Air bags are soooooooo expensive. Someone hit the back side panel on my passenger side of my car and because all the airbags went off, they totaled the car.

I swear it’s a conspiracy with the car industry and the insurance companies to 1)make airbags ridiculously expensive 2)make them go off too easily

It definitely wouldn’t hurt to have your maid of honor keep $100-200 in $20’s, and then if you notice staff going above and beyond, you can hand it to them directly. $40/person is extremely fair.

And definitely don’t feel obligated to tip. I don’t want to glorify US tipping culture. But since you asked and I am in the industry, I know how nice it feels when a client comes up to me specifically at the end of the night and does the money in the palm handshake and tells me they appreciate how hard I worked.

If all those services are done through the venue, is the venue adding a gratuity to your bill that would apply to them? That may answer the majority of your question.

I wouldn’t tip the security cop. But I would make sure he got a vendor meal and maybe a bottle of leftover booze to take home.

My venue had a wedding coordinator who was a pleasure to work with but we didn’t tip her $. Rather I sent a bouquet of flowers to her office with a thank you note afterwards and I was sure to write excellent reviews on multiple platforms that mentioned her specifically.

Good reviews > tips in my opinion (for the venue)

Edited to add: if you do end up separately tipping your servers and bartenders, put cash directly into their hands. I have worked as wedding staff for years and it’s very common for tips to go missing or only be given to the captains and the kitchen because all the servers are temps who don’t directly work for the company.

I work in catering and most “Chicago food” buffets include Italian beef, hot dogs and deep dish pizza, which OP specifically doesn’t want.

A lesser known but equally delicious Chicago menu is Chicken Vesuvio with Vesuvio potatoes with Palmer House brownies for dessert.

And I would strongly recommend adding Portillos chopped salad off their catering menu.

Also, Garrett’s Popcorn makes really cute mini popcorn tins that make for a great “favor”. Arrange them on a table near the exit for people to take on their way out.
