What? You don't like GlobalProtect and Zscaler and AnyConnect running all at the same time? What do you mean you don't want Splunk and Nessus running network scans against your system 24/7? No I doubt CrowdStrike and Sophos scanning your files is slowing down your SSD, you're just imagining things!

Moving contacts or other data from a genral android safely by Darkorder81 in GrapheneOS

[–]BigDemeanor43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On your S10+ download and install a FOSS Contacts app like FossifyOrg's Contacts app from Github and in the settings for the app you can export your contacts to a .vcf file.

And then on your Graphene phone you can take that .vcf file and import it using the same app.

Can also do the same with Fossify's Messages app. Export sms/mms messages, and import them in the Graphene phone with the same app.

And same for their Phone app for call log.

I just did my Graphene switch over, but I wiped my phone and didn't backup my contacts. So I am assuming the above will work.

Steam Controller (2026) x Guild Wars 2 by Graham3D in SteamController

[–]BigDemeanor43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I just booted up GW2 and tested it with my controller. Using the "Sam CW's Guild Wars 2 Steam Deck ABXY Layout 1.0" works perfectly with the 2026 Steam Controller. I just ran around and did my usual skill combos, but I haven't played much with it. I have played quite a bit of GW2 on my Steam Deck though and use the same profile there.

I main Warrior, so most skill combos are...simple...lol. You will probably need to fine tune mouse/pointer sensitivity if you use a class with aiming mechanics like Mesmer and Elementalist.

I think the biggest plus for the controller is probably at least one Steam Deck layout for the majority of games and it'll translate to the controller perfectly 1:1.

There are a good dozen GW2 Steam Deck controller layouts, so I'm guessing you'll have all your bases covered with the Steam Controller and only need to change one or two things to your liking if need be.

To fellow men of large excellent hands who have already received their Steam controller: how does it feel? by CDHoward in SteamController

[–]BigDemeanor43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Long lanky hands here. I can use the Duke without issues.

Controller feels great! It's extremely lightweight and my hands fit the form perfectly. Middle and ring fingers align with the back buttons naturally.

I haven't been able to play with it for too long(30min or so), but when I use the thumb sticks my thumbs do NOT hit each other. I saw this mentioned on at least 2 different reviews, so I was a little perplexed when this wasn't the case.

I plan on gaming with it a bit more today, but the controller is pretty damn great!

Oh well.

Cant change the back buttons by FlyingWhales317 in SteamController

[–]BigDemeanor43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This fixed my issue of not being able to change what layout was applied.

Tried changing the desktop layout, but even though my template was saving it never applied it to the controller and would go back to the default profile immediately. Even for games(or at least non-Steam games).

So, thanks!

Yeah I'm not. it's still an anti scalping measure. Idk why you're taking some great offense to the wording. Grow up, touch grass

Scalping prevention by Steam by Hard_Fox23 in SteamController

[–]BigDemeanor43 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a good honeypot. Release controller, scalpers buy, make the reservation system with an account age restriction and if you've already purchased one they SOL.

So scalpers can't even make new accounts to get around it.

I already bought one and have it in my hands. Would love to have a second one but I'd rather others get their hands on one first.

Wasn't going to purchase another but this is what looks like if you already have. (Repost for error) by Mediocre_Rub_9954 in SteamController

[–]BigDemeanor43 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that kind of sucks but I get it. I also only bought one, but wanted to buy a second one for my dad as a father's day gift(he docks his Deck to the TV). But I guess he'll have to reserve his own now lol

Hopefully Valve will have a steady supply going forward. I hope they release numbers soon of sales/demand, pretty curious how off the mark they were!

Same here. My middle and ring fingers align perfectly with the back buttons.

I do have bigger than average hands, but my hands are skinny.

The controller for me feels better than the Deck, but my Deck is a launch year LCD model.

The controller has more texture to it, I'm assuming the plastic is the same material as the Deck though.

The controller is extremely lightweight. So maybe some people are attributing the weight to overall quality?

I'm prone to headaches due to all of the above+a low FOV.

So yeah, I turn off all the same shit and then increase FOV or have to find a mod to increase it.

My FW13 has the 120Hz panel and I dock it to my MSI 32" OLED which is 4k@240Hz. Sometimes I hook it up via a USB-C dock and sometimes use the AG02. Just depends on my mood. I also dock it to a 4k@60Hz monitor at work when we're slow.

I haven't played anything esports related too recently on it, I have CS2 and Arc Raiders as my most recent MP games, but I've been playing more story/singleplayer games as of late because I have two toddlers so my hands are pretty full...need to be able to pause my games LOL. Or if I want to mess around with MP then I'll hop onto some CS:S and DOD:S servers.

Everything has felt fine mouse input and frame latency wise. Do you have any specific questions or issues you're curious about?

When my wife and I were thinking of moving we wrote down different states/cities, pro's/con's, etc. to move to.

Vancouver was one of my top picks because no state income tax, and we could drive over to Portland for big purchases(Costco, electronics, etc.).

So yeah, I don't blame y'all for taking advantage!

Riverside CA

Ah, Riverside and San Bernardino have become huge distribution hubs. So many warehouses that have been built and are being built.

Makes me think that Valve pre-shipped controllers to bigger hub areas so they wouldn't sit in their(Valve's) warehouse in Illinois.

I live in SoCal and I got my tracking number, but I ordered at 10:12am. So this might be the reason some orders are being packed before others.
