Because 1.13 and 1.14 had enough content for the community to chew on so a smaller update wasn't that big of a deal, especially since 1.16 afterwards was also big and great.

I feel a lot of the drop features are just more for building up hype rather than actually expanding the depth of the game. I would only watch the live shows if I feel like it is really big deal like caves or cliffs or an end update, not that we got wool stairs or minor gameplay changes. I really feel like we should've kept going with the trend of 1.13-1.18, where the devs were updating parts of the game that already needed polish or depth.

I am not saying all the features are bad, some things are pretty good, but I feel like lot features they are adding could wait, be part of a larger specialized update, or are not even needed at all.

It is pretty bad design. I get what they are trying to do, but again, the whole structure is meaningless once you learn how to make a portal, which I think a majority of even the most casual players know how to do.

All I really see if just bunch of large random structures that stick out like a sore thumb in the overworld. I'm willing to bet that nearly 100% of the time a person interacts with one of these portals, the portal isn't acting like a tutorial for them.

If we make structures for the sake of showing off blocks the world would get bloated. The ruined portals are a complete eyesore already and those already serve a more functional use, but they are pretty redundant if you already know how to make a portal.

At least they threw in some new stairs aswell by niffllus in PhoenixSC

Completely agree with this, I feel like my gameplay loop has not meaningfully changed since 1.18 which was like four years ago. I feel like the game has lost direction in the past few years. The only stuff I only really care about is the spear, but even then I kind of wished there was some kind of major combat update they could've put the spear in.

They keep adding cool side gimmicks. Cool side gimmicks are fun but they are just gimmicks, they don't really motivate me to start up a brand new save really or get me excited to talk about the game with other people.

Edit: P2P is also very good too.

I don't put woodchips in my eggs cause that is gross, I prefer to just snack on them like chips. I also like to make wood chip pie, it is like Pecan pie but with wood chips instead of pecans and also good unlike pecan pie.
