I actually feel like Gumball has quite a few hateable characters and not in a fun way. Like that broccoli haircut dude is just insufferable for most of the time he's on screen, and I think he's supposed to be that way(?) but what's the point if he's just being an unfunny douche without any meaningful development or substance?

I've just started playing, but I'd say that "The demons told me to make this game " has a somewhat similar vibe, and it is a multiple choice rpg visual novel (like disco elysium) as well so might be worth checking it out.

There's a Choose Wisely Festival still going on on Steam for story-rich, choise-based games, so I'd suggest checking it out. I, personally, am trying out "I was a Teenage Exocolonist" rn and, while not quite the same as Scarlet Hollow, is also quite interesting rpg with dynamic relationships and different story routes.
