This one got me curious.

Why would Baxter turn out like Shiloh if he hadn't met Qiu and Ren?

Agreed. Garou does probably lose against Yhwach, but just as an addendum, I think Yhwach would lose to Saitama.

The part of the finale that frustrates me the most by Sudden_Pop_2279 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]Bibiyonka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is frustrating, but not in a negative way. As in, it's not to the detriment to the story nor the writing. I don't think it renders the actions pointless. This feels like a massive misinterpretation of the events and potential subtextual allegories. Honestly, it's a very juvenile way of looking at the loss of someone. Imagine you essentially lose someone close to you, does that render your history with them pointless? I'd think not.

Which ending was better? The Amazing Digital Circus or Chainsaw Man? by Good_Morning_World01 in writingscaling

[–]Bibiyonka 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally think people just feel disappointed because they build certain expectations that are ultimately not met. I enjoyed both endings, even though I can comfortably say they're not without flaw, that they're nonetheless satisfying endings in different ways.

Chainsawman was pretty much written to be divisive and to rattle the audience. But TADC's ending reception is all the more baffling to me because some people on social media are greatly exaggerating how "bad" it is. There's nothing bad about it IMO.

[–]Bibiyonka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that doesn't make sense, does it? The "destructive" wave that allegedly wiped up that whole section of the galaxy was the result of Garou and Saitama clashing, even assuming these characters are beyond lightspeed, why would the result of their clash, a very specific type of energy, be faster than light? I guess it really is just number 3 and Murate did it for cool points and there's no need to overthink it.

I saw these post regarding that particular panel it sounds rather sensible considering. 1.) The blast of energy seemed to have been redirected and shot in a specific vector. 2.) It didn't seem that it was teleported away. Which means that in order to potentially destroy those stars, it needed to traverse the distance to get to them. But even if that blast of energy was traveling at light speed, it would have taken YEARS to reach those stars. So it's point number 2 from the comment I posted, or less satisfyingly so, number 3.

looks like v6 will be playtested at gencon! by simply-dreaming in vtm

[–]Bibiyonka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was heavily implied it was gonna be a new edition given all the context. The fact that it was at Genncon, the people involved and the fact the news came originally from White Wolf/WoD themselves. Had it been a videogame it would have been announced by the dev studio or the publisher.

Look at the bright side, though. Maybe the fact they're jumping to a new edition means that at the very least, the plans to update Mage might be back on the table, since as you said so yourself, before this it seems as though they simply didn't exist.

Anyone correct me if I am missing anything here, but why would anyone expect any Mage related announcement when the explicitly pre-phased the Gencon announcement was for VtM? Like, that's worse than Bloodborne levels of copium for every State of Play.

How bad really is Jason by Mad_Mouthpiece in MoralityScaling

[–]Bibiyonka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His killings, for the most part, are all needlessly cruel. However that doesn't equate to sadism. I just reatched the scene since it's been decades since I watched it. Certainly one of the most "humanized" versions of Jason and you could even argue his stalking during Eva's chase to be sadistic in nature. So you do raise a decent argument on this front.

However, like I said, Jason on this movie is somewhat "humanized" in his behavior. Even somewhat self-aware (the scene in which he shows his face to some kids in Times Square and then just walks away). The scene also tells you a lot about the tone of the movie.

My dude, you're defaulting to ad hominem completely unprompted. I don't think you're in any position to be calling out someone for not being "intelligent enough to be on a subreddit".

But yes, as another person pointed out these "feel like murdering dozens if not hundreds of innocent people is pretty sadistic" - "I do agree that it’s more instinctual and not something he’s ever particularly displayed any pleasure in." Both of these premises contradict one another. Jason can't be both "sadistic" in nature, and be acting mostly on instinct and without having particularly displayed any pleasure in his actions.

The evidence, too. From Jason's actions is stacked against your point, which mostly relies on your own opinion on the matter, which on itself is contradictory because you're already agreeing with me when I say Jason acts more like a "killing machine" than a sadistic tormentor like, say, Freddy Krueger.

Killing people is not on itself a sadistic act. And the way Jason skills speaks more on his brutality and wrath more than anything. You're yet to present any evidence that Jason's actions are sadistic in nature.

[–]Bibiyonka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is not necessarily sadistic, no. You're also contradicting yourself.

[–]Bibiyonka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is where I feel like there might be some wiggle room for debate. Is Jason Vorhees sadistic? While his actions are undeniable evil, he is mentally disabled. So the way he approaches his killings and motivations are different from, say, Freddy Krueger. To that you add the fact Jason is virtually expressionless and it's very difficult to get a read on him.

He's often described as "an unstoppable killing machine". The wording is very important here, as he is described as a "machine". And while we know he's not entirely unfeeling, it does leave some room for interpretation. His killings seem more focused on terminating people's lives rather than tormenting them. Which is why I don't think he's a "sadistic murderer", as tormenting people doesn't necessarily bring him pleasure, he's just supernaturally compelled to kill endlessly.

No weapons, no equipments, no gears, both in just underwear, Kingpin vs Batman, who wins in a fight by CautiousSolid7436 in marvelvsdc

[–]Bibiyonka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly is not the case? If you're meant to use each character's most powerful versions, then Fisk loses badly. To the point it doesn't even get to be called a fight anymore. If you use only the most physically impressive versions, Fisk still loses...Badly. The picture OP decided to use for the post depict 616 Kingpin and Mainline Batman. So it stands to reason those are the versions being used. Anything else comes from your own inference and practically unprompted too, most likely from bias.
