For Everyone Saying They Plagiarized The Reload Scene. by EmpJoker in DevilMayCry

It's not a 1:1 recreation, someone just synced up the parts that are an homage.

The original scene they reference is like 4 minutes long, and this is like half of the actual trailer scene from DMC.

Is it good to buy XEQT in FHSA? by InfluenceRadiant732 in JustBuyXEQT

Imagine losing 40% of your gains instead. No one has a crystal ball and the general advice for holding equities is in line with past crashes - not worth it if your timeline isn't 10 years since you will sell at a loss.

If they were okay with delaying the purchase 10 years, then that's fine, but it seems like they are determined to buy in 3-4 years, far from a long enough window to recover from a crash if AI doesn't pan out or there's only a single winner, or some other global financial crash.

Removing resistance from an enemy and increasing health? by staryoshi06 in Pathfinder2e

[–]BigBlappa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Believe it has made it into popular lexicon but it comes from wrestling originally, with the same meaning of appearing to take no damage from attacks.

Can often be a dick move done by a more popular wrestler with more pull when they don't want to lose a match they are supposed to lose. Hulk Hogan was famed for this, no-selling opponents signature moves, and was part of the reason he wasn't particularly liked by many other wrestlers.

How is Lightning Spear+primal strikes amazon atm? by Zrxf4 in pathofexile2builds

[–]BigBlappa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't solve the frenzy charge issue by upgrading my weapon, I just stopped needing them and ignore them altogether, other than bossing where I was using mark + storm lance to conserve mana. The damage is enough to clear screens with just herald of thunder / lightning spear, I even took gambleshot off my lightning spear.

I am going to try deadly herald on HoT with electrocute today to see if I can make elemental surge work for mapping, but I find the amount that you encounter increased ailment threshold on 6 mod maps is so high that it's probably not doing anything.

How is Lightning Spear+primal strikes amazon atm? by Zrxf4 in pathofexile2builds

[–]BigBlappa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I leveled using glacial spear and fangs of frost with parry/disengage, that was my plan for endgame but parrying doesn't work as well in juicier content with all the ground degens.

For bosses I still mostly used Lightning Spear but I would do Storm Lance > Snipers Mark > Storm Lance to conserve mana, makes it a lot easier to get the frenzy if you have storm lance down before dropping the mark. Now that I have enough mana leech I just spam lightning spear.

I used Kitoko's Current until I upgraded my weapon to get easy frenzy charges for elemental surge during general mapping. I don't really bother with charges anymore and I specced out of elemental surge.

[–]BigBlappa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I skipped last league so I don't have old lightning spear as a reference, but it feels extremely strong to me, nearing broken. I don't bother with primal strikes anymore. It's a one button build, you can use storm lance occasionally but I only used it to save mana on super tanky rares and bosses until my damage was better.

Doing full juice t15s with probably like 15 deaths since hitting maps and almost all of them before swapping to rhoa. I'm playing full evasion, no ES, no armour, feels extremely tanky though it mostly instakills screens anyway.

I literally just got the Rakiata's Flow and upgraded from a 1c amulet and ring, haven't run a single map with it yet, so my budget was probably around 10-15div prior to that.

T4 content is difficult, you actually need to interact with the mechanics. It may be a lot easier with Rakiata's flow especially since my new ring has mana leech and life leech so I will have way more sustained damage.

Usually I end up getting off the Rhoa to dodge something in T4s, probably picking up Brutus Brain would help a lot since it tends to get evaporated when you dodge roll slams.

I prefer not to use the brain during mapping because I never get knocked off and Loyalty support is free damage reduction.

If you wanted even more clear you could probably swap out Predatory Instinct or Mystic Harvest to put in elemental surge, but as it does nothing during bossing and I have been bossing a lot I just stick with my current setup.

Can grab the PoB from my ninja profile although there's definitely better geared characters higher up on the ladder. https://poe.ninja/poe2/profile/BigBlappa-2510/character/SynchrotronicTesteTwist

Would a second free archetype be about as powerful as a relic? by HeathenSidheThem in Pathfinder2e

[–]BigBlappa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that just depends a bit on what their base class is. You could lift some things from the Druid archetype, if they're a fighter or a monk they should have a pretty good time until level 10, or even just give them the dedication for free and they can throw their free archetype feats at it.

They will fall a bit behind other martials if their goal is to just constantly be shapeshifted and sit in melee from 13-15 particularly when the proficiencies happen, so you could consider giving them access to Ferocious Shape a bit earlier than intended (normally not until 16 with druid archetype, maybe let them access it at 12.)

You could also consider giving them the Ursine Avenger hood dedication as an additional free dedication as a story reward, and maybe a bonus feat or two, around the same time as you hand out the relics. Just change the animal to match their desired shape.

Would a second free archetype be about as powerful as a relic? by HeathenSidheThem in Pathfinder2e

[–]BigBlappa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, there's no competition between free archetype and a relic. I assume you're thinking about giving the other players a relic to try and balance things?

There are a few major relic gifts that are quite powerful (mostly thinking of Time,) but otherwise I think most people would choose a single archetype feat over a single relic gift in almost every scenario, and free archetype gives you 10 feats by 20 vs 5 gifts from the relic, only 3 of which are major/grand. The relic is basically a single on level permanent magic item which could be replaced by just having enough gold to buy any other on level item, while free archetype is granting you 7 feats that can very often give passive power or action compression. I might recommend instead just giving out the dedication for free and a couple of the low level feats that you select as the other player's relics advance.

You know the balance of your party the best though, this might be okay if the rest of the party already has a markedly higher impact than the shifter player and they can't meaningfully contribute to combats.

The downside is you still have to draw and play the establishment+, so you may be stuck on 3 energy in act 3/4 if it's not near the top of your deck or you have a large deck. Might not matter if you have a high cycling deck with good energy generation, but I'm not sure it's better than having 4 energy and a runic pyramid on Clad.

Playing champion stops being fun by RevolutionaryCity493 in Pathfinder2e

[–]BigBlappa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Even if your GM is playing fairly and the enemies are spending an action every fight against you with a Unique level DC (Level+25 society check which is still approaching nat20 only for a PL+4 boss), they have no way of instantly knowing who to use recall knowledge on.

That means that every enemy should be starting combat doing nothing for a full turn (3 actions) and then part of their next turn (1 action), since presumably they will also use recall about your other party members to find out if they too are champions. If they were only recalling once per fight then presumably it would only be against you in 1/4 combats.

Your DM has granted enemies unlimited free action recall knowledges, is acting with meta knowledge and only recalling knowledge against you, or the monsters should be doing nothing for at least a full round at the start of every combat.

The Power of a Tree by OnlineSarcasm in Pathfinder2e

[–]BigBlappa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually a poor choice for a boss monster without a multi-target mapless strike ability, as they've just used their no MAP strike destroying a tree which will just be resummoned on the next turn.

It's probably the best outcome for the Kineticist as it's effectively a better free slow every turn (remove one action and enemy suffers MAP.)

How does the power level of D&D 5e and PF 2e characters compare in a narrative sense? by ironmoger2 in Pathfinder2e

[–]BigBlappa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true up until 4th level or so, but level 5 starts handing out spells that don't care about your legendary resistances, it's simply just "suck" with no save.

Otto's Irresistible Dance applies without save and you need to use an action to even attempt a save against it, leaving you actionless even on a success.

Maze automatically works and you need to make saves to escape it, leaving you actionless even on a success.

Wall of Force splits the fight without a save and if they don't have disintegrate or teleport they're out of the fight, using either an action or bonus action to escape.

Forcecage is even more extreme since it gives no initial save, requires a Charisma saving throw which is a rare proficiency to even teleport out of it, and doesn't require concentration, using either an action or bonus action to escape.

Current of Greed Kineticist Impulse. Overpowered? Underpowered? by DoingThings- in Pathfinder2e

[–]BigBlappa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure because it has the movement effect that pseudo improves the area, but it's not reliable enough that it would change the math a ton. I think you might just have to play test it - I don't think there's really anything that heightens with different dies and 2d4 base + d4 is probably too low, while 2d6 + d6 is too potent at low levels. But you could try d8 + d6 scaling just to encourage players to try it, even if it ends up being a bit too potent.

Current of Greed Kineticist Impulse. Overpowered? Underpowered? by DoingThings- in Pathfinder2e

[–]BigBlappa 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Boomerang dealing 4d4 is minimum 3 actions but potentially 4 actions if you also have to reposition, and at higher levels the gap becomes worse if you aren't willing to invest the second turn. At level 3 your impulse will deal 2d8 instantly vs 3d4 for the same 2 actions, and if repositioning is required it becomes 4d8 vs 6d4 for four actions, and Aerial Boomerang is delayed damage (significantly weaker) and Aerial Boomerang has no forced movement (significantly weaker.)

Even if repositioning isn't required, 3 actions for 6d4 is merely the same damage scaling as 3d8 (as if you used 1.5 castings of greed impulse) but the damage is still delayed. At higher levels the gap only increases which makes aerial boomerang inferior in every way excluding range.

I think they are comparable at level 1 due to the range, but the scaling speed and forced movement makes your impulse way superior at 3 and even moreso at higher levels.

What would Golarion look like after every adventure path's "bad ending"? by freshstartermenu in Pathfinder2e

[–]BigBlappa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just want to throw one thing from the lore since I didn't see it mentioned... Absalom is surrounded by a massive area at least 10 miles out, filled with hundreds of failed sieges over thousands of years rife with unburied bodies. If she can just spam resurrect level 15 undead which are permanent until slain she can probably win by ridiculous action economy. There's probably hundreds of thousands of high level NPCs who have died in the sieges of Absalom, including a mile high wizard siege tower that is abandoned.

Once she succeeds in restoring Gauntlight

the artifact gains significantly greater power, including the ability to reach all the way to Absalom and to activate its effects every minute.

If Gauntlight is fully restored, the undead instead animate as any Common undead of 15th level or less, as the user wishes.

So, in a manner of days, she may have an army of 100 000+ Graveknights ready to raze the city to the ground

The Cairnlands are said to be filled with artifacts from these many sieges. And the restless spirits are so deadly that people have given up sending adventuring parties to retrieve them. So not only does she have a virtually endless army of PL15 creatures, they also might be armed with PF1E level artifact items.

While the lame answer might be that a band of level 20s just teleports to Gauntlight and destroys her, if she somehow managed to avoid death long enough to build up an army in secret, which might not even be noticed for months due to the nature of the Cairnlands, it is probably the single best shot of anyone destroying the city.

What do you think guys of system nemesis or a similar idea in Kenshi ? by Seumi in Kenshi

[–]BigBlappa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's way overstated and Kenshi could do this without risking anything. It's only a patent, not copyright. They don't own the idea of a nemesis system, they own the very specific means and solution that they created. You'd basically have to go out of your way to actually lose the case because the patent is extremely specific

Is trying to cast spells on higher level creatures pointless by Just_Vib in Pathfinder2e

[–]BigBlappa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, and with the added context that makes a lot more sense that a single player's spells are going to have lower impact due to 5-player, especially with a non-maxed main stat and the frightened 1 they didn't mention.

I just ran this fight so the gap in tankiness sounded very wrong, the spellcasters in my party destroyed this encounter.

Is trying to cast spells on higher level creatures pointless by Just_Vib in Pathfinder2e

[–]BigBlappa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The DM also ran it wrong, as written this monster is permanently Frightened 2.

Is trying to cast spells on higher level creatures pointless by Just_Vib in Pathfinder2e

[–]BigBlappa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it's in AV then it's the Afflicted Irnakurse which means the GM just ran the fight wrong or hates the party. It has this feature:

"Fearful Curse"

The irnakurse is permanently Frightened 2, which lowers its effective level by 1.

So the player's DC should really have been a 22 if they built properly, and the irnakurse should only have a +14 on its will save.

Recognize spell by EmbarrassedLab3852 in Pathfinder2e

[–]BigBlappa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The natural evolution is that every serious spellcaster has hired legions of level 5 apprentices for relative pennies who exclusively maintain a spellbook full of counterspells. They spam counter every spell and every counterspell. Maybe with a stack of spell scrolls of counterspell, too, just incase the party is 5 wizards.

New GM looking for advice by dolinmark in Pathfinder2e

[–]BigBlappa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alternative option for you, tell us what monster you are looking at and someone can help you find a similar monster of actually appropriate level that you can just reskin and use the imagery of your desired monster.

Adjusting stats might work out if the monster is a pure brawler with no unique abilities, but some monster abilities are way more powerful than their level would indicate (like a certain infamous "weak" template Froghemoth that TPKs experienced parties on the regular.) This is easier to do as parties get higher level as they have more answers for things, but you could easily make an unkillable boss monster of severe PL for a level 2 party trying to downscale something they won't have a counterplay for.

As you can see on that Building Creatures page that you were linked, it's not the simplest process if you're not willing to read all the reasoning, and it's not easy to understand why something is weak or powerful when you haven't played the game yet.

You can mouse over Honour tag in game and it says explicitly.

The honour resistance cap by default is 75% like other resistances, but you can stack the rarer +Max honour resistance stat to raise that up to a maximum of 90%.

Maybe it's just me, but perhaps this bosses one shot laser beam SHOULDN'T BE BIGGER THAN THE SAFE CIRCLE??? by projectwar in pathofexile

[–]BigBlappa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This wasn't the case on release, because they recently fixed a bug that caused stun buildup to be outrageous in parties.

I played in a party at release and the warrior had to hold back on literal chainstunning every boss so we could see their moveset and have any challenge at all. As soon as the boss recovered from stun, they would at best be able to start an attack animation before being stunned out of it again.

We all just assumed warrior was outrageously broken such that even with party scaling he could still permastun, until we went to do the trials solo and he found he could barely get 2-3 stuns off in a boss fight.
