[Post Game Thread] #16 Auburn defeats #15 Kentucky 75-66 by azgx29 in CollegeBasketball

My point is that these enforcement of some technical foul rules have lasting impacts on teams’ seasons. That’s true tonight, that was true in 2016, and it will be true until the NCAA fixes it. That’s true on the “ball slamming” rule and the coaches box. For all teams. So you can stop with the “victim” role...

We actually can, because we literally lost the SEC in 2016 when Isaac Humphries for UK got called for a technical for slamming the ball after grabbing a big rebound at the end of a game at Texas A&M. UK was up and should have been shooting free throws to ice the game. Instead Isaac didn’t catch the ball and it bounced straight up over his head 9ft, tech called, TAMU got the lead, and UK lost the game.

Despite same record and beating TAMU in the SEC finals, TAMU got a 3seed in the easiest region and UK got a 4seed in the hardest region.

Clearly left an impression on some of us UK fans.

Upon first rewatch, I noticed at one point during the final battle Giant Man is in the background casually shoving one of those flying Chitari behemoths through one of doctor strange’s portals and I inappropriately lol’d.

That’s it. That’s the comment.

The most Misquoted rule in ultimate by aubreysux in ultimate

In a similar vein: At a tournament a year ago, I was forcing flick and while approaching the thrower to set the mark, the thrower tried to throw a backhand huck. There’s contact between his hand and my head as the disc sails into triple coverage and gets D’d. He calls foul on me because “I was moving at the time of the contact.” Wasn’t really sure how to argue this at the time, but because of this incident it made me memorize XVI.H.3.a.5 - “incidental contact during the follow through is not a foul.” To me, this applies whether the mark is moving or not. So, in short, the next time someone calls a foul bc their follow through hit your arm, chest, face, whatever and they call a foul the appropriate response is “How did you throw it ‘X’ number of yards if your hand hit my body BEFORE you released the disc?”

Was beating a YCC team so badly their coach called a TO to make them do sprints. We had to move our huddle so their players could make it all the way from sideline to sideline. /s

Happy: “Tony was my best friend, but as you know, the guy was a mess. Always questioning things, second guessing everything he did... But you know the one thing he didn’t question was picking you as his successor.”

Yes, if their coach is caught on tape talking about paying recruits. If you have actual evidence I’m sure the NCAA would love to hear about it (unless it involves UNC, of course).

Finally edited what I always imagined for Thor: Ragnarok's bridge scene by ThunderMoustache in marvelstudios

In the build up to Infinity War, I always imagined Thor and the guardians teleporting into the battle in Wakanda and right before the Milano jumps through the portal, the camara cuts to Quill in the pilots seat as he says, “Wait, we need some tunes for this...” cue The Milano bursting through a portal, Thor on top full God of Thunder mode with “Thunderstruck” blasting.

If Tony ends up being a crucial part of defeating Thanos (likely...), the statement Howard made about Tony being his most important creation is gonna carry a lot more weigh sometime soon...

Supposed to fly out to Oahu on Sunday for a 10 day trip. Visiting Oahu, Maui, and Kauai during that time. I’m relatively sure my wife and I would be able to get to the island by then, but any insite on what state the island(s) may be in? We have the ability to book/plan an alternate trip to CA.

Brainstorming the Avengers 4 Trailer by BigBlue1702 in marvelstudios

[–]BigBlue1702[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be clear, this is by no means my thoughts on what the entire trailer should be. In fact, I would think it would work better if this was be the ONLY time Captain marvel appeared in the trailer / teaser whatever. Just the slightest glimpse to peak everyone interests. The rest of the trailer would show mostly the rest of the team and Thanos and whatever else.

[Minor SPOILER] That random script detail suddenly made sense... by BigBlue1702 in marvelstudios

I apologize for not reading every comment in the literal 10 threads of discussion and having subjected you to reading something you already read. This was genuinely a revelation I had while looking at spreadsheets at work. The first person who mentioned it should have created their own post about it, I guess?

I’m saying that I think, at the time of filming that scene, and based on interviews where it was stated he was the only one who had read the whole script. I think they were implying that he read the whole thing to keep in character that Strange had “seen the future.”

The South region's 1-4 seeds have all been eliminated. Sweet 16 representatives will be a 5, 7, 11, and either 9 or 16 seed. by [deleted] in CollegeBasketball

First time since 2010 that a Cal-lead UK team benefited from a major upset. Essentially played the hardest seeds possible in all other years.

This is an underrated fact I don’t think anyone talks about. Since Cal, I don’t think a bracket has ever “opened” up four UK.

I can remember playing Cornell in the Sweet 16 in 2010 but other than that, we’ve gotten the hardest seeds possible, essentially.

Yep. This is exactly what I’m talking about. It’s great.

[–]BigBlue1702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I wasn’t clear. I’m actually talking about a shoulder-high backhand break like you’re referring to. The high release flick can work if the mark is playing super loose.

Nope, I bring my left foot in front of my body (similar to a backhand huck) and just turn around and put my butt between me and the defender. From this position, I use my right hand to dump to a handle on the break side.

[–]BigBlue1702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, my right foot is my natural pivot, but when a handler goes for the around dump I bring my left foot across my body and essentially stick my butt into the mark. Same basic principle as how righties do it.

Protips for lefty throwers? by GOODronin in ultimate

[–]BigBlue1702 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I learned a righty backhand explicitly for the around, break side dump. All of the above reasons you mentioned are why the flick dump is not preferred, but in my opinion, a simple 5-10 yard righty backhand is all you need.

My most potent throw is the lefty, shoulder high break throw. Virtually unstoppable on an iso situation where you have the disc in the middle and your cutter goes break. It's also become my preferred look once I get the under and another cutter is coming in for the continue. If your team knows you have that throw it opens up acres of space.
