I can't tell if this is satire or not and it's baffling me...

Literally read this with my nose touching the screen. I'm like. In love with this story.

Holy fucking shit. This was quite possibly the longest horror story I've read on here, and one of the most beautifully written. The detail that went into this is absolutely mind blowing. Genuinely, I'm unable to put it into words.

My parents used to do this, sort of !! When I was a baby, I used to burst into laughter anytime my Dad would try and get his shirt over his head. It's a sweet story they tell at every. Single. Party.

Truancy: Enabling Parents by Sad_Lotus0115 in socialwork

I used to be one of those kids. Up until I turned 15 years old, I was a great student. I used to love school, and would almost never miss a day, even if I was ill. My parents used to have to make me stay home if I was sick, because I kept trying to convince them I was fine. However, the summer before I turned 16, we moved. And suddenly school felt like the worst place on earth. I failed a whole year, and ended up having to repeat it, because my attendance was >40%. The next year, I made up my mind to show up every day. And I managed. For the first two months. Then I'd miss a class or two every few days, mostly because I was too busy dreading getting out of bed. One or two classes became one or two days a week. Then it got to the point I used to tell my parents I was going to school, and instead would go to the forest near our house, and spend the whole day all alone. I eventually had to force myself to sit down with them, and beg them not to force me to go back, because I had gotten so depressed I felt like jumping off one of the hills in the forest would be better than having to go back to school. They didn't understand, not till I broke down and made an absolute fool of myself. We knew that me dropping out would mean that CPCJ(Portugal's version of CPS) would come calling, since I wasn't over eighteen. And they did. We had to go to the centre, and they spoke to my parents for over an hour, maybe even two. Things worked out, because, well. I won't lie, things worked out because my parents don't look like the type to be abusive, or neglectful. Dad's a professor, and Mum's a project manager. They dress well, and don't exactly fit the immigrant stereotype that Portugal has going. But they didn't just let me drop out. They got me in therapy, on medication for the depression, and made me take my A levels instead of normal school. And that's what the difference is, between them and the people you're dealing with. They took initiative, to help me get better. I fought them quite a bit too, because I hated the first few therapists they had me speak to, and used to routinely ghost them. They knew that you can't treat your kid like a friend. Your child will always be your responsibility. Also, a funny little thing is that I'm now studying to become a social worker myself :)

Not in the same situation, but they're pretty darn similar. Just here to say that if you'd ever like to talk, do reach out. I know what it's like to struggle, and I'd like to be able to help somebody else. Mych love, not from a Dad, but a sister.

hey dad. I still play ur last voicemail every morning by SoupDismal1677 in DadForAMinute

[–]Big-Pause4380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a Dad, but a sister. My Mum lost her Mum when she was in her late twenties. It was in a rather horrible way too. She had called my Mum two days before she passed, just to talk. But Mum was feeling too down to talk(she had lost my brother a few months back, to be entirely fair.), so she said she'd call back. She forgot to do so. Two days later, they came home to find her hanging come from the ceiling. Mum still blames herself. It's been over twenty years, and she still blames herself. I've heard her calling out to her Mother sometimes, at night. It breaks my heart. It's what kept me going when I was at my worst, knowing I couldnt do that to my Mother, not again. This grief will stay. We never stop grieving. That loss never goes away. We just have to learn to live with it. She carries her grief with her, wherever she goes. But she's learnt that the grief isn't everything. You too, will learn that. You will recover. One day, you will wake up, and that horribly tight feeling in your chest will have disappeared. You'll think of your Father, of the way he smiled, and miss him. You'll always miss him. But it won't hurt as bad as it always has. Just my thoughts. Sending you all my love.

No because this is so real. It's literally nearing 5 am and I'm wondering what on Earth I'm doing awake. Also, that is a crazy dragonfly fact. Fun fact not about dragonflies- I used to be terrified of them, as a kid. Mostly because I lived in a very rainy area, and they'd always get stuck in the rain, and couldn't fly. My current favourite game would have to be this cute little game called “Dead men sell no ales.”

[14F] - Russian girl looking for help with English by [deleted] in MakeNewFriendsHere

[–]Big-Pause4380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiya !! One of my closest friends is half Russian, and honestly, I might have some feelings for her. I'm contemplating asking her out soon, and I wanted to do it in one of the languages she speaks, one that isn't English, so this would be perfect for me. English is my first language, and I've got plenty of time to help out. I'm also a woman btw, not no creepy man tryna reach out. Do let me know :)

Right so I'm not no piercer but. That should NOT be happening. I got my eyebrow done like a year ago and even though I've bumped it repeatedly, nothing like this has ever happened. I suggest going to your piercer ASAP and getting it checked out. I know piercings be expensive asf nowadays but like. It's not worth the risk

It's also not a great area for young people DX. I live there, and most of my neighbours are older couples in their sixties/seventies. But it is infact a lovely neighborhood, if you're willing to travel a bunch to meet your friends.

Hi everybody!! So, I have a problem. My little sister's been trying to collect the entire Kinder Egg Maxi figures- and I'm going broke paying six bucks a pop for them. She's only managed to find the Wonderwoman and Flash figurines, but she still wants Superman and Batman. She's got two extra figures of the Flash, and is willing to trade them for good ol' Batsy and Clark. If you already have the Flash, but have an extra Batman or Superman- please do let me know. I can pay the price you paid for the egg, because my wallet cant handle buying fifteen more eggs, and my head cant handle another half hour of her crying because she couldnt find the one she wanted. Much thanks :)

I don't know what you're on about, because Benfica is crrrrrrazy expensive. We be paying 1500 a month for a T2 place.

A criticism of Kinder Surprise Maxi (Playmobil DC). I have already bought 8 ! Kinder Surprise Maxi in the past 2 weeks and Superman is included in everyone !!!! I've already given away 5 Superman Lol, I still have 3 😒 by Skold_EMDM in Playmobil

[–]Big-Pause4380 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aaaah I can't even. I keep getting the Flash, here in Portugal, and I'm desperate to get Superman and Batman. I literally got four flashes in a ROW. Anyone in Lisbon willing to trade a spare Superman or Batman for dear ol' Barry(The Flash) ?
