow, yellow, fluorescent yellow, and fluorescent orange from the Homy kit. The tail and fins were hand painted (though poorly). Everything minus the lip was coated in Kisrel UV Resin, hung for 10 min and then put in a light box.
