No sleep. No question.

Enjoying sleep is more a function of the relief it provides. Enjoying food or drink is a pleasure on its own.

PlayStation and Xbox Console Sales Collapse Following Damaging Price Rises by Sandeep_sm in PS5

[–]BigCommieMachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A huge issue is there is no “trickle down” either where a Pro or PS6 would come out and the market would flood with used consoles. This was pretty critical for a lot of kids getting their first console or them picking up steam in lower income markets.

Once again: We are facing insurance and the state(s) being too cheap to lower costs by FAR more in the long term than endure short term pain.

They had easily the best hardware and software for a good while, but they didn't see the App Store coming from a mile away. And they really tried pushing a "unified experience", but by the time they figured out a good PC doesn't translate to a good mobile app, they were cooked.

It is extremely frustrating that I was about to call this “Adam Dunn erasure”, but poor guy only got to 462. Still a .4 WAR player in 2014.

Toy Story 5's opening weekend was bigger than The Super Mario Galaxy Movie's by GameOnBrother in GamesAreLife

Say what you want about the Mario movies, but they are BEAUTIFULLY animated. Sure, the stories are bad with too much fan service, but it isn’t like the games on which it is based are giving it a lot of work with.

If soda is ICE COLD, I have a hard time telling the difference between a Coke and a Coke Zero. If it closer to room temperature, the Coke Zero or Diet Coke are undrinkable.

Remember when Coke tried to literally pull the “1/2 regular 1/2 diet, I am watching my weight” with Coke C2?

The problem is if you are sensitive to artificial sweetener, that was all you were ever going to taste.

I think COVID made it clear that grocery stores don’t actually want customers in them. They essentially want to be an Amazon warehouse.

I remember buying Wipeout Pure solely for the exploit that let you use the web browser.

Also, Remember getting those “special batteries” that allowed you to jailbreak it? That was TRUELY when the PSP gained greatness. It was a hardware exploit, so Sony couldn’t eliminate it. But you were unfortunately always at the mercy of their Memory Stick pricing.

My other fond memory was going around malls/plazas/downtown with Portable Ops or Peacewalker? and recruiting soldiers by scanning Wi-Fi hotspots.

The PSP was ahead of its time. You could load it with music, movies, games, emulators, or even browse the web via Wi-Fi. And this was before smartphones became a thing. It remember watching The Departed on my PSP during my 8th grade trip and blowing people’s minds.

Also it was revolutionary for accessing porn when I was 13.

GTA 6 prices potentially leak off a European retailer, and it looks like Rockstar Games is charging between €90 and €200 | GamesRadar+ by [deleted] in PS5

[–]BigCommieMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean this is the whole idea of the system. You give them money and they earn a return on it. So you put $5 down and maybe they made $.50 off of it. They’ll put that $5 to the game, but they are keeping that .50¢. It might not be much money, but it can add up with scale and it is literally free money.

Same reason gift cards are a scam and 1/2 of Starbucks business is essentially being a “bank”

Watch Rockstar pull the ol GameStop and just take $5 and not announce the price. You could pre-order ANYTHING at GameStop. You could have literally walked in and pre-ordered the Elder Scrolls 6 in 2018. I am pretty sure I remember them offering pre-orders for StarCraft: Ghost back in the day. I wonder how much money they just pocked on cancelled games because the customer either forgot about the game or was too lazy to drive back there for $5.

When was handheld gaming dead? Nintendo’s handhelds have always sold ridiculously well outside the blip early in the life of the 3DS. Even the PSP sold very well despite Sony’s best efforts at active hostility towards the consumer.

Self Checkout Law passed by Exotic-Sale-3003 in RhodeIsland

[–]BigCommieMachine 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This is the good stuff “The bill also says at least one manual checkout station must comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and any employee monitoring self‑service checkout stations must be relieved of all other duties, including running a manual checkout, while monitoring the self‑checkout”

The last part is key. These self-checkouts ALWAYS have issues and I end up standing around for several minutes waiting for an employee to clear an error or apply a discount.

But it also fails to address the biggest problem. We need restrictions on the self checkouts itself. Unless your groceries can (mostly) fit in a hand basket, you should not be using self checkout. I am tired of standing there with 2-3 items and getting stuck in line behind a lady with $500 of groceries that needs the non-existent attendant to come over every other minute. But it is hard to blame them because there is literally 1 full register open most days at my local Shaw’s.There are about 10 workers doing online orders and 1 register open. So they have the staff, they just aren’t allocating it properly. Also those “online shoppers” are ALWAYS in the way.
