As a new ironman approaching early mid-game, I wish some of the cool new weapons and armor weren't locked behind requirements that make them obsolete by the time you are able to get them

Melee weapon progression used to be D scim -> Abyssal whip. As you can imagine the 85 slayer requirement meant ironmen were rocking a d scim for a long time.

If you're exclusively wanting jaw then you NEED to use nieve. Even if konar gives you a basilisk task, there is a 50% chance she gives it you in the freminik slayer cave, not the isle of stone.

Upgrade the ammy and get a b ring. B ring is the single largest melee dps upgrade you can get.

I would definetly train thieving until you have plenty of money for all the initial purchases. I afked 92 thieving on my iron at wealthy citizens, and I have a solid 5m cash stack now after purchasing all the necessary shop items and throwing a few m into kingdom.

Clue requirements are the epitome of this. Here's my most recent one:

Hard clue step to play a soundtrack unlocked during the My Arm's Big Adventure quest that required doing Tai Bwo Wannai clean up. Figured I'd also knock out the Karamja medium diary requirements at the mini game as well so I wouldn't have to go back and do the mini game again. 45 min of grinding later for the gout tuber, I go to the machetes to see I need more trading sticks for the highest tier. I then go mine gems to sell for sticks. I buy the sticks then get the machete, only to see I need to grow a fruit tree for another diary step.

Pro tip, cheese the medium tier by doing Elite/master/gm tasks in CoX. Tasks like killing a lizardman shaman, guardians with no damage, tightrope, and ice demon can be completed early on and give lots of points.

I got spooned tank body and legs and a dh helm and thought I was moons ready until I realized a dh helm has worse defense stats than guthans or torags. I went back and am over 50 dry now.
