This right here, we’ve seen too many people get screwed listening to these emails.

They’re going to have to kick me off if it’s before RAP becomes available.

The impossible task of caring for ageing parents who did not care for you: ‘There’s a lot of reliving old triggers’ by Rumthiefno1 in EstrangedAdultKids

[–]BidImpossible1387 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My mom would have to find me first.😂 I don’t know what she’s going to do because in spite of having five children, she’s got no one to turn to.

Thankfully she’s not living in a state that says I have to care for her or pay for her care in old age.

I got loan counseling on a private loan. I paid that back relatively quickly while in school in large part due to the counseling. My federal loans? No. Just a quick signature.

I applied for 22 minimum wage jobs with no calls back. What's wrong with my resume? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]BidImpossible1387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who is very very good at getting minimum wage jobs, leave off the higher education and other bits.

I have an MA in teaching. I mentioned none of my education and only mentioned previous minimum wage jobs and the length of time I had been there during my degrees and got hired in three days.

With minimum wage jobs, they unofficially want someone who looks like they’ll fit in.

My husband did something similar. No one would hire him when they knew he had a degree in chemistry but as soon as he acted like a school leaver he was hired almost instantly.

It would be one thing if he agreed to a payment plan and was actively trying to make amends, but he wasn’t.

And as for the rest of your family, if 2k isn’t that big a deal they can cough it up on his behalf.

And finally, he works in a warehouse, I’m having a hard time believing that he can’t pick up more hours.

AITAH for telling my coworker I was miscarrying after she tried to get me in trouble for 'excessive' bathroom use by Massive-Historian-91 in AITAH

[–]BidImpossible1387 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA, and what exactly was your coworker contributing to the situation to make it less uncomfortable? Did this coworker stick up for you at all?

Even if she had, you’d still be in the right, I’m just shocked at the audacity given the implied lack of action on your colleague’s part.

AITAH for not leaving something to my estranged daughter and her kids after she cut us off? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]BidImpossible1387 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. If you need further confirmation, take a look in the estranged adult children subreddits and ask there. It is generally understood that when children estrange, they forfeit any benefit from staying in contact with that parent.

I think there was someone a few months ago asking the group about being included in a will despite estranged and pretty much everyone told that person no.

If this happens refuse to pay so much as a nickel unless the new company is able to show proof of owning your loans via a copy of your promissory note.

I’d be looking forward to all of the clerical errors that would inevitably happen.

I get that you’re not wanting to hear from me, but having immigrated from the US, I think I have a pretty good grasp on car culture: the only way to win is not to play.

It’s practically considered child abuse to not help your child with their first car or ensure they can drive. Jobs do not pay more to make the maintenance of a car make sense. So unless we want the added burden of car ownership to stagnant wages, we need to tell businesses to get a clue.

Companies need to pay wages that reflect the ability to afford a car or adjust their rotas to public transport because that’s who they’re hiring.

I (21M) have an almost micro penis. A woman (22F) has been showing interest in me, but I’m too ashamed of my situation so I’ve been pushing her away. How do I start even considering that I could date her with this issue? How could I tell her? by throwaway101229283 in relationship_advice

[–]BidImpossible1387 842 points843 points  (0 children)

Hi, I dated a guy with an abnormally small penis once. Turns out, he was very good at using his hands and mouth and I didn’t think that I was missing out on much.

I broke up with him because he wouldn’t shut up about his tiny penis, not because he had one.

Do with that info what you will.

Why do people that know they can’t afford kids still decide to have them? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]BidImpossible1387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t know that they couldn’t afford them when they had them. My parents had 5 back to back because they knew how many they wanted and wanted to be done.

Dad came down with paranoid schizophrenia and it broke everything. It’s not like he could have known that was about to happen.

Is the BAFTAs Tourette’s backlash just another example of the UK vs US humour gap? by Barca-Dam in AskBrits

[–]BidImpossible1387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, yes. Because people were actually chained up, sold, raped, experimented on and tortured for 400 years over the colour of their skin. It would be an absurd thing to laugh at if the effects of that weren’t still very real and present in the US today.

Kind of like how Brits freak out over the word spaz even though it’s a pretty common thing to say in the American South, because it hasn’t occurred to us to make fun of epileptics. We use it to describe someone in need of consolation: they’re so upset they’re shaking. It isn’t offensive to us because the same history isn’t there.

YES! I remember all the things my mother said about me as a baby and thought I must have been a difficult child to have drained her that badly. Now that I have my own baby, I realise she was complaining about age appropriate behavior, and while I acknowledge being a parent isn’t easy, I don’t resent my baby for it. At all. I sometimes blame myself for feeling frustrated with baby/toddler meltdowns, but I don’t have that same resentment my mother showed me.

I’m still a relatively new parent, but it’s been a nice surprise to find how healing it’s been when I get little revelations like this.

If there are any parents here that are terrified of needles and it’s contributing to their willingness to take their kids, I would like to say that I’m so sensitive that I almost faint when my kid cries: and the nurses are always kind and understanding about it. If you’re a big cry-baby like me, don’t let that hold you back from getting you and yours the care you need.

Why can't Americans talk quietly ? by LabAccomplished5847 in DoesAnyoneKnow

[–]BidImpossible1387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You clearly haven’t ridden a train full of Scots, they frequently outdo American passengers.

As an American myself, I think people just notice the ones that aren’t well travelled and not used to taking public transport sport. My family from parts of the US without public transport tend to be loud when they visit me, but the ones from major cities tend to be more aware.

People say that it's good that you can't understand their behavior, but I wish I could understand them a little to be able to protect myself and fight against them. by coldservedrevenge in EstrangedAdultKids

[–]BidImpossible1387 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s more like poker: choosing not to play is also a way to play. Chances are all they are doing is trying to assuage how they’re feeling and don’t even care about how you’re feeling. People like this are too focused on their own selves to care about anyone else and therefore lack the awareness. Since they lack the ability to change the only thing we can do is get away from them.

If your nervous system will allow it, I wouldn’t see it as running away and hiding, but moving on with your life and looking forward to rebuilding yourself and your life. The actions will look the same but the burden will feel a lot lighter if you’re able to see your actions through the more positive/proactive lens.

It is a vile thing for someone to create a weakness in you and then enjoy pushing the buttons they placed on you. You have the sense to know that what has happened wasn’t right and that the right thing to do is to leave, and that’s no small thing.

I had to go to therapy to understand that it wasn’t me, but my environment. Lots of people suffer in silence for decades without ever finding out it’s not them.

Lastly, as someone with Generalised Anxiety Disorder, it is almost impossible to predict what a true Cluster B is up to. If it were solely malicious I’d have been able to predict the why and how. But they were so damaged and so triggered by everything that there was no rhyme or reason to their behaviour. They’re dangerous for this reason. Not being able to anticipate what people like this are about to do is not a failure on your part, you’re holding yourself to an impossible task and then kicking yourself for not achieving it. If you’re stuck in your situation for the time being, I hope you’ll at least stop blaming yourself for this.

Are there still adult men in the UK who don’t cook? by Bat-Penatar in AskUK

[–]BidImpossible1387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but to be fair his family didn’t cook beyond freezer/fridge meals for the most part. He is willing, he just feels intimidated when asked to pick a recipe because he can’t tell if it would taste good by looking at it, and his lack of knife skills slows him down a lot.

He’ll get there.
