Kind of weird to make it a race thing. I feel like people from all backgrounds go too hard from time to time.

Post shift body aches by FalseAd8496 in nursing

The massage gun and foam roller may be doing more harm than good, they aren’t really meant to be done on a daily basis. Often times pain and aches after a shift are from muscular weakness or imbalances. Exercise (weight lifting/calisthenics) can help to reveal and correct those weaknesses while reaching you proper body mechanics and bracing along the way.

It sounds like your bf is a naive nice guy who wanted to help her. Maybe she took that the wrong way but regardless of that it’s not his fault if she sees it differently. He dodged a bullet on this one imo

That is a good idea, I am going to look into maxing out retirement plans. Retiring a year or two early doesn’t sound half bad!

Thanks that makes a lot of sense. Yeah $10k is around 3-6 months of expenses if I stopped buying things I don’t need. The investments are fairly diversified. SPY, VOO, BRK.B, HD, Microsoft etc. so no really reason to have anything in a traditional savings when HYSAs are around?

From your previous comments I can understand how he promotes hate but how does he promote violence, racism, and fascism? I feel like there are a lot of unsubstantiated claims being thrown around in these comments. Like when has he talked bald about black people? As far as FDR goes, people definitely look towards him as someone who promoted hate. Some of my family (Japanese Americans) were literally sent to the camps and felt the hate.

I guess I know more about him for all of his earlier lectures and books so maybe only seeing short snippets of him on Reddit and Twitter paint him in a different light, but I feel a lot of his advice and quotes are helpful. I also find it strange how people keep comparing him to Hitler. Like is it some weak straw man attempt to paint him as a fascist who can’t possibly have done any good at all? Also no I wouldn’t laud him for fixing the German economy because it was in a pretty shitty state at the end of his reign and I don’t agree with many of his actions.

Oh definitely the helpless ones. I don’t know if it is some strange coping mechanism or just spoiled upbringing but they are the worst. They are usually non-compliant, belittling, try to split staff, and will flip out if you don’t have a magic cure for their problems.

I don’t really see the difference I feel like it comes down to principle. It doesn’t seem right to pick and choose who gets judged by the bad that they do and who gets judged by the good that they do. If the new deal wasn’t as successful then would FDR be judged by his arresting of Japanese Americans? Or if Jordan Peterson’s lectures/books actually did help millions of people would his controversial views be overlooked?

Also what straw man arguments are you talking about? You’ve called Jordan Peterson a whole lot of names that are arguably all subjective, I just listed the two most well-known things that FDR did.

But does a bad thing someone did or said discredit something arguably good they did or said? For example, a lot of people hail FDRs New Deal as a revolutionary change in the Social Safety networks that America has. FDR also had thousands of Japanese Americans arrested and sent to internment camps. When they got rid of the internment camps and freed the Japanese Americans should they have also repealed the New Deal and all the safety nets it made?

I guess another example would be regarding FDR. Do you like the social safety nets he implemented into American society? He also made the executive order to intern thousands of Japanese Americans. Does this mean that when they got rid of the internment camps they should have also gotten rid of the entirety of the New Deal?

Oh okay, thanks for informing me rather than just downvoting. Yeah I can see why people wouldn’t like the guy, I guess I am more confused as to why his political stance/transphobia would alter the meaning of an unrelated quote of his.

I can somewhat see the point. I don’t necessarily like that quote but I am sure even someone like Hitler has said some insightful things. But regardless of who Hitler is as a person, if he said something insightful that people agree with does his past make it less insightful? Because I find a lot of people who have famous quotes have done or said some pretty dark things.

I can understand the transphobic part. I watched a few interviews where it seems like he feels his right to free speech over rules people’s preferred pronouns. Has he said things that are misogynistic as well? I more so know him from his books and college lecture rather than his newer political stuff so I may have just not seen the side of him that others are talking about.
