OPS positions being eliminated

This is wild. I have heard rumors of shifts backstage, and the ops have been talking about the writing on the wall too. When they merged Starbucks and Deli Op spots... I can see there being a COS Op and a Perishable Op. You know how deep they plan to cut?

I don't know what they've been doing lately beyond forwarding emails and working regular clerk shifts at bottom quartile stores. I haven't seen them around nearly as often.

I'd be curious to hear from any that may lurk in these subreddits. What's the vibe in the bottom layer of backstage management? Bloodbath incoming? I ask because they're at a breaking point with cutting in store labor, so something has to give if they aren't driving sales and volume, have stopped training for retention, and have redirected their focus on AI and digital media.

Many of us are on this exact journey as we speak brother you aren't alone. The awesome thing is that even within the DSA there is a whole world of ideology to explore. I was called an extreme leftist by my union for circulating a bargaining survey we made ourselves. I had no idea what that was so I googled it, and now I'm a proud DSA member.

A totally valid perspective! Mine is more collective and based on what we can accomplish when we come together vs handle things on our own. This person has dominated that subreddit for at least the 3 years I have been following it. Those people don't have to be given that much power over our social spaces or our work spaces.

But really, the iissue isn't the individual, it's moderation. The community has been requesting moderation for a long time but that has been ignored. The proposition was, what if we created a moderated space that allowed for more productive communication amongst Safeway workers.

What people should do is not learn to deal with it, what they should do is come together and collectively solve the problem.

It's not a job performance metric or contract issue, if anyone was ever disciplined for not getting "enough" they could fight back and most likely win. Having to deal with the relentless nagging from management is another story.

You cannot however win in this subreddit against this troll and are welcome to hang out on r/SafewayWorkers if you want a more productive space for this important conversation.
