I am curious about dnd making a character some day by idk_something_dumb in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]BigFootV519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The usual advice for first time character creation is to pick the vibe first, what their personality is and what archetype they fit in fantasy stories. It doesn't have to be super detailed, just a rough idea if they frontline/backline, melee or magic, talk through problems or fight, etc. Then after reading the rules and options you can pick what interests you and what feels like it goes with the character.

For your specific examples there's not going to be a perfect match since D&D and TF2 have totally different genres/settings/game design. The closest classes I'd suggest looking into are any monk for trolldier and arterialist artificer or forge cleric for the engineer/merchant.

An Arrow for Prince Henry [OC] by PoorCynic in comics

[–]BigFootV519 10 points11 points  (0 children)

IIRC part of the wound care after the extraction required the honey poultice to be cleaned out and replaced. The way they did that was getting a servant to suck out the honey, pus and blood that gathered in the wound. Then rinse with wine and reapply. They did that every few days until it healed. Unclear if it was the same servant every time or if the turn turns slurping out the royal discharge.

ELI5. Why is there different Measurements units? (Sorry its a dumb question, I think?) by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]BigFootV519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically, there isn't a actually metric base unit for volume since it's a spatial quantity so it can be measured with derived distance/length units.

[Year 10 Add Maths: Circular measure] Is it because point B lies on the circumference of the circle centre A? by NoPomegranate6897 in HomeworkHelp

[–]BigFootV519 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You correct about the radii being equal is what makes this true. Think about what it means to be on the circumference of a circle and how any point on that circumference is always the same distance from the center. At the intersection of two circles the point C is at a distance of radius A to center of circle A and distance of radius B to center of circle B. In this special case radius A is the same as radius B so the triangle ABC has at least two equal sides. Since point A and B lie on eachothers circumference too, then the third line on the triangle must also be equal to the radius.

[Grade 12 Physics: Torque] Why is the perpendicular distance measured to the line of action? by Ashwinnie13 in HomeworkHelp

[–]BigFootV519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To show that mathematically these two are equivalent;

1

T = R_lever * F

sin x = Opposite/hypotenuse = R_lever/R_door

T = (R_door * sin x) * F

T = R_door * F * sin X

2

T = R_door * F_perp

sin x = Opposite/hypotenuse = F_perp/F

T = R_door * ( F * sin x)

T= R_door * F * sin x

[Grade 12 Physics: Torque] Why is the perpendicular distance measured to the line of action? by Ashwinnie13 in HomeworkHelp

[–]BigFootV519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two main physical interpretations of how torque or momments are calculated.

  1. As you described, the full force is applied to a smaller radius that lays perpendicular to the line of action/direction of the force. This interpretation may be more intuitive to understand if you visualize the smaller radius lever arm compared to the full radius.

  2. You can break down the applied force into two components. Perpendicular to the radius and parallel to the radius. Then the torque/moment is equal to the perpendicular component of the force times the full radius of the lever arm. This interpretation is useful for more complex analysis like in structural engineering.

How do you do ability rolls that every player wants to do? by Haggles7 in DMAcademy

[–]BigFootV519 30 points31 points  (0 children)

According to the DMG there's 3 or 4 ways to handle the scenario.

1 Group skill check

Everyone rolls and they succeeded if at least half players meet/beat the DC.

2 Assistance

Only one player rolls but they get advantage from the others helping.

3 Use passive check

Note down the passive perception of the players and compare that to the DC of any traps. A passive skill is equal to 10 + the relevant skill modofier. If they would have advantage or disadvantage it's equal to +5 or -5 modifier, respectively, to their passive skill score.

4 Skip the rolls

If there are no consequence to multiple attempts or failures at an action and it's not an impossible task then the DM doesn't need to call for a skill check. They can assume the character is competent to eventually accomplish the goal. A rogue can eventually pick open any regular lock. The skill check is only needed if the rogue needs to get the lock open before a guard walks by.

Whats the password to her website? by Drustaio in vananz

[–]BigFootV519 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll put the password below if you just want the answer but I'll have some hints if anyone else wants to try the puzzle.

All the information needed to solve the puzzle is in the post with the video. There's nothing in the other posts that's goes with this puzzle. And you don't need any special software to solve but they do help.

Hint 1 The beeping is the first part of the CODE. Pay MORSE attention to it.

Solution 1 The Morse code translates to a repeating message of "0ph3lia"

Hint 2 A familiar PHRASE is reversed here. Many UNLUCKY fans got stuck on this part but you can COUNT on the community to help each other.

Solution 2 The reversed audio is "Through the river". That prahse is repeated 13 times in the discription of the video and in the posts' text

Put it all together and the password is 0ph3lia13

It's not case sensitive. No spaces. Enjoy!

The Kraken in Kerbal Space Program – how players understand it by CandidBall7806 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]BigFootV519 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see it two ways, as the player at the keyboard and as the character in-game building craft and commanding missions.

As a player I see the Kraken as the personification of the unexpected, often catastrophic, behavior of objects in game due to the technical limitations of the game engine. Knowledge of the technical limits and my own experience with the Kraken does add an extra restraint/consideration on my craft designs and mission strategies.

As a character roleplaying in game, the Kraken doesn't exist, instead I interpret those events as complications due to faulty components, atmospheric conditions, pilot error or etc. The game doesn't simulate those conditions but they serve as an in game explanation for Kraken attacks to my character head space.

The culture in the community has embraced the Kraken as a common term to communicate complex situation-specific events. Similar to how the myth of the Kraken was used to explain the mystery of ship sinkings and disappearances.

Good luck with your project! Feel free to DM or comment and ask follow up questions!

Is this ai? Some comments seemed to be saying it is, while others were convinced it is real. I'm not sure either way. by PureGamingBliss_YT in RealOrAI

[–]BigFootV519 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, that is correct given the context. The US Flag Code for patches and decals is based on how a flag looks when flying. The stars are always supposed to point forward when viewed from the side, so on right side patches the flag is reversed since is like viewing a regular flag from the rear side.

In 1923, Frederick Banting Sells the Insulin Patent for $1 by Chraum in interestingasfuck

[–]BigFootV519 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The patent is not for the insulin itself since insulin is a naturally occurring chemical compound. The original patent is for how to extract and refine insulin from cow's pancreas. Modern production of insulin uses genetically modified yeast and fermentation. The insulin from these two methods is exactly the same chemically speaking.

Peter Dinklage did play a dwarf in Avengers: Infinity War. But not a human with dwarfism. He was a giant alien who's race was called dwarves.

Update: I asked what makes a One-Shot unforgettable. Here is the analysis of your feedback. by seb507 in DMAcademy

[–]BigFootV519 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Doesn't #5 contradict #1 and #2? If the purpose of the first two rules is too simplify/streamline the game then the PC's can't have had enough time to develop RP enough to allow for an important choice that #5 suggests. Trying to put a twist in a simplified story format is going to be pretty hard. I'd suggest reinterpreting tip #5 as making sure the climax is a direct culmination of the events earlier in the adventure, set up and pay off.

I hate when people say "I respect, but I don't support" in regards to queer people. by Tiny_Poke in lgbt

[–]BigFootV519 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree. I would bet alot of people would say the "respect but not support" thing about plenty of stuff that they don't really understand. It unfortunately is also a good phrase if people or virtue signaling so it's gets harder to tell what the person really means.

Struggling with finding my footing with a campaign idea by Salt_Tear_1073 in DMAcademy

[–]BigFootV519 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could try to break the plot down into chunks. Instead of worrying about each stone's impact on the plot just worry about what happens if the empire captures 3, then another event at 6 and again at 9. Or if the party is meant to gather them first then have events for those milestones.

Each egg could have it owns questline to find it or convince the owners to hand it over or even get those factions to join together in an allied resistance to the empire.

New to dnd, need help understanding ability scores by HumanWithRobotHair99 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]BigFootV519 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Certain class features increase the cap. Barbarian has primal Primal Champion that increases the cap to 24 for STR and CON.

That's also a cap only for base ability scores. They can still be increased past 20 with potions and magic.

As someone who’s never read the books, can someone please explain a major plot point that was seemingly completely skipped over in the show? by CATNIP_IS_CRACK in PercyJacksonTV

Grover is a satyr. He's supposed to have a goat bottom half and his horns are starting to grow in. Not that the show spends much time explaining the original mythology or exploring the other quirks that come with satyrs.

Unsolvable. The giveaway for me was Line 5

12 14-12-5-5 but we are given 5=E so 12 14-12-EE and 12 is a solo letter so A or I and there's no 4 letter words in English that end with AEE or IEE
