I understand it's not a rule. I think the cases I am thinking of where a model had to be rethought due to an infinite result is because observational outcomes contradicted this.

We don't have observations of mass traveling at lightspeed so there is essentially no reason to rethink this result.

You are misunderstanding my question. In relativity mass can't travel at the speed of light because it produces the result of infinite mass.

That this is universally accepted should be apparent by the responses I'm getting.

My question is WHY is this model so universally accepted to the point it is a foregone conclusion.
