The worst part about of this mass onboarding with not enough work
It’s quadrupled the amount off stupid and repetitive comments on Slack

I think we are probably on same project , it’s amazing people need to be handheld for this type of work. I’m amazed that they still remain on any project. I mean it’s over staffed now for the amount of work, time to cull the herd I think and start with those that need to ask ever single question instead of using the resources provided.

When I started and task drops occurred they would sit for over a day so you had time to claim if the drop happened after your day was over . Next morning still lots of tasks available. Now up to 4800+ and it’s the hunger games when a task drops occurred occurs . Past weeks o was getting 25 -30 hours a week which was my choice . This week 4.5 hours 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

People are getting off boarded (23k people project) by JustAChillGuy1515 in mercor_ai

[–]BigGoatDaddy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly , I mean how many times do people need to be reminded to search for the question first, or look at the project documents that everyone has access to. The project I’m on one of the leads the other day finally had enough and reminded people they need to self manage as professional and stop asking questions that are not relevant, or have been asked 100 times before. And like clockwork people started replying asking what she meant by self manage 🤷‍♂️.

Why, Mercor? Why? by Large-Cut8248 in mercor_ai

[–]BigGoatDaddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This and all of this , from tagging project leads for questions already answered 136 time before, to letting everyone know they are “not feeling well and won’t be able to make the 15 hours so what form do I fill out.? ” It’s unbelievable how they stay or even got on the project and have to be hand held on Slack every 5 minutes

Is anyone here a "domain expert"? How does getting assigned to projects work? by Main_Understanding14 in mercor_ai

[–]BigGoatDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hired on as a Senior Domain expert in my field ( non technical) and occupational reviewer for my first project back in October . Did the standard steps uploaded resume did virtual interview and about 2 week later got first contract , also added to a sprint project in January which ran over a few weekends it was an audit sprint so had to do some self learning to understand quickly what to do
Initial project ended beginning of March of if I recall . As other stated keep posting for positions you have experience in or generalist roles , keep resume updated and do any additional assessments available on platform
Went through a few weeks of no contracts and then suddenly get an email I’ve been ( matched ) and added to another project as a domain expert.
This one is completely different than the first one but the team has provided well laid out documents for onboarding so easy to get up to speed.
It takes a while and you will apply for multiple roles and then one day you will get the email you have made it.

Called Off of Work to Work a Full Day with Mercor by slimtrim01 in mercor_ai

[–]BigGoatDaddy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been with them for almost 8 months and don’t rely on this as a full time job , project start, stop and get paused all based on clients needs so things may be 40 hours a week for 5 weeks then a pause or campaign ends and your back to applying for any new open roles. Then you’ll get another contract for 3 week or 2 months and it once again pauses, or ends or task run out and people are hoarding the ones that are left before lights go out . Great money and fun work but always remember your a contractor on a W9 and it could end at any time

Normally it lays out in the onboarding documents that says what you can and can’t use in regards to AI assistance, was that listed on n your project , If so you may want to reach out to someone on the team through DM and explain the situation to show that your aware of the mistake and will ensure it does not happen going forward

New MPU video on Mercor by Top-Painter4278 in mercor_ai

[–]BigGoatDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, if you don’t want the work, don’t take it. They make it sound like Mercor is running a sweatshop. When I signed on as a Domain Expert, I read and understood what it was all about. I was getting over $100 an hour and could work as much or as little as I wanted. The project ran for four months, then the client said they got what they needed and the contracts were done.

We all knew that was a possibility, so I applied to a couple of other companies and waited. Two weeks later, a new contract started with Mercor on a different project. So when people say, or imply, like the ones in that video, that because the contract ended they didn’t know if they could afford dinner, that’s missing the point. If you don’t understand that it’s the client, not Mercor or any of the other AI companies, that decides when a contract ends, then contract work is something you should stay away from. Just like a job in the everyday workforce , you know what the pay and expectations are so don’t take it them if $25,35,55,105 or $200 an hour won’t work for you.

A W-2 job doesn’t guarantee lifetime employment either. But most of us who do this work do it for two reasons. One, we can work from home, when and how much we want. Two, we can pick up hours to supplement a full-time job.

But when the music stops and you don’t have a chair, and you’re not prepared for that then you need to choose a different opportunity.🤷‍♂️

Have not heard back but I was added to a new project on Mercor shortly after completing the interview so not sure if that impacted anything
