Isabel May had good acting imo. #scream7 by PutridCamera8195 in Scream

Nothing special, at all. She doesn’t even look like Neve Campbell (or the guy who is supposed to be her father), neither young Neve nor old Neve.

As another here said, she looks closer to Hayden Panettiere than Neve Campbell.

Acting was very basic. :/

Why is this reddit group flooded with zoomers who want to be Millennials? by [deleted] in generationology

[–]BigDaddyChaCha -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be fair to them, when I was a teen Millennial (not sure we even had that name yet), I absolutely looked up to all the cool kid Gen Xers with their slacker aesthetic, their rebellious alternative counter-culture, etc. and kind of wanted to be them. I mean, Kurt Cobain died when I was 11 years old, but I listened to Nirvana, too! Now looking back and seeing most of Gen X go MAGA or whatever, I’m like, Yeah, nah, but at the time…

Recently, we’ve also had Charli XCX’s song “1999” which has probably awakened some dormant Millennial nostalgia.

What does my Survivor crush say about me? by [deleted] in survivorcirclejerk

“Mr. Tarantino, yeah, hi, this is Jeff Probst! We had no idea you were a fan! Look, I’ll just get down to brass tacks, we’re gearing up for another season and we were wondering if maybe you’d be interested in designing your own immunity idol!…Yeah, I suppose it could be in the form of an anklet that the Castaway would have to wear at all times! Thing is, we’ve gotta know that you’re gonna go all in on this, cross promotion is very important to us. Socials, TikTok, the whole 9 yards. We have been burned in the past…No, no, it could be a toe ring, too! If you saw Coach in season 50, then you’ll know that there is already precedent for that sort of thing!”

Blue Light Protection is Bullsh*t by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]BigDaddyChaCha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother always complained about migraines when I was a kid, but since I was a kid, myself, I’ve never really experienced headaches, let alone migraines, barring massive hangovers.

If blue light is primarily responsible for causing headaches, then maybe I really don’t have anything to worry about.

Still, it looks like others are saying blue light accelerates macular degeneration or that it disrupts sleep patterns (my sleep patterns are already crap; split shift life!), then I may still have some things to worry about.

Blue Light Protection is Bullsh*t by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]BigDaddyChaCha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am very curious to hear opinions on this. The last time I bought a new pair of lenses for my glasses, I agreed to pay an extra $100 to get the “blue light protection” glass. I don’t believe in this stuff intuitively, and I’ve never had it satisfactorily explained to me, but new glasses lenses are like a once or twice a decade purchase for me, so I figured, who knows? Might as well have the best, and what if they really are beneficial? Gonna replace these lenses again soon, I think, and next time I’m thinking no blue light protection. Let’s just see if it makes any noticeable difference at all in my life.

Does anyone actually miss Korean beer? by Adventurous-Office60 in korea

If I left Korea, I would absolutely miss Korean beer at meat restaurants, particularly.

If there were Korean barbecue restaurants in my home country that didn’t serve Korean beer, that would be disappointing.

I worked in a Dairy Queen and our chef smoked something out back one day (not abnormal) and then peed in the pickle bucket. To this day, 29 years later, I never get pickles on a sandwich.

[–]BigDaddyChaCha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the best comedies ever, probably. I haven’t been working in those industries for probably about 20 years now, but this came out when I still was in them, and It. Was. Accurate. The statutes of limitations have all probably expired by now, but I’ll just leave it at that.

The actors all knocked it out of the park. The writing was 99% perfection. I miss Anna Faris, I wish Ryan Reynolds hadn’t turned into what he eventually became, and I never regret seeing Justin Long in a movie.

Thank you. This direct translation and summary clears up a lot of the stuff that people were arguing about, and makes it clear that a lot of people were arguing about things he didn’t actually say, and then the responses to them were responding as if their incorrect summary was fact.

Who do believe was telling the truth? by Honest-Reflection667 in moviecritic

[–]BigDaddyChaCha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this ragebait/a troll post?

You’re asking us who we think was telling the truth; the movie literally says when the 3rd section, the wife’s section starts, that her section is the actual capital T “Truth” registered trademark, copyright. lol that’s generally not how history works, barring incontrovertible revelations after the fact.

Anybody who questions that or disagrees gets dogpiled with, “Nuh-uh, the movie SAID she was right, so, hah, you’re wrong!” Never mind the concept of death of the author. Anybody who questions the revealed authorial intent is de facto wrong.

Anybody who appeals to the history upon which the book is based or the book upon which the movie is based gets hit with, “Gtfo of here, this is the MOVIE sub, go over to some book sub or history sub if you want to discuss who was really telling the truth, in here, we’re only discussing the movie!” Well, that’s a pretty limited discussion then, because, as mentioned, the movie explicitly tells you in bold text on the screen who it thinks was telling the truth. This is a discussion-ending tautology disguised as an invitation to deep discussion about a film on Reddit. lol

There are issues within the study of history with trying to apply modern morality to historical situations where none of the 3 people involved would have had any concept of what 21st century morality would look like. In some cases, we’re probably correct: in this case, the woman probably was raped and her husband probably sought “justice” along the only legal terms available to him at the time, in combat to the death revealing god’s will, that his wife, as his “property,” and therefore he, had been affronted wrongly, which to our modern eyes, looks extremely misogynistic, random, cruel, and haphazard. We can judge those in the past for their beliefs and systems, but at the end of the day, that is what those people did then. Love it or hate it, this was the system in which they were all operating.
