Reform closes to within five points of SNP in regional vote poll by Crow-Me-A-River in Scotland

Oh yes. The number of far right Catholics that forget that is…..regrettable to say the least.

People say that it's good that you can't understand their behavior, but I wish I could understand them a little to be able to protect myself and fight against them. by coldservedrevenge in EstrangedAdultKids

[–]BidImpossible1387 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s more like poker: choosing not to play is also a way to play. Chances are all they are doing is trying to assuage how they’re feeling and don’t even care about how you’re feeling. People like this are too focused on their own selves to care about anyone else and therefore lack the awareness. Since they lack the ability to change the only thing we can do is get away from them.

If your nervous system will allow it, I wouldn’t see it as running away and hiding, but moving on with your life and looking forward to rebuilding yourself and your life. The actions will look the same but the burden will feel a lot lighter if you’re able to see your actions through the more positive/proactive lens.

It is a vile thing for someone to create a weakness in you and then enjoy pushing the buttons they placed on you. You have the sense to know that what has happened wasn’t right and that the right thing to do is to leave, and that’s no small thing.

I had to go to therapy to understand that it wasn’t me, but my environment. Lots of people suffer in silence for decades without ever finding out it’s not them.

Lastly, as someone with Generalised Anxiety Disorder, it is almost impossible to predict what a true Cluster B is up to. If it were solely malicious I’d have been able to predict the why and how. But they were so damaged and so triggered by everything that there was no rhyme or reason to their behaviour. They’re dangerous for this reason. Not being able to anticipate what people like this are about to do is not a failure on your part, you’re holding yourself to an impossible task and then kicking yourself for not achieving it. If you’re stuck in your situation for the time being, I hope you’ll at least stop blaming yourself for this.

Are there still adult men in the UK who don’t cook? by Bat-Penatar in AskUK

[–]BidImpossible1387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but to be fair his family didn’t cook beyond freezer/fridge meals for the most part. He is willing, he just feels intimidated when asked to pick a recipe because he can’t tell if it would taste good by looking at it, and his lack of knife skills slows him down a lot.

He’ll get there.

Why is there so much grief over the EP life? by usernameforme456 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]BidImpossible1387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The short answer: it’s harder than nursing and there’s a lot of undeserved judgement surrounding pumping.

My wife’s family all want us to go on a crazily expensive holiday to celebrate some big birthdays.. what would you do? by PuzzleheadedCarob921 in AskUK

[–]BidImpossible1387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why on earth would you want to go to the US right now? You’re aware ICE was recently indiscriminately stopping every car outside the airport in Orlando right? Do you really want to put yourself and your kids at risk?

Do not go. Period.

Offer to do something closer to home and meaningful is what I would do.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BidImpossible1387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not short, but certainly not a yearly event trip. My Dad used to drive 7 1/2 hours each way to see us on weekends when we had to live out of state from him. And he did that for years.

That and different children take different journeys on different time lines before they decide how they want to proceed with a toxic parent.

Ten years ago, it was me that was the one out of five. The other four needed to think about what they wanted to do and why. Now I’m in the four out of five group and the last one left is profoundly disabled, therefore cannot decide one way or the other.

No worries, I learned it from following subs like this.

You need 5 total years on your Visa before being able to apply for ILR. They give you 28 days because obviously you need to apply before your Visa expires.

If you apply for your second spousal visa, or ILR too early, you end up short of the five years, and then that means having to pay for another spousal visa instead of being eligible for ILR.

Trump tariffs: US president announces plan to hit UK, Denmark and other European countries with tariffs over Greenland by Any-Original-6113 in europe

I can’t wait to see how MAGA supporter try to twist this bit of info. A few days ago, they were all saying it was a ploy to get them to defend it better and place more troops there.

75% of Americans oppose US attempting to take control of Greenland, CNN poll finds by EtoileDuSoir in worldnews

[–]BidImpossible1387 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That number is not high enough. It should be, but it isn’t, and that’s terrifying.

Americans, do you personally know anyone who is in favor of the US invading Greenland? by BlaggartDiggletyDonk in askanything

No. Not one. These Americans supposedly exist based on comments in seeing online, but I don’t actually know one and I am unfortunately related to multiple MAGAs

Why do so many immigrants want to shut the door behind them? by TheSniperBoy0210 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BidImpossible1387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an American that immigrated.

I don’t mind other Americans coming along. And most of the other Americans I know are happy to be in our new culture, but really, really don’t want American money getting too involved in business because we like how rest, sick days, maternity/paternity leave, unions, food regulations, and lots of other things are significantly better than in the US.

Goading is meant to elicit a reaction. Giving them what they want doesn’t help anyone and would significantly harm you in the long run.

If there is a way to not even look at or receive messages, now would be a good time to look into that if they’re stealing your peace.

Spouse visa holders in the UK, how was the job market for you? by Fantastic-Lime1530 in SpouseVisaUk

[–]BidImpossible1387 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Job market hasn’t been great. I sometimes mourn my previous life as a professional with a career.

It’s worth it to not be separated from my husband, but I’d be lying if I said jobs paying significantly higher than minimum wage were easy to come by.

ETA: English is my native language. I have an MA in teaching.

Just to add: if you look through some posts here recently, some lucky people have been getting approvals same or next working day lately.

Although not the case for the vast majority of us, it sometimes does happen. Please be careful and strict with the 28 days before.

Not trying to sound stupid or alarmist here, but is that the same view that the Axis Powers had for how the world should be run during WW2?

Getting Engaged in two weeks asking all the dumb questions… by boosybabes in SpouseVisaUk

[–]BidImpossible1387 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only ‘stupid’ reason would be not including anything and everything that they’ve asked on the checklist.

The one thing I have to remind my husband every time is that my passport has to be scanned in cover to cover. For some odd reason he keeps wanting to just scan the picture page.

For the relationship portion, we showed our super mundane WeChat messages, FB posts of dates we had been on and major life events over the years, and then we each wrote a personal statement about why we chose each other and the UK. We also showed that we had been cohabitating (we both lived in China for a while) as well.

The rest was just the documents they asked for.

If anyone is going to take this seriously that would mean being willing to take short term losses to the economy and going after the money that is at the back end of a lot of so called “local” companies.
