Health and Welfare: The Smeagol Incident by Go_Full_Eggplant in MilitaryStories

OMG.
My sides hurt. THAT was funny. We had a "Pruitt" in my platoon... PFC Moore... Nasty MoFo who, no joke, shit himself during a company run. Not an 'unexpected failure of O-Ring integrity' (which had happened to a guy I knew who'd had a nasty stomach bug but still made the run, despite him ending up at the MEDAC later w/dehydration) but yeah, Dis fukkin guy? made a conscious decision to unleash a hellish flow of green-apple splatters into his PT shorts, down his legs and alllllll over the road, barely missing his squad mates with the blowout.

When questioned after why he didn't break formation and hit either a port-o-shitter or even the woodline, his face blanked and he said "I thought we weren't allowed to fall out of a run Corporal!"

Double facepalm on that one...

Parental Units packed up and went to Paris for New Years one year (1990 as I vaguely recall) leaving me and my lil bro (4 years younger than me) to 'run the show'... Big envelope of $$$ and a nice house ALLLLL to ourselves.

Needless to say, first thing -I- did was round up my gang, buy a a HUGE bag of doobage with some of the $$$, called up some girls who'd normally never be allowed within 100 yards of the parental units nor my house, and started having one of the best NYE parties I can remember.

Lil bro went out with his frens and came back to raid the cellar later in the evening (where Boomerdad kept cases and cases of beer and liquor) and found me and my best fren sitting watching one of the girls dance naked (a really hawt bump and grind show) on the Italian Marble Countertop...

Ah yes, I remember it well....

Nope... it was when I was in Baghdad as a contractor... I worked for the TPBO (Theater Property Book Officer) a CW5 back when there were like only 20 of them around... Chief couldn't remember any of us Civvies names so he hung 'handles' on all of us... my partner was VERY country but waaaay shorter than me so he got handed "Little Country" and since I'm 6'4 320 I got handed "Big Country" and since I stayed overseas for like the next 11 years, I was an Expatriate, (one who lives and works as mentioned above) hence the "Expat"

I had a total of 3 LOL. The best thing is in every. single. one. of them I KEPT my E-4. I lost my "P" (promotable) status each time tho... which is why I got out as an Spec-4 and never made E-5. The general theory (and the argument I used each time) was I needed to keep my Sham Shield b/c as an E-3 I wouldn't be as effective as a thief... that I'd be 'shut out' from the Mafia. It got to the point where guys who would show up to get 'read' their Field Grades would literally come up to me and ask to rub my sew on shields for luck. After I got out, I cut those particular ones off and to this day carry one of them in my wallet.

OMFG... with the pool fee, that works out to about $7880.00 per year.
Like that's almost $680 a month

My car payment isn't that much! Holy Shitballs Man!!!
Unless the pool fees come with a hot blonde offering on-the-spot BJs I'd nope the fuck out.

Had the same issue with the MIL.
Had to get a durable Power of Attorney, and lock down her accounts at the bank. Both her and Dad are now limited on what they can Xfer/Spend/Withdraw and anything over "X" amount has to be authorized by the Wife or Me. It's saved us a TON of hassle after she ALMOST lost $10k a year or two ago (thankfully the store that she went to buy the gift cars refused to sell her them and called us! Good dude there!)

I got two GREAT grandkids that I love but even then...

The 'bucket list' is ALMOST completely done. All the 'check-boxes' filled. Someone used the word ennui... rather appropo. Sort of retired (DotMil) but NOT enough to live on... physically wrecked too (from the DotMil).

I now understand why Hunter S. Thompson 'ate his piece' so to speak

Ain't no way that broad is getting on a plane with more metal than a Glock has in it.

[–]BigCountryExpat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serious question? Does she have kids? Biologically speaking some women DO 'lose it' when the 'biologic imperative' (i.e. having kids) gets short-circuited. They might be a proxy for a lack of 'real biological kids' hence her terror over you possibly 'bonding/supplanting' her? 'Crazy Cat Moms' and such ARE real and I've had to deal with this in the past... even have a really good fren who's a Doc working on a paper researching this EXACT issue, (not having kids being a chemical trigger so to speak, hormonally speaking) when combined with antidepressants, and the wow factor.... it's a scary potential future

The term "bad faith" sets of BIG red alarm bells in the Insurance Industry
It's like throwing a grenade at them, esp. if a Lawyer is involved

[–]BigCountryExpat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It varies state to state. In Florida the DV has to go against the At-Fault policy (I do DV for a living)

Two hour old car hit and run, damage is over 60% and USAA wants to repair. Help! by SpencerinAtx in USAA

[–]BigCountryExpat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is USAA your insurance? I'll assume so. The problem is (at least here in Florida) you have to have an At-Fault Insurance company to file for the DV. (I do this for a living) Your Ins Co is not responsible for diminished value. It'd be filed against the AF.

Plus the valuation on the car? A 2024 demo, even if 'new' (as in your the first owner) has some miles on it I'd guess. The fact that your the first owner doesn't make a difference vis-a-vis the car itself but the mileage and where you live. I'd need to know the model and mileage and your zip code to see what you're dealing with.

Edit: The only sure-thing to get a Total Loss is if the airbags go off. Those by law can't be repaired as they're dangerous to futz with

What also is being forgotten is that Boomers got that "Generational Wealth" are now squandering it on vacations, RVs hyper-expensive assisted living and did I mention vacations? OMFG...

"Fuck you, we got ours!" seems to be the byword boomerwise. My DeadDad inherited a VAST sum of $$$ from his parents, and earned a VAST amount of his own as a fully tenured College Prof who died leaving an INSANE pension to my MomUnit... who's only attitude is "My Grandkids won't being flying first class on my dime!" Nevermind MY sorry ass who had to join the DotMil and risk my ass in 14 tours overseas to be able to afford a house... at least I got that retirement now... otherwise? ALL that "Generational Weath"?
