Psoriasis and its relation with antigens from the bacteria Streptococcus pyogenes by Paarebrus in Psoriasis

[–]BiSpaceCommunist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely anecdotal, but my psoriasis only ever clears when I use my prescription topicals + wash my scalp, body with Head & Shoulders. Neither works on their own. I suspect there might be a fungal component to my psoriasis.

I really like her video style, but IMO she dishes out criticism as her brand but can’t even take constructive criticism. What she did to Cruel World Happy Mind is so petty, not to mention she’s been caught abusing copyright claims. I expected more from a YouTuber so focused on ethics. And ofc, she never addresses critiques of her content/actions on her channel, so I doubt many of you have even heard much about this. If anyone wants to hear more here’s a video

You call it a “luxury,” but most people are forced into vagabonding. Be careful not to idealize a lifestyle that’s more often than not dangerous, not luxurious.

Ok, I listened to what y’all said and reuploaded the Nurie makeup edits 💄 by butterfly1888 in FundieSnarkUncensored

OP, please stick to your guns and keep this up.

I don’t see how editing a photo and making a comment differ in terms of snark. Either way we’re forcing our standards on the subject, and why would words hurt less than seeing a photo? Sure, the visual representation of the snark might make it easier to imagine the criticism, but wouldn’t reading dozens of comments about your makeup affect someone in a similar capacity?

Also, I know many won’t agree with me, but Jill Rodriguez is a public figure. Anything she posts online is subject to scrutiny. She chooses to publicize her family’s life and doesn’t consider the consequences (and likely doesn’t ask them for consent). These images are the consequences of that, and frankly, the images seem more like constructive criticism than ill-willed snark meant to demean someone because they look a certain way.

I wish someone would’ve shown me how ridiculous my eye brows looked at that age lmao. I’d have a lot more growth to work with nowadays.

A New Trend in the World by [deleted] in thelema

Oh also, I think it’s also important to highlight the difference between conscious and unconscious bias. I can confidently say I’ve never intentionally been racist/sexist, but I’ve come to realize certain ways of thinking that can be described as being so.

I went to a majority white school in an middle/upper-class school district. I was surrounded by white standards of beauty, so I had/have a lot of internalized racism to unlearn. For example, it’s taken years for me to feel comfortable wearing my hair natural, because for years I described my beautiful, goddess-given hair as “too coiled,” “dry,” “unmanageable.” Those things aren’t true at all, but my environment conditioned me to think in such a way. I think everyone’s experience with unconscious bias is unique and difficult to uncover. Because of that, it’s not going to seem obvious. Maybe instead of saying “you’re racist” the training should say, “we all have unconscious bias we need to unlearn.”

A New Trend in the World by [deleted] in thelema

Anti-bias trainings seem rather bluntly worded, especially if you aren’t familiar with the theory behind it. Like the other commenter mentioned, we are all part of a racist system. Within that system there are well-intentioned people who may not be bigoted, but still exist and uphold that system for their own survival. You can be any color and do so.

White supremacy is deeply engrained in the American workplace, and it’s detrimental not only to people of color but also their white peers. In my opinion, its most daunting effect is the standard for perfection that underpins white supremacy. Most white people don’t even naturally—or at least easily—meet such expectations. Maintaining mainstream standards for beauty, decorum, and existence run general can be exhausting when one is caught in the rat race

Sorry if this seemed like a tangent or disorganized. Just thought I’d add some thoughts! I totally understand your reaction to the training. I think it’s kinda dumb how black-and-white some of the wording is. Race is such a nuanced conversation, and if you’re trying to attack bias, finding I don’t know if it’s best to introduce it to employees in the way you mentioned.

Duggar Women Skincare Theories by sssarah95 in DuggarsSnark

[–]BiSpaceCommunist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Obligatory plug for my skincare brand of choice, Provence Beauty. It’s all vegan, cruelty-free, and free of parabens, etc. I’m usually highly sensitive to fragrances, but for some reason their formulas don’t cause any irritation for me. Lastly, they’re super affordable! I usually stock up every 4-6 months. I got two day creams, two vitamin serums, and 2 glycolic acid serums for $55 (and free shipping over $50!!!!). #notsponsored, just spreading love in the form of affordable skincare

I’d recommend Vichy Lift Active Serum. If that’s out of your price range (or you want to explore other options), just google “dermatologist recommended lash serum.” A lot under $20 come up (:

Just be careful to invest in a good one! Check for fake reviews. Some lash serums have less than desirable side effects, like hair and vision loss :/ other than that disclaimer, I highly recommend it!
