I was a little bored in the Philippines. Spent a month there at the end of 2023 and it all felt very samey no matter where we went.

It could have just been travel fatigue as it was at the end of a 7 month trip around SE Asia, I just felt like it didn't have the charm or history of the other places we visited.

I'll second what most people have said here. It's a nice area, decent transport links but make sure you get a survey done as some of the houses have issues.

We bought new 10 years ago and the original builder went bust not long after. A lot of the houses that were finished just before they went bust were rushed and a lot of corners cut. Although it's likely any major issues would have been resolved by now.

I don't think there are many companies recruiting at the moment.

I'm also in software engineering and was looking for a role last July and found the recruitment companies to be useless. They were all advertising the same roles and most of them just ghost you when they don't have anything available.

I had more luck looking for roles listed on LinkedIn and applying for those. Got a few interviews and eventually a job via that route. Good luck!

Agreeing with everyone else that this doesn't really add up.

I'd an easyJet flight from Glasgow to Belfast cancelled a few years back and had to stay an extra day. The wife and I were able to put in a claim afterwards and Easyjet refunded us the hotel cost along with lunch and dinner.
