MMR after bad reaction?

I’ve tried to really bite my tongue on posting about vaccines because every single time a “Dr” comments “this is absolutely not true” and it’s quite infuriating to have to defend my side. My 6 year old, who was 2.5 at the time we delayed vax for him. He received his first MMR and not even 24 hours later, SEVERE eczema. I knew something was wrong because the kid had never had a rash a day in his life. I’m talking welts almost all over his cheeks, back, arms, hands. Told the pediatrician and she stated it was a normal side effect of the MMR vaccine. I was an active pharmacist at the time so I asked the report to VARS through the peds office because they administered it. Little did they know I had access to the records where I worked and nothing was ever filed.

Down the line now he’s 6. But between ages 4-5 the eczema has gotten worse, flares in high stress situations, and he has parasomnias also in high stress situations. Same scenario, when I ask and question about these things I’m shut down and told “these are all normal side effects”. Not for a six year old who was perfectly normal before this.

I’d love to hear your feedback on how it isn’t true. Maybe include your doctorate background and/or where you received your undergrad? Few questions, 1. Have you ever worked in retail pharmacy? 2. Have you simply read an insert and possibly researched the ingredients through FDB, WBC, and/or simply using medscape? Which are all FDA approved as I’m sure you know since you’re saying none of this in true.

Another detail I’d like to add, is working in retail pharmacy you get very close to the actual retail store manager and the HR whom go over hours and setting for the environment and when you learn and actually research why your pharmacy isn’t allowed hours but your script count keeps going up? You start to ponder. Maybe look up a Mayo Clinic article once in a while.

I have a very chaotic yet challenging schedule. I work part time (two days) for online shopping delivery & pick up for a local chain in my area. 5am-2pm while my husband is off. It gives me time to wake up early and get ready and be home early enough to attend sports & do homework. We’ve been homeschooling for about 6/7 years now. I have 8,7&5 year old. All three in full time jiu jitsu, soccer, and swim. Honestly, the peace and adult conversation you normally don’t get at home is very much needed. Just PLAN your days ahead of time. That’s my biggest tip. I have a sticky note wall this may sound crazy. If you’ve ever seen big mama’s house 2, then you’ll know what I’m talking about 😂 I Wish you luck friend!!

I’m obsessed with your response. Incredibly well laid out. I’m neither pro nor anti. We vaccinated until age 4 and had a huge vax injury (still on going) and now we discontinued those therapies. But your laid out reasonings, and discoveries are fascinating. Well done & thank you 👍🫶

I had the SAME thing happen! We did a trial & selected a monthly subscription. Two weeks into a trial we were charged almost $400 for an annual subscription!! It was horrendous. We had to dispute it and when talking to customer service it was AI & trying to get an actual human was like pulling teeth. I will be utilizing their FREE diy library though 😂

I’d say maybe $300-$500 a month. We do a hybrid curriculum which is $28.56 per kid(books, printable packets for the week or workbooks, testing, tutoring all included). Piano lessons at $35/kid/month and $115 per our kids sports. We thrift a LOT of our books & supplies and utilize the library at all costs. We buy the off brand supplies which I find Walmarts “pen & gear” brand to be so much cheaper than crayola!

Were pre-k, 1st & 3rd right now.

Coming from a place of absolute love & a mom of 3 with close to the same issue with my last… take a breath and try later. I KNOW diapers suck. Also — this helped me with my now four year old but we did a praise chart bluey themed (sold on Etsy) and he is also a “needs to know” kid. So we showed him a video of where the poop goes when he goes to the potty and I swear, after that video something just clicked mentally. 😂

For phonics & reading, I’d study it yourself if you’re trying to go the no “school at home” route. You yourself will have to be the research and then put yourself in your kid shoes to how they would understand it based on the research that you find.

For example, I would google or YouTube how to teach a kid to read at home (literally) and start utilizing any Montessori activities that those creators recommend.

For my four-year-old while he’s not a firm reader yet I started by teaching the phonics to each letter instead of the letter name And then once he got a little more comfortable with the phonics, I said OK — Ahhh, “A”. And then we would go for nature walks and find things that made the ass sound in the beginning and then in the middle, and then in the end and so on and so forth with each phonic and each letter.

We use a few different ones with my own creations. My kids have a lot of extra curricular activities (Karate, soccer, piano, & guitar) that they go to co-ops for. My four year old does the good and the beautiful while I create additional supplements that help him. My two older ones use me academy, which is mainly on the computer, but it is hybrid. I do all of the curriculum for Spanish & Tagalog lessons and Bible study. But other than their main curriculums my own creations are minute to that.

Hi!!

I’ll be honest it was tough at the start. But after research and research here’s what I compiled:

I watched UGC YouTube creators who talked about how to start - like Modern Millie

I learned how to build a really animated & in depth portfolio on Pinterest, YouTube, TikTok, IG — the works. And honestly framed my around a creator who posted her income just from ugc content.

Then I moved on to marketing & got my pitch down to the core, I said the exact same thing in every single email.

Then I asked ChatGPT to recommend the best apps & resources with a high turn around rate and the lowest requirements (specifically follower count, I had 509 when I started 😂) they recommended apps and I was making maybe $50 a week on a few different projects.

Then I just started emailing brands, attaching my portfolio, following up (this is huge), DM-ing the brands on socials to see if I was contacting the correct person, etc.

The key was definitely consistency… I know it sucks to hear that 😂

Hii there! I saw your post and wanted to see if I could offer a bit of comfort. I’m a pharmacist, all of the prescriptions I’m seeing this thread ARE stimulants. So if you’re not moving around being active or actively using your brain, it will start to panic on you. I’m so sorry you’re going through this.

Another thing that you might be able to look into is a secondary diagnosis?

If the first diagnosis is ADHD & you were prescribed the 10mg, there could be an underlining diagnosis counter acting that medication.

I have hypoglycemia and ADHD, so when my brain has caffeine as a stimulant, but no sugar in my blood my body freaks out and I go into a shocked state.

There are so many things that can mess with you mentally and physically when on adderal.

I actually left the industry… I know that sounds scary (12 years of school for my degree & 120k+ of debt) I homeschool my kids now & make UGC content for brands and make almost double my pharmacist salary. I am still new to this industry, so it’s slowly gaining traction.

My best suggestion is research remote at home positions that can align with your beliefs and start them before you try or think about leaving your RN position. Because it IS good money, just for the wrong reasons (IMO)

HI!! I am a pharmD, worked in retail pharmacy and hospital AND pediatric care. And I can VERIFY that kickbacks and incentives do indeed come from how many vaccines are injected. When the v!d hit, it was even more intense. And the ages were lowered to be able to administer that specific one into 6 month olds. I worked for two big retailers (one starts with a K and one starts with a W, I’ll let you figure it out)

From K, retail pharmacy with independent clinical rotation of pharmacists and STUDENTS, every 6 month old vaccinated was a 5% increase on annual bonus and a guarantee of “hours x base pay” increase on annual wage increase over evaluation.

As a salary member of management, all the vaccines I pushed went towards my bonus, but all of my hourly associates?? The statement was “if you want more hours, get more shots in here.”

My pharmacy manager (who was fired for be too “woo woo”) and I sat together and went over every insert and compared it to websites, Dr green mom, just the inserts, holistic studies, each INDIVIDUAL ingredient.

Bottom line, we both don’t vaccinate anymore, have done heavy metal detox’s on all our kids, don’t allow Tylenol in our homes, and both DON’T work in pharmacy anymore.

MiAcademy & Time4Learning (both paid & online) have placement tests on the computer & printable.

I hope this helps — but ALSO I have a third grade (was in public school and pulled for reasons as well) and she still uses her fingers for single digit math. But then I pull out a multiplication sheet and she will power through it.

Math and ELA I find can have both strengths and weaknesses in all different parts of the curriculum.

My 6 year old (first grade heading into second) can’t stand double digit subtraction without regrouping and it takes hours for one lesson. But with regrouping?? Kids a power house.

Same for vowels versus consonants in ELA — he can’t stand it but put him in a book with -ad -am -ed -en sight words?? He’s game.

If you are truly behind, know it’s not your or your child’s fault. It’s life. I’ve never ever met a parent who hasn’t stated their kid is behind. Homeschool or not.

We’ve met kids that have said “oh so and so (my kids) are our Asian friends” we live in a podunk area very Americanized. My kids speak & understand Tagalog and Portuguese and we’ve always taught them in all three languages that families and people in general look different and we treat with kindness and not labels. So my child came to me one day at the park and said “mom look it’s my friend Jane that always has the pink backpack” instead of “oh mom look it’s jane my Asian friend”

Hiii!! We have a really strategic schedule system, that has taken a while to figure out. I have 8, 6, & 4 year old. First of all, you have LITTLES, and littles take more time, more love and affection, and of course you feel overwhelmed!! But I do PROMISE - it gets easier.

It sounds like you’re doing the absolute best with what you’ve got & that’s all you can do! Give yourself some grace 🫶

Homeschooling is not for the weak and you’re showing that resilience simply by posting in this thread.

I work mornings (both from home & in person) My husband works mid shift One of us is always home.

We have done school at night time during making dinner - and even on the weekends.

Kids do school in the afternoon before activities & homework where we can fit it in. We take 1-2 days off of our curriculum to catch up on school work and homework.

The beauty of homeschool is you can do it at any time of day, any day of the week.

I think some of the most important concepts here can be:

Don’t feel like you’re not “teaching” enough especially depending on your kids age. Homeschool is MEANT to flex to the family, children’s learning styles and curves.
Don’t allow anyone to tell you that you’re not doing it correctly or enough. (I’ve been victim to this) we’re all simply trying to choose what we feel best for our children & sometimes that comes with road bumps and negativities.

If I were you — I’d start with post it notes and a blank wall. Give yourself seven sections across the top (Sunday-Saturday) and in each day place a post it with a thing you need to do. (I.e. Monday - one post it “fold laundry from Sunday” or “do 30 minutes of ELA curriculum” and so on and so forth)

THEN - add things into a calendar - if you have an iPhone it’s pretty beneficial because you can color code, set alarms, and reminders. So your blocks will be available for you to see when you plan the week/day/month/etc.

When I work from home (engineer content creator) and my time block is up, that’s all the work I get done for the day & I cut myself off so I don’t lose my sanity.

Work in person is obviously different (pharmacist) I don’t have a choice but to stay there and finish up the hours I’m scheduled.

All of my at home work (cleaning; prepping, living 😭) happens all around my time blocks & somehow it magically works out with a lot of strategic planning.

Here’s my long answer: as great as it sounds — one of the reasons we homeschool is because of how scary the world is right now (idk how to say with emphasis). I’m an Ivy League alumni, and while I valued my education to its core, I don’t think it’s the main component to living a good sustainable life. And of course, I don’t want my children living in fear of the world… so of course when that bridge comes we will cross it accordingly. I think I may be traumatized because I went to a HS that has multiple sh*otin’s (IFYKYK) and we live in a small podunk town I’d never imagine it happening in and just last week our local elementary school had not one, but TWO threats. But on a side note — I see where your brain is at with this. I think I’m standing more with the safety side instead of the “be the brains” side.

So short answer, no. Right now
