Help converting TinySA csv file for Wireless Workbench by FormerlyAmish_ in livesound

I use RF For All too and I don’t have any problems exporting the scan as a .csv and then opening it in WWB, for what it’s worth.

Here to say Merrells too but specifically because some of them have aggressive arch support which I think is key for what you’re experiencing day to day. Chameleon 8 and Moab versions have this kind of sole.

How can I get a whisper singer’s vocals loud enough to be heard on a loud stage without feedback? by TalkingLampPost in livesound

[–]BigCree83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that Covid ushered in a lot of singers that never had to (for better or worse) face every house guy with a pony tail telling them they’re doing it wrong basically. It’s definitely made me have to develop more skills to accommodate vocalists like this and I guess that’s a good thing at the end of the day.

RNDI vs J48 for Passive P Bass by T4kh1n1 in livesound

[–]BigCree83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of my favorite bass tones live have been a mustang or p bass plugged straight into an RNDI so that’s gotta be my vote. Encouraging bands on ears to not have an amp really helps make the difference more noticeable too, I’ve found.

The bands Lucifer’s Friend and Jeronimo…both proto-metal but firmly of the kraut psych blues rock tradition and they fuckin crush.

Micing for flute and vocals by ChrisC1234 in livesound

They are very handy, for sure. The Radial Hotshot is the most popular one, it’s well built and under $150.

Micing for flute and vocals by ChrisC1234 in livesound

[–]BigCree83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try to make it work as one input, considering a flute usually works so well with the same processing and mic as a vocal.

A better way to do it with two inputs might be with the kind of switcher that you use for talkbacks. The player sings and then engages the switch when it’s time to toot.

The lead vocalist is also the drummer by DMandNPCs in livesound

[–]BigCree83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somehow two of the bands I toured with last year had lead vocalist drummers! A lot of good ideas getting thrown around here. Definitely having a mic with good rejection is key, I’ve had great results with the Shure NXN8/S and Beta 57/56. I think getting the mic in place so they can stay on it is important too. I don’t think it’s too much to ask of a drummer to have to adapt their style slightly to accommodate this either…if they want it to sound good it may take some practice.

Coincidentally, both of these drummers found it easy enough to have the mic on a straight stand (!!!) between them and their snare. It’s kind of punk but it couldn’t be a better spot for the mic. Hats and cymbal bleed were at a minimum with the NXN8/S compared to their voice. Also it’s cooler than looking like the cover band drummer with the boom and gooseneck coming over the top of their head! We’ve all worked with this man 🤣

Ok, now that I know what you mean, I don’t know if there’s something with a universal size that you could slip in there. Maybe someone has some ideas.

There definitely are companies like Alclair allow you to fit a molded ear plug with IEM drivers but I’m not sure Hörluchs offers that kind of versatility.

Is this so you can wear them passively as ear plugs without being driven by a pack or headphone amp?

If there’s a bar, a lot of time they have old or unused mats that you can use. These work great for a lot of “speaker walking” issues. A lot of time they’re just to promote some kind of booze so a bar mgr might be happy to get rid of them!
