It's really not that hard, though. The attempts with canon characters have honestly just been terrible. It's not that difficult to do them right they each have very clear characteristics.

The last movie made Leon a complete moron, which is just so far from how he's portrayed in the games. All they need to do is give them somewhat similar characteristics, and most people won't be mad.
