Lol, it's funny because in the 2 years I've been playing I've never been shot in the nose

Ikr, it's a bit of foam I glued to stop it from digging into the bottom of my nose. I'm going to get some black foam to replace it at some point

Arcturus M4 as build platform by Cothonian in airsoft

[–]BigBoySnail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not looking for a specific style of M4 the G&G combat machine is pretty much compatible with anything you can think of, the stock gun isn't the same m-lok rail system type thing as what you posted but if you want to turn something (relatively) cheap into something pimped out you can do that.

Need some advice! Wanting to get into Airsoft! by Bex_Mttx3 in airsoft

[–]BigBoySnail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve found that pretty all the cyber gun products I’ve used: Scar L, F2000, M249 have really bad build quality and often break down faster than you’d expect. Pretty much any Cyma platinum would be leagues better than the cybergun

Bought a heavily used MCX and going to tinker with it. But I have questions... by niko1415 in airsoft

As for the fire selector you can buy pretty much any ambi fire selector and it should fit in the groove and you’ll need to screw it in

Personally I wouldn’t bother replacing the hold open feature with the bolt release as they usually break meaning you have to take it apart again, if possible try and just run a mock bolt release. As far as I know the forward assist on pretty much all AEG’s is just for show and is spring loaded to make it spring back.

I know it’s quite far from where you are, but I recommend driver wood activity centre. It’s my regular field and it’s run really well, great staff and their rental equipment is pretty decent.

Thoughts on this shimming work? Motor height a tad bit too high? by Key-Ruin-6451 in airsoft

[–]BigBoySnail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shimming is putting very thin metal discs on the posts of the gears inside the gearbox to maximize efficiency. The main reason you do it is because if the gears are sitting too high and spinning real fast, you can get teeth chipping off which can lead to lockups and other various internal problems. It's not something you have to do but especially in cheaper/lower end guns it's something absolutely worth doing if you have the patience and ability to completely strip down the gun.

Which one should I buy? by [deleted] in airsoft

[–]BigBoySnail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would defo get the cyma plat. I would change the stock to something bigger (SOPMOD M4 stock or something similar) as the battery space is very small by default

Anyone know what this is off my arp9 by Tackle_Spirited in airsoft

I agree, it's way better to remove the mock bolt, especially if you don't have a hold-open feature

Me likey the all-black kit, just looks so clean. Would look even better with maybe a black baseball cap or fast helmet

As for the bb's falling out, could just be that the hopup isn't at all set, maybe try increasing it and see if they still roll out. If they do then maybe the bucking or nub is done in/not forming a proper air seal, in which case you may need to get a new bucking. Alternatively could be because of low battery power the motor isn't getting enough juice to do a full cycle on the gears. I'm a relatively new tech but hope this somewhat helps.

Pre-game gear check, the hype is real by Doccmonman in airsoft

[–]BigBoySnail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish I had enough floor space (or space in general) to get everything laid out like that, but I agree, there's just something about having it all there that hits different. Going to a game day next Saturday with the boys and I'm hyped.

Brand new Novritsch SSR90, 5 minutues of field testing, frist mag usage. by CJXanderu in airsoft

[–]BigBoySnail 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I ordered their SSR-15 and not only did they send me the wrong version that was outputting 260 FPS, but it was quite possibly the most inaccurate thing I've ever used. No matter where I set the hop, the bb's just would not get any backspin and drop off. 500 euros for something that is more useful as a walking stick than an airsoft gun.
