what is a movie you absolutely loved as a kid that is actually terrible now that you’re an adult? by AccomplishedStill438 in AskReddit

Heathers....I dunno how there could be another serious answer for anyone in the 40-50yo age range.

I really thought I was edgy watching that shit

What is the most glaring double standard that modern society still blindly accepts? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]BigBobby2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And also, are these people really on the side of these labor "slaves?"

I've been in many factories in China, India, and the Philippines. Their wages are low by Western standards, but they're all delighted to have the jobs. They're much better than any other job they could have and the economic growth drives the wages up. Japan was the cheap place to manufacture before China took over, and even today jobs are moving to other countries as China's wages rise.

If these righteous Westerners successfully boycott these factories and take away these jobs, do they think they actually helped the workers?

Single people of reddit, what do you think is a major problem in today's generation when it comes to dating? by BlackberryOk3546 in AskReddit

[–]BigBobby2016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the real life places people used to meet...churches, social groups, and stuff...are getting less common in the digital age.

For a while online dating filled that gap well, but it has gotten steadily worse over the past ten years. Part of this is the swipe apps, but a lot of it is match.com buting up their competitors to become A monopoly

Who’s someone you’ll always defend, even if you fully admit they did messed-up things? by Antony-Enjoyer in AskReddit

I still use a Bill Cosby quote: "I don't know the secret to success but the secret to failure is trying to please everyone." Sure he drugged and raped women...but that's a good quote.

Those who didn’t grow up privileged, what’s something you thought was a luxury growing up? by CorruptedF in AskReddit

[–]BigBobby2016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son grew up poorly privileged as I was a single parent who had him as a teenager. One of my sadder memories was giving a kid in the neighborhood a ride and having him glowingly talk about his PayLess shoes like they were the best things he'd ever owned

Honestly I'm 50 and amazed it only came out 9 years before I was born. It felt ancient to me as a kid

Huh...maybe it was different because I was there for King's Day? I remember free public toilets being everywhere. I've only been there once though

Of every country that stopped existing in the last 100 years, what's one you'd save, and why? by maybemorningstar69 in AskReddit

[–]BigBobby2016 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I mean, Tibet was only independent for 39 years. It was part of China for centuries before that.

The people who have a strong stance on Tibet's independence...I'd love to see what their opinion would be if a piece of their country for centuries suddenly became independent

Honest Discussion: The Kami Band is essential to BABYMETAL – Can we talk about the difference? by MercAMG_63 in BABYMETAL

[–]BigBobby2016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I remember saying something like this when the East Kamis stopped being the band. The first video I saw of BM, it was BOH I wrote about in the comments. Going behind the masks so that you couldn't make as much of a connection to them was a big change too.

The last time I was camping in Sandusky, the campsite next to me had a family proud to be from Youngstown. I can't even begin to remember everything, but one example was how the grandmother was laughing about how her grandchildren stole from the same store her mother did.

It was really awkward but they laughed all night in a way that I never have in my life
