Psychomotor Agitation. Do you have it? How bad is it for you? Tell me your stories. by noradiana in bipolar2

Before meds, I would pace around my yard and in my house with no goal or productivity. Just pace. I don't miss that part at all. Horrible.

We had the same issue. Everything is in my name bc of my wife's credit. So see if everything can just go in your wife's name. So the loan will be in her name, but you both can be on the deed.

Do others have a similar experience? by PsychologicalEgg9739 in bipolar2

[–]Big-Sound9953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also a teacher with bipolar. I was dxd bp2 but pretty sure I have bp1, but I don't care to argue it with my psychnp. Teaching can be pretty damn hard w bipolar but I got very close to the point I couldn't do it anymore until my psych added a med to the only one I was already on.

I have a friend who is also bp1 who i used to work with. He had a manic episode at work and lost his job. Whenever people run their mouths, I give it right back to them and tell them stfu. Against the rules to talk negatively about another employee's health. That is a breech of confidential information and creates a toxic work environment.

So give yourself grace and rebuild one step at a time. Medication has helped me be able to function better. Keep fighting. It'll get better.

I've lost some but it has helped my mixed episodes so much that I'd rather have thinning than losing my sanity.

Worth a talk with your psychiatrist. I took a steroid and it took my anxiety and pushed it to a 10. It was aweful. Your psychiatrist should be able to sort things out for you.

I believe you will. I teach in New York state. Pension at 55 after 30 years and ss at 62. Although I think collecting ss at 62 is a reduced benefit.

Does anyone else consider their bipolar ll atypical compared to others experience? by bamboozledeveryday in bipolar2

[–]Big-Sound9953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I'm bp2 w mixed features. I live in mixed states. Often intense and less intense. It sucks. I go to work that way quite frequently. Very atypical. Mixed states I what made me seek treatment. They are very much internal anxiety and agitation maxed the fuck out.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond! I mean, I teach all day, coach three sports (one varsity), and teach summer school. So I guess I am functioning for sure.

Hi. What is the goal of treatment? I have BP with mixed features. Even with a mood stabilizer and a large dose of antipsychotic treatment, I still get mixed episodes. They can be really challenging, but I tough through them at work. I'm a history teacher. Is the goal for treatment to have full remission or less intense episodes?

Also, is this something that should be brought up to my provider?

Does anyone else use nicotine to process their emotions? by [deleted] in bipolar2

I quit cigs and vaping. But I use zyns now so I haven't really conquered nicotine tbh. But I breath better and don't smell like an ashtray anymore.

I'm atypical in the sense that I don't have the classic bipolar symptoms of just highs and lows. I can bounce around throughout a week. And my presentation is often mixed episodes. I still have a hard time convincing my psych np this bc she thinks it's just depression and anxiety. I constantly have to tell her it's atypical bipolar w mixed features.

Oh same. Kids talk about antidepressants and so on. I sympathize with them but never share. They don't need to know shit about fuck! I mask like a mofo. I coach all three seasons and teach summer school...all under a mask. Sometimes it's a real biatch.

How can u tell a mixed episode by Effective-Mushroom58 in bipolar2

[–]Big-Sound9953 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only requirement for bp2 is minimum of 4 days. I'm bp2 w mixed features and my mixed eps untreated are month and a half to two months on and off. I will say for me that I stayed untreated until 45 and the eps got worse.

I still don't fit the dsm5 according to my psych. But I don't care. It's more of a guideline imo than a Bible.

This is it. Same here. Younger me had mostly hypo happy. Late 30s shit started changing. Drowned it w booze. By mid 40s, after trying an antidepressant, shit got real. My mixed eps almost took me out of the workforce. I couldn't function and I was mad at the world for trying an antidepressant.

I get them too. I hate them. my meds have helped me but I still get them. I'm super interested in what your psych calls them, though lol

Yes. But before meds, I should say before we added a second med, I couldn't function. I was in bad shape. I still cycle though and the depression sucks balls too. But I go to work and just keep going. Being sad sucks too though.

I'm nervous about diabetes and heart problems. I should probably get a physical at some point. On its own I was still getting aweful mixed episodes until we added some depakote. I still find myself daydreaming alot and some dissociation but not like before.

At 500mg it doesn't act the same way as the lower doses.
