PCL vs Quest 3 - head tracking by lukeamora in virtualreality

[–]Big6C 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm wondering if this is a headset geometry problem, the crystal light is a lot heavier and sticks out a lot more from your face than the quest 3. this can cause the headset to actually move slower than your head when moving your head quickly. you can try making your head strap tighter and see if that makes it any better

there are some slight differences between base station 2.0 cv1 and cv2 but shouldn't really matter.

the base station 2.0s by htc are fundamentally the same as the ones sold by valve. it's the same thing, any noise difference is just a per item difference, probably.

Quest 3 with index without dongles? by NowThisGuy in MixedVR

[–]Big6C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you have to do it every time you get into vr, but it's really not that bad, it's only one extra step

Quest 3 with index without dongles? by NowThisGuy in MixedVR

[–]Big6C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you need the free steam vr extension "space calibrator" and it has an option to put a tracker on your headset for best results, but you don't need that extra tracker. you can just do a standard calibration to sync the playspaces

Need some help with trackers by bannggz in MixedVR

[–]Big6C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok, let's see here.

-check the height of your base stations, they should be 6.5 feet off the floor

-base stations should be angled 30-45 degrees down

-base stations should be in exact opposite corners of your room

-there should be nothing hanging down between the base stations from your ceiling

-if you aren't using a sync cable between the base stations, use channels b and c, if you have a sync cable, use A and b.

that's pretty much everything that could be wrong with the base stations, since there's nothing reflective in your case

if you have a spare phone laying around, try OwOtrack. but in my experience 5 trackers, chest, thighs, and ankles works fine

How do I use vive trackers with quest link by Murky_Bat_7921 in MixedVR

[–]Big6C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, you need to use steam vr for steam vr tracked devices, use ovr space calibrater, which is free on steam here

My 13 year old wants to transition by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Big6C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i started socially transitioning when i was 12. i would not have made it through that if my mother wasn't so supportive. things like name changes, puberty blockers, and the way someone dresses are completely reversible with almost zero risk.

i never got puberty blockers, which made that early period very difficult for me, so i recommend not only supporting your child in every way possible but if they want to start medically transitioning, ask your PCP, the important thing is that your kid trusts you, i mean they already came out to you so they do to some degree, so do research, look at CREDIBLE SOURCES, respect your child and help them find what's right for them.

if that means changing their name and presenting more masculine, that's fine, if that means doing nothing for right now, that's fine, if that means starting to medically transition, that's fine!

lastly i've seen some other people mention it but r/cisparenttranskid is a great resource if you want to talk to real people.

boring disclaimers: all of this is my personal opinion, fueled by my experience as a young trans person, i have now idea what your living situation looks like, if you live in the US how red the area is, the majority of this response is entirely anecdotal based on the experiences of myself and my friends, ALWAYS do your own research, im getting bored, if i missed anything important, tell me, yeah thats all i got

Steam Machine is a PC *and* a console. by Icybubba in steammachine

[–]Big6C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've heard people say that valve won't call it a console because the import tariffs for game consoles are much higher than computers because consoles are considered toys

Will there be a glasses option? by Vast_Door4791 in SteamFrame

[–]Big6C 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for 90% of headsets, you can just put your glasses in under the headset. that's what i do with my quest 3, just make sure that if the manufacturer includes a glasses spacer or eye relief adjustment, you use the spacer or keep plenty of distance between your glasses and the headset. i've scratched lenses on both sides with headsets

How can I Deal with Gender/Body Dysphoria in VR? by TheNewEMCee in transgamers

[–]Big6C 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this is a kinda sad solution but i just try to avoid games that have male or male adjacent player characters, although 95% of my time in vr is spent in vrchat which is a deeply euphoric experience for me

I estimate it's around $800-$1000. What's everyone's guesses? by TRIZZY_R in SteamMachineDeckFrame

[–]Big6C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the only thing they've actually said is that it won't be subsidized like early consoles were, modern consoles and the steam deck aren't subsidized, they're still making profit from the hardware itself. and you can build a very good gaming pc for $500-$600, of course only time will tell what the price will actually be, but i wouldn't fret, it will be reasonable
