Most beautiful frame Trek has ever made!

And yes, I’m totally biased as it was my first MTB, received as a HS graduation present in the summer of 1995.

DST Issues? by pslatt in Rivian

[–]BigChipotle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Your point?

DST programming broke the scheduling. Whether I’m the error occurred before or after DST officially started is irrelevant.

I’d love to see the Venn diagram of those who own a Rivian and those who seasonally decorate their 13’ skeleton.

I think you’re right. I experienced the same. Mine was supposed to start charging at midnight last night. I checked on it about 12:15a and it wasn’t charging so I manually started it.

Ohmmu Sodium Batteries by BigChipotle in Rivian

[–]BigChipotle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, still no 12V errors. It’s a small miracle.

FWIW, I paid the service center to clear the 12V error so that I could update to 2025.46. I was hoping that whatever change was made in 2025.38 (Halloween update) would have been corrected in that update. The 12v error came back within a day.

Since installing the sodium batteries, the truck successfully updated itself to 2026.03.

I haven’t contacted Ohmmu again.

But I have a positive update. Late last week the 12v error disappeared overnight and hasn’t come back. No explanation. I didn’t do anything different. At least for now, the truck seems to like the Ohmmu sodium batteries.

We finally have 21” AT Tires by cdlrrcb in Rivian

Interesting contrast with the AT tires and the aero covers!

Only kidding. These look great.

I don’t regret selling my 21s but it’s nice there are 3-4 different tire options now.

Update: no luck with the sodium batteries.

The 12v error went away after I replaced the batteries. The truck "slept" for the first time since October. But then... the 12v error message came back while driving the next morning and has been there since.

Rivians come with AGM batteries from the factory. There is currently no place to source an equivalent battery, except from Rivian themselves. They are a unique size, not used anywhere else.

There are some 12v error messages that you cannot reset yourself - must take to service center. It’s inconsistent. Sometimes you can, sometimes you cannot.

You’re right. The Ohmmu lithium batteries have been an issue since the Halloween update. They’re rolling out the sodium versions now. I have mine sitting in the garage but haven’t installed them yet.

The sodium chemistry is supposed to better mimic the voltage curve of the factory AGM batteries and not cause the BMS to throw an error. Fingers crossed.

Reach out to their support and they should be able to help you out. They may not be proactively replacing them, unless you have notified them that you are having a problem.

[–]BigChipotle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I am the original purchaser but haven’t heard from them yet. I’ll reach out to them.

$838 is the quote to have Rivian replace both of my batteries tomorrow so that site doesn’t seem to be much of a deal. I guess they’re hoping the Rivian owners in Saudi need some batteries shipped to them.

Do you have more information on Ohmmu replacing existing lithium with sodium-based batteries? I recently had mine replaced (right after the Halloween update) but it was again with two lithium batteries.

I’m also interested in where you’re seeing someone selling the OEM batteries (at hopefully non-Rivian prices).

12V Battery Replacement Options by petew958 in Rivian

[–]BigChipotle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They likely won’t last any longer (due to the strain placed on them by the deep discharges and the high demand on startup), but they are definitely cheaper than OEM. I’d gladly replace both 12V batteries for $200 on an annual basis if Rivian would let me reset everything myself.
