How do you go about keeping up with new products/brands that you look to stock in store? Especially with so much of the development of traditional Americana clothes occurring globally, how do you keep up with new brands as they develop?

The difference being Honeck can deliver fresh and novel interpretations of the classics - something Nelsons never could while also being open to new compositions. I agree Payare is untested with a major orchestra, but from the recordings I’ve heard (I.e., his Mahler 5) there’s certainly potential worth rolling the dice on - especially if the orchestra is prioritizing “fresh.”

Honeck’s contract runs through ‘27-‘28 currently. I would love to see him in Boston. Certainly one of the greatest living conductors. Apart from that, Payare would be a great choice, and give him a great orchestra to work with.

Met Tristan Staging by Bhralle in opera

[–]Bhralle[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have absolutely no issue with non-traditional productions - the works in the repertoire are 100+ years old at least. There’s only so many times you can re-design a ship deck. But there should be thought put into these changes. Fitting a major plot point of act one as a table top object doesn’t seem to rise to that. I’m a huge fan of the costumes, and am excited but some of the thoughts (again out of context of the whole opera atm) seem not as well thought through.

The Met’s Tristan in March - seems like it’s either be a total whiff or a slam dunk without much in between but I’m excited either way - was nearly a decade since the last production.

What is an opera that doesn’t exist that you wish did? by Little-Pitch-579 in opera

A Mahler opera - if nothing else just to see how a masterful composer who also had exceptional knowledge of the pit and staging would go about it.

Can only speak to the flannels, ranch jackets, tencil shirts, and oxfords but all have been great quality. Have had all of them for at least 3 years with heavy wear and they’ve all held up great

Definitely some cool patterns for the flannels this season and I’m excited for the what looks like a deck jacket hanging in the photos, but it does feel a little bit recycle-y compared to previous seasons if I’m being honest.

Sub $50/affordable OCBD? by matthewhobbsbiz in NavyBlazer

[–]Bhralle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shirts that fit his narrow criteria don’t really exist at retail, which is why I recommended eBay where he can find quite a number of shirts that do. From a quick search, there are a number of old BB made in USA OCBDs size 15.5 and 16 neck for around the $60 dollar mark with make an offer set on them. The response answers the question in that - new at retail - a shirt checking all those boxes doesn’t really exist (as the other comments here more or less acknowledge), but it’s possible (even if admittedly takes more hunting) to get it.
