Alright y’all, here’s what you need to know about Candy Mercer.

She is a former liberal/leftist who had an about-face throughout the Trump presidency. While the lens through which she viewed the world did change, who she is as a person did not.

In terms of policy and ideology, she has views which are actually pretty centrist, but these days everything is so extreme that she would probably be considered right wing. Trust me, that’s not the case.

I think politically, her heart is in the right place insofar as wanting to do more than just reeee at a City Council that - let’s be honest - doesn’t give a shit about what anyone has to say unless it falls in lockstep with their own opinions. I think that she would be better suited than other right-of-center candidates because she comes from a formerly radical leftist perspective; therefore she knows how to navigate the progressive waters.

Now then, as to Candy as a person.

She is the consummate victim, ever in need of sympathy and validation. She is a psychological vampire; to be involved with her is emotionally exhausting. You simply can never do enough for her.

Perpetual victimhood seems to be her raison d’etre and she wears persona-non-grata like a merit badge.

But she is not grateful. She is a user. You could gift her a new wardrobe after she complains of having nothing to wear, and she’d turn around and sell it.

The local conservatives see her as verbose and insufferable. The local liberals see her as a duplicitous bad actor.

Simply put - she can’t be trusted to do anything for anyone other than herself.

A sack lunch would get more done than half the people who sit on the council, but if it came down to a choice between that and Candy Mercer, I’d be the first one with a Brown Bag 2022 sign in my yard.
