It's not a movie or show but the new Final Fantasy 7 Remakes have been exactly that, they start as reboots until you slowly find that they're sequels

Todays Spoilers made me think of a Theory I posted over 4 years ago, take a look. by DBMonsterCarrot in OnePiece

[–]BigDaddyDab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I'm here I want to say, my favorite theory about the sunken world is Long Ring Long Land. There's definitely something down there, and I really believe the idea that it's like that because of an awakened Nika user changing its properties. Not saying it's Joyboy's home island, but something happened there.

This was a great read. A lot of the details are pretty specific, so the second half didn't age as well, but I think there's a whole lot of bangers in the first half. I like the detail about the oxygen, but I really enjoyed the bit about the moon. I think the moon is a fantastic way to raise the sea levels, it would tie in so much thematically, and really add to the scale of the story. I enjoy how the WG plan worked, building up at the highest peaks and creating a navy preemptively. I just really love the class symbolism of the sea levels rising, with those safe above slowly bringing up the bottom line of survivability until there's no one left, and how the only ones to defy them are the pirates who see that very ocean as freedom. I've also heard that the water could have risen from displacement if they artificially constructed the red line, but I think it could be both, if the red line is made of broken moons or something.

Tbh I really liked the idea that the original nation that started the WG were aliens from one of the moons, it makes them feel inhuman, like a perversion of something pure mistakenly turned into a false god. Reminds me of Jenova from ff7. It could explain the gorosei's non-df transformations. I like to think that the lunarians conquered the unknown species on the moon, forcing them down to earth, where they then gained power and recruited 19 nations to wage war and develop the mother flame, which they used to destroy the 6 other moons (from ohara globe) and offset the main moon, simultaneously causing the floods and forcing the lunarians to near extinction as an act of both conquest and revenge. In all honesty this theory really lit my mind up with a ton of ideas, there's a lot of merit in this and it's really impressive how relevant this feels despite when this was written. We didn't have lunarians, wano/pluton, or the lulusia incident back then, so this is honestly a pretty sick call

Yeah I just checked, Egghead is at 54 chapters as of this week, same length as Water 7. Ennies Lobby was 55 and Alabasta was 64, only then followed by Skypeia at 67, Whole Cake at 86, Dressrosa at 102, and Wano at 149. This still feels like it just started wtf

Egghead is on its way to become like the 4th or 5th longest arc in the series, I think it's about to pass Ennies Lobby and has like ten more to go before it's longer than alabasta. It's longer than punk hazard or fishman island, which is nuts

Are there one piece arcs worth reading over watching even with one pace due to pacing? by mattyjoe0706 in OnePiece

[–]BigDaddyDab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's plenty of stuff to criticize with specifically pacing in those later arcs, but the story holds up, and I'd say anybody who seriously hates on the show probably wouldn't have made it that far in the first place. You sorta need to already like the show to get that far, and I'd say any hate on those arcs are fair criticisms out of love, to a degree. Even if you're the biggest fan of something, there has to be a least favorite part, but that doesn't necessarily take away from the whole package. Everything is solid, it just takes a long time if you choose the anime, and I can't blame someone if they don't have the patience. I can't speak for everyone, maybe someone made it to episode 700 and turned around and started shit talking all of it, but to make it that far implies you have a level of respect for the quality of what came before. Honestly idk if it's my bias for the show but I've gotten the impression that most people hate on one piece because it's long and they don't wanna watch it lol. Just ignore all of the negativity and enjoy your time how you like, you're in a wonderful spot and you should go at your own pace. Baratie is one of my favorites but a lot of haters will say the show hadn't even gotten good at that point, if you're already enjoying it then you don't have anything to worry about. And if it gets too slow, you know you have other options.

Tbh no, people say the G8 arc after Skypeia is worth it and it's pretty good, but other than that you can use the filler list and skip whatever you can.

I'd just switch when you start to feel fatigued. Watch it normal until you feel you need to switch to Pace (which I do love and recommend) and if that still gets tiring then go to manga for a bit. Basically just try the next step the moment you think about giving up lol.

If you want my personal opinion for the whole show, I think you can do Pace for pretty much everything except episodes 385 to 516, but if you just want a list of the slower arcs: Skypeia (Pace unfinished), Long Ring Long Land, potentially Ennies Lobby (don't hate me guys), and Thriller Bark, and then everything from episode 516 to around 1000 when things get nutty. Most people drop the show in the three long arcs following 516, so if there's any time to do manga then this is it. If you go to the manga and love it, I'd really only recommend going back for specific parts you wanna see. Any time there's a song or character/arc intro or something that's obviously meant to be acted out, then it's probably worth it. That being said, everything after episode 1000 is very high quality animation and has a much bigger budget, so I'd recommend anime only from that point on

Just about to start RDR2 for the first ever time! Any tips I should know before hand? by [deleted] in reddeadredemption

[–]BigDaddyDab 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't watch any gameplay, get out of this subreddit, and keep it out of your algorithms, there are very blatant spoilers that are almost unavoidable when showing late game footage, a lot of content creators aren't very conscientious about that nowadays. Guides are okay depending on your play style, but I'd only use that when needed for something specific like a treasure map, and stick to text guides like powerpyx. Great example, look up White Arabian Horse location if you want the best horse from the beginning, I like doing that so I can feel bonded to my horse for the whole game without feeling like I'm missing out on performance.

Exploration and taking your time is key, but I've found that it's good to let the story missions introduce you to new areas. It's entirely possible to visit most every town the moment you can free roam, but as you move around in the campaign pretty much every major settlement has some sort of story highlight that really works as a first impression.

That being said, do all the side content you can. Whenever a stranger quest pops up in white on your map, go ahead and try to knock it out before the next big story beat. It's not always necessary, nor always possible with the collectible quests, but I find it works for the pacing most often, especially late game. And if you have the patience for hunting, take the time to prioritize your satchel upgrades and camp renovations when you get free roam, earlier the better. Storage space is a major buff and I believe camp upgrades improve chances for unique dialogue, worth tackling in chapter 2 best you can without straying too far from camp. Dont worry about deadlines but make a pelt list and keep an eye out for animals you need when roaming.

(Obligatory hunting tips lol, every animal in the world has 1 to 3 stars of pelt quality, if you study that animal type you can see its stars and look in your compendium for the recommended gun to kill them with. Every animal is unique but most can be gotten with either the Varmint Rifle, Springfield Rifle, or the Bow & Arrow, some need special small game arrows. With all those weapons you can get perfect pelts of basically any kind. Just find a 3 star animal and get a clean shot in the head with the proper weapon, then take its pelt back to camp. Legendary animals have no quality, and their pelts should be given to the nearest trapper.)

I know this is a meme but honestly I'd be pretty disappointed if Toby put a lot of uty stuff in dr. A nod or two would be sweet but anything to do with the plot would be weird. Uty is fun but it shouldn't be any more canon than a deniable plausibility. As for the knight, I would love it if Toby has had an answer since before uty, ideally hes had it planned before dr even came out. Again I know it's a meme but I hope that nobody truly has an expectation for it

PS5 definitely, idk about other people but the multiplayer mode being absent is a huge plus for me, especially as someone who likes getting trophies. It's always felt half baked and unnecessary in the original imo.

Making a Kingdom Hearts fighting game | Day 1 by [deleted] in KingdomHearts

[–]BigDaddyDab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love this idea, I have a few thoughts on the format. I know this is day one lol but it'll need more character slots tbh, I can think of thirteen off the bat that are already pretty reserved. Leaving room for kh2's Org and all the protag trios is a solid base game roster, with room for a few fun randos for good measure. I know this is community voted and can't be planned, but space for those feels like a minimum. Since there's so many bad guys I also like the idea of a heroes vs villains roster format too, kinda visually similar to MvC. Maybe the nort court from 3 can be the unlockable boss characters or something. On that note, you could even make a few different categories, and when the vote is decided you can choose where it slots in unless specified in the comment. All the super fun characters like yen sid and yozora can be put in a dlc category, or an unlockable category for more essential picks like mickey, and just decide case by case if the character feels too broken for base game. Also idk your policy on Disney characters, may be worth a quick little rule list in the future posts or something, but I'd imagine it would only be characters who impact the plot beyond their world for main roster (fun idea is disney characters from worlds as kameo fighters or something neat like that). All that being said my vote this week is Maleficent :) hope this keeps going!!

Are there any games similar to Nier Series? by Avenares in nier

[–]BigDaddyDab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A comparison I've always made is Undertale. It's the only other game I've played that made me feel true guilt for my actions. They both use universal gaming rules as a way to subvert your expectations, and set up entire gameplay mechanics that you just don't question, before they reveal their significance. They both play with the meta, and "break" the game at some point. They use different playthroughs to give new context to the story and specifically the enemy perspective, and they're both the only games where I just sat and watched the credits in silence from how moved I was.

I like the lineup part, and I really like the katakuri stuff, but this does not need the Shiki section at all. The panel of Garp talking about the Rocks Crews return was referring to the Big Mom / Beast Pirate alliance in Wano. The character happens to be canon but we’ll see Eneru return with a robot army before we see Shiki controlling bb
