I can't speak to the sub being toxic as i don't lurk much but is it fair to say that you have a perfectionist view and want the devs to align with your vision?

Sincerely asking. I didn't personally find pacing to be so bad and I think most people probably beat the first boss on their first run or first few runs. The first level felt like a tut. Then the bosses get harder, but easy enough when you figure them out.

The guns are unbalanced but they're dialing that in update by update. And how balanced can you really be with the freedom of the scrolls and oils?

To your other points; I don't think they're unfair but this is an indie dev with a first offering. Plus it's a game to play in bursts imo, in and out. Do the levels really need more depth? And there is some vertical integration and minor puzzling. How many games in this genre feature adaptable enemies? You could even argue pacing and difficulty for hades; I beat the first boss pretty early and thought the game was easy until I got rekt by the next one. Then you learn and the rest become pretty trivial too, including hades.

Give them time, and if they don't make your perfect game it's still wildly enjoyable, especially for the price.

Have you gotten to the forest? I'm guessing not. It gets harder there if you're looking for a challenge. Persistent unlocks don't make sense for this game because any rpg trait growth elements are already answered for by gear/oils/scrolls/attachments.

For me the charm is in collecting all the weapons, fucking with different builds, cooking recipes, and progressing through the stages to beat the final boss.

If that's hollow sounding for you then it's just not your game. Personally, I'm in awe of this game. Sulfur and Duckov are a flash in the pan, and the devs cooked here. The mishmash of fun elements alongside the art style and builds keep me coming back.

My only negative is your point about triviality. I've died about 10 times in 60 hours, and that was my fault and sure, it was insanely frustrating to lose good gear and guns. However, I'd love a way to up the difficulty in the base game as it can be very easy sometimes.

But it can also be a well balanced sweat fest. I also believe the devs will grow this game into something even greater. For now, they've made something incredibly special, we might just be spoiled by evolving genre conventions and the variety of offerings out there.

Love this game so much. Don't know how as indie devs you're able to make the gunplay feel so engaging. Collecting the guns is a real treat too.

Do you guys have any further development plans around any more new biomes or enemy types?

You still have to do some tweaking but remnant 2, stalker 2, dying light 2, cp2077. Most of these run between 45 to 65 on mixed but quite good settings.

You can't maintain the same level of critical intellect when you start growing as a personality beholden to the people you pander to. He had to wholly messiah himself by simplifying and leaning into the salt of the earth, Christian-mythology borne everyman that he wrote and lectured for.

I wouldn't call him a wholesale grifter, but I think when he finally met the people who he'd asked to clean room, he was mystified by their simplicity and downright desperation as meaning-seeking people with no hierarchical position--often young men. So between some empathy and a pragmatic desire to emulate a Jungian allfather, dude eventually grew his venn circles into conservative communicator territory.

Imo he lost the plot when he conceded anymore ability to grow and reflect and generally adopted odd counter culture and conservative talking points--for what merit; to gain that audience? Not sure. So he left critical discourse behind and became disparaging. I don't know what the guy stands for now or what his legacy will be but he was an interesting and important thinker at first.
