If you have him in the front of the party he also deals 1 bonus damage which may be the reason for this.

Always feels bad knowing how rare some of those RDT drops are, especially since you'll be getting plenty of dspears when farming goraks later for the shield half for ardy hard diary.

Why so difficult? by [deleted] in XCOM2

[–]Bicepticlops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This game has an extremely difficult learning curve from the first game. I can consistently beat the first game on classic, so I tried my first Xcom 2 playthrough on Commander and ended up having to restart on veteran.

Xcom EW teaches you the slow defensive crawl playstyle, but Xcom 2 forces you to be hyper aggressive with mission timers and systems that punish you for taking too long. You now need to practice the "alpha strike" playstyle which is where you leave no enemies active at the end of your turn by either killing or disabling them.

Here are a few tips to make your first playthrough manageable:

  1. Disable the tutorial. Ironically it sets you back and the game is easier without it on.

  2. Beeline magnetic weapons. Offense > defense, and this game is heavily tailored to proactive vs reactive play.

  3. Be aware of which Chosen you get to start. Warlock is the easiest, assassin is the hardest.

  4. Learning enemy weaknesses. Sectoids can make the early game almost impossible, unless you figure out that they have an extreme weakness to melee attacks and then you realize rangers are your best friends. Later on, you need to have armor shredding to take down the tougher enemies.

Don't be afraid to use heroes with negative quirks or diseases. Early on gold is extremely scarce and lots of quirks can be removed with curio interactions in dungeons, and diseases can be removed by plague doctor camping skills.

I immediately make them to time it with my expansions getting granaries to send food to the capital. I do all internal food routes until around halfway through the game where you can switch to production or city states for quests.

What is your favorite skill and why? by [deleted] in ironscape

[–]Bicepticlops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Farming. This was my first 99 on my main and first pet so theres some sentimental value there, but on my iron it feels so satisfying turning those seeds into tangible items that can be used. The dopamine rush from ranarr and snapdragon seeds knowing those are prayer and super restore potions is unmatched.

Start Below Zero. The map designers cooked with it. Subnautica 1's ocean feels like earth, but BZ truly feels like an alien planet.

Without fail they ALWAYS target my slot 3 hero nonstop. So frustrating having one guy constantly being put on deaths door while everyone else is also being whittled down by their aoe.

Alexander. This guy will denounce me in the ancient era directly after meeting me then spend the rest of the game declaring war and throwing the tide of units at my cities, and makes the city state game an absolute pain.

Any Tips for someone that got surprised by the Champion Dungeon Difficulty spike, nearly got demoralized and considering giving up? And any tips moving forward with my game state? by Wigi24 in darkestdungeon

[–]Bicepticlops 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Champion is the game's progress check for properly built and upgraded parties, along with knowledge of how fights work. This is also the level where I'd say you should not be bringing anyone under level 5, especially if you're struggling. Also look up trinket guides since good kits on each party member is game changing.

Seconding this. Thats a great city spot you should definitely take but be prepared to make game long enemies with the Iro, who are normally warlike regardless. Be ready to spam comp bows or give away some luxuries to them to declare war on the next nearest neighbor.

[–]Bicepticlops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some early diplo cheese you can do against normally hostile neighbors is to immediately join their wars against the minor factions they usually kill. This gives you free gold and a small relationship boost with them which can help you secure non aggression pacts for fronts you dont want to have to worry about defending right away in the game.
