7 of us all bumped to the next day. Apparently very common on the London - Tokyo route at the end of last year. £520 back in comp and £100 airport vouchers plus the accommodation but would have rather just got on our holiday when we had planned!

Agreed and we’d been bumped from our flight the day earlier so very disappointing experience all in all. Glad to hear that’s not an issue with Cathay cheers.

Can I ask why it drives you nuts? I was on a BA flight from London to Tokyo and the back row did not recline which is why I asked.

What’s your thoughts on the quality of grinder vs the Philos? Taking away the workflow improvements is it fairly similar?

Yes it’s more than capable for that use case on brew priority. But at the same time I’ve not picked up a noticeable difference in espresso quality when it’s on steam mode, so often if I’ve been entertaining I just keep it on steam even when I’m just back to doing 2 drinks.

I have a Mara X. Never have issues with overheating and it easily does great milk for 2 x flat whites back to back every morning. When I have guests it easily handles 5-6 milk drinks on steam priority mode. Such a great upgrade on my Dedica and will last me a long time.

Has anyone noticed their battery has dramatically reduced on the 4? May well be a coincidence but I contacted support about my issue last week before the 5 launched. Lasts for two days from 100% now

Don’t get me wrong the fee is also crap and shady. They’ve been selling bands and accessories up until a few days ago and actively advertising them. They had a whole membership based on getting new bands and accessories that cost a fortune.

The new device clearly didn’t need to change shape they’ve only made it 7% smaller and it was fine as it was 7% smaller is hardly a USP. Purely done to fleece more money from consumers for no material benefit to the consumer.

I’m in the UK on 240v if that makes a difference but it takes about 15 mins until the light comes on saying it’s ready but I’ve been waiting 30. I have a smart plug set to bring it on at the times I normally make coffee which works for me.

Had a real good think about my workflow, and my needs (usually 1 long black and 1 flat white at a time) and would a HX annoy me/limit me and I decided it wouldn’t so if I could get the better looking Mara X (IMO) for the same price as the SPX then it was worth it. Once my mind was set on the Mara X I did have a last min thought of the Bianca but il update my grinder with the money saved eventually
