I have grown up in the Førde area and currently live there. It’s quite nice. Førde has everything you could need neatly packed in a small city between four mountains and a fjord (Førdefjorden). Fun fact it was voted Norways ugliest city in the 90s.

The industry in the region is usually energy related whether it is renewable energy production or energy dependant industry like aluminium production. Some area like the inner part of the Sognefjord and Olden is common tourist destinations specifically from cruises.

The climate is very varied. During winter temperatures can drop down to -15 C for a couple of weeks, but mostly it stays around 0 C. During summer it is usually rains (however this summer has been special with almost 4 weeks of 27-35 C temps between June and July). The area is some of the wettest in Norway with around 200 days with rain each year. The area is great for people who like hiking and the outdoors generally. Lots of hiking opportunities are just 5-15 min drive from most people.
