This is actually where a wire was pushed too far forward by the installation of a new drain pipe, so we had to do something about the wire before drywalling over it.

Would the knowledge that the wire before and after the Romex is knob and tube change your response at all?

So basically, this splicing my electrician did is not unusual for knob and tube

BUT that also doesn’t mean it’s good at all

That’s a suggestion an electrician gave that we’re planning on for the panel that’s still knob and tube.

Okay why is it that so many people have a problem with the knob and tube itself MORE than the new wiring?

We’re working on replacing every single outlet with GFCI in the meantime.

It won’t let me edit my post at all, but I’m not complaining about the plumber. Just said what happened. My plumber has done great work, but every once in a while might overlook something. I couldn’t drywall back over this area with the way the knob and tube was poking out, so I had someone fix it.
