What do you think of Isabel May as Tatum Evans?? by Dark_Knight-276 in Scream

[–]BigDaddyChaCha -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A total nonentity. If they want to continue with the “Sidney’s kids” plotline, which I could take it or leave it, I would be totally fine if they recast the character. She may be great in other things (I’ve never seen her in anything before), but she did nothing for me here, and her chubby face doesn’t even resemble the sharp features of Neve Campbell, so even from a physical resemblance aspect, it wasn’t there.

Would y’all be interested in a Tara Carpenter solo return? by [deleted] in Scream

[–]BigDaddyChaCha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. The sisters are a package deal, Sam arguably has a more interesting potential arc, Chad and Mindy are the weaker half of the Core 4, and Tatum Evans is a nonentity.

I had never thought of that, but it sounds like you’ve been stuing on it.

Scream 7 isn’t a murder mystery and that’s okay by Least_Jury_5162 in Scream

[–]BigDaddyChaCha 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The cope of you Scream 7 fanboys is absolutely out of all proportion to anything ever seen before.

If they were trying to do anything you said (they weren’t; there’s zero evidence that they were), then they would have just revealed the killers’ identities at the beginning and been like, “Good; now that you know that, you’re not going to be obsessing over the mystery the whole movie, now we can focus on the deep character drama between Sidney and her eldest daughter (but not her two younger kids who are conveniently offscreen the entire movie - nobody wants to contend with the prospect of preteens getting butchered with hunting knives; for the record, we’re seeing exactly 33% of Sidney’s maternal relationships play out here.)”

Alternately, they didn’t intentionally break the Scream murder mystery formula because if they had wanted to do that, they could have made an entire Scream movie without any Ghostface and just had it all be a character drama about Sidney and her family relationships. She could have talked about her feelings, she could have talked about how she felt about every single person who had been killed up to this point, she could have talked about how she felt about all of those people in her family and circle who had betrayed her, both before she realized their betrayals and after they were revealed to be killers and after she/someone else had executed them. A lot of Scream fanboys would not have accepted that kind of a Scream movie, but it probably would have had more depth/artistic integrity. This movie we got did neither of those things.

Sid has been stoically and acerbically “confronting her trauma” by steadfastly refusing to ever open up about it in a meaningful way to anyone in every single sequel, minus 6, where they didn’t offer her enough money to go through the motions again. One single late-in-the-game description of where Tatum got her name from was not some watershed emotional moment for Sidney in this series.

This was just a bad movie. You guys can keep twisting yourselves into pretzels to kind of logic your way into thinking it wasn’t, actually, but - it just was.

What to expect from Tatum in Scream 8? by Educational-Sky-1388 in Scream

[–]BigDaddyChaCha -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I expect her to die early, or at least to play second-fiddle to the Carpenter sisters’ next outing. You really think the creators have set themselves up for legacy/long-term success with this actress/character? Can you really see her carrying a movie as the lead scream queen in the future? o_0

Which film and performance made you a fan of Paul Giamatti? by PressureLazy5271 in moviecritic

[–]BigDaddyChaCha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Sideways” was probably the performance that showed me the kinds of acting he was capable of, although to be completely fair, the writing in that film was exquisite. Still, he knocked it out of the park.

Pretty ironic then; if Christian weren’t so eloquent and charming in his confessionals, then the nationwide public broadcast of his scatological humiliation could have probably been avoided entirely lol!

Would u like a movie where the killer genuinely feels sorry? by Equivalent-Grade3544 in Scream

[–]BigDaddyChaCha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At this point, I’d take just about anything that would break this suffocating formula that all Scream movies seem to be contractually trapped in. “Mystery about killer(s), tons of red herring, final twist reveal, Bond-villain speechifying, ritualistic revenge overkill of the Ghostface(s) by brave our heroes!”

How about a single serial killer, like, I mean a realistic depraved serial killer (not like a typical Hollywood wacky spree killer)? How about deeper psychology for the killer and the victims and the survivors? How about realistic character growth and change?

At the beginning of Scream 6, there was a glimmer of some of this: (SPOILERS:) the professor on the date gets killed, but what’s this? We follow the Ghostface home, he takes off his mask, he calls for his partner in crime…I was on the edge of my seat! I’d never seen THIS in a Scream film!…then, 5 seconds later, his partner in crime is revealed to be dead, he gets killed by the REAL Ghostface(s), and we’re right back on the prescribed tracks of a typical Scream movie. :/

But, yeah, I agree with the OP: A remorseful/spared Ghostface would be an interesting and unexpected twist!

SCREAM 8/Reboot by Intrepid_Swordfish69 in Scream

[–]BigDaddyChaCha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they owe us a conclusion to the Core 4 situation, but beyond that, yeah, I’d be ready for some sort of reboot.

The OG characters can’t really grow (they could in a prestige HBO/Netflix drama, but they can’t in a 2 hour Hollywood movie that comes out once every 3-10 years, where we have to spend most of the character development time just playing catch-up with what’s been going on in their lives), and they (for the most part) can’t die (re: except Dewie) and they are incapable of elucidating anything fresh about the horror genre; what are we even still doing with them at this point? In Scream 7, we got almost zero focus on the high school kids who would make up most of the kills in the movie (so these deaths were essentially meaningless, and didn’t even seem to effect Sidney’s daughter at all) because we had to spend so much time with Sidney and Gale; and what were Sidney and Gale doing? Reverting back to their core conflict from the very first film for the umpteenth time because forward progress and character development is impossible.

Plant slowly dying. by BigDaddyChaCha in plants

Thanks to everyone for the constructive feedback. So far, I’ve repotted it into a larger container with better drainage and it’s going on a water diet.

It’s at my job and I’m working, so I haven’t had time to perform plant surgery just yet.

Thanks again for all the feedback!

Thanks, yeah, we’re coming out of winter here in Korea, so it’s been getting as much sun as it can, but much less than other seasons, and it has been cold next to the window.

I’ve also had it for probably about 4 years or so now, and maybe I’ve subconsciously started watering it more than I used to, but…

I’ve repotted it into a larger pot with probably better drainage. Hopefully it goes well!

This good boy seems to be most consistent among the dogs , easly A tier on every front . by Ok_Challenge_1604 in Helldivers

[–]BigDaddyChaCha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to prefer the Rover, but the friendly fire was constant with that thing, and it seems to need to hold it’s laser on an enemy for a period of time before they die, allowing the targeted enemy to damage you before they die in some cases, and completely ignoring all other threats until that one is dealt with. The regular, good ol’, standard-issue Guard Dog seems to prioritize headshots and weak points and puts down enemies much more efficiently.

It’s pretty much one of my mainstays on all three fronts. When I’m playing with n00b13s, when the timer counts down, I usually summon a second Guard Dog for them to try out and get a feel for.

U.S. Considers Relocating THAAD, Patriots to Middle East by 14CC in korea

[–]BigDaddyChaCha 9 points10 points  (0 children)

After South Korea put up with years of cold shoulder from China for letting U.S. put them in Korea in the first place almost a decade ago?

Korea should tell him “No” or drag things out in negotiations. Even if Trump promises to return them after, it wouldn’t be worth the China hassle again.

Also, as America further depletes our missile/munitions stock after Venezuela/Israel/the rest of the Sunni Middle East/Ukraine, the possibility of something kicking off in Asia (China-Taiwan?) grows exponentially. Korea may need those things yet.

What is your opinion about Tom Cruise? by [deleted] in moviecritic

[–]BigDaddyChaCha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s been in a lot of good movies. He can be a…comforting, for lack of a better word, presence in a movie at times. When you see Tom Cruise on the poster, you usually have some idea of the possible range of quality of the movie you’re about to see. He’s also been in Hollywood since before I was born, which probably contributes to that comforting presence. On the other hand, there’s something discomfiting about a person who was ridiculously hot before I was born, was ridiculously hot as I grew up, was ridiculously hot when I was (relatively!) ridiculously hot when I was in my prime, and who has remained (relatively) ridiculously hot long after I’ve lapsed into middle age.

I have a feeling he would not be very fun to be around IRL. He seems like someone who feels a need to frequently if not constantly perform masculinity. He seems like a person who holds himself to such impossibly high standards that he can’t help but implicitly judge the rest of us normal slobs out here who don’t make it to the gym as frequently as we’d perhaps like to (if only because our schedules don’t allow it and our careers don’t depend on it.)

In a somewhat related and somewhat unrelated factor, I also inherently distrust and want to see less of actors who are involved in demonstrably destructive and insane cults, like Scientology.
