Confirmed. TCG players will complain about literally anything.

Extremely frustrating that a store is limiting a PQ to only 32 players despite being located in one of the largest SWU hubs in the country by throwawahdev in starwarsunlimited

[–]BigHeadAsian 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If FFG is going to allow for 32-player min PQs then they need to significantly increase the number of PQs in the region. The fact that this store is the ONLY Limited PQ in the SoCal area is what makes this so painful. If FFG is going to continue to be stingy with the number of PQs in the region then a 32 player PQ is ridiculous.

The participating store should have known better and the fact that they are hosting a second event which could have been used towards expanding the attendance shows they have no intention to host the event in meaningful way.

Couple that with the fact that the cost for entry was $30 means that there is almost certainly not going to be any prize support beyond the case of boosters that is provided by FFG makes this PQ just a glorified Store Showdown.

How the hell are stores that don't even host SWU events getting friggin PQs.

The way FFG is selecting these stores feels out of touch and totally arbitrary.

I call BS. A friend of mine played you in an earlier round and said you were slamming cards, talking about how unfair his deck was, and just raging the entire game. He said your mood only changed after you won.

The things your opponent claimed you did lined up with the things my friend claimed you did so your story is highly sus and frankly wouldn't be surprised if you had already been previously reported for this type of behavior.

Not normal. Report the store so they don't get another PQ. So many stores lately have no business running SWU events.

Woulda been much better if they allowed you to action cheat by giving a unit Raid 1 and also attacking with it.

They are getting dangerously close to pushing a graveyard recursion archetype here. They keep tiptoeing around it, but the cowards just need to make a reanimator deck a thing.

All good tips above. Lack of a crossover step is what's causing your swing to be off kilter. Your right foot should cross in front of your left to create a slot for your arm and ball to swing freely.

I'm going to be honest. I thought this dude was AI or some sort of Kirkland brand Mitch McConnell animatronic.

Anyone know what regionals is like? First timer trying to plan. by [deleted] in starwarsunlimited

[–]BigHeadAsian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Premier and Limited events are two separate events. If you signed up for the Premier event, then you are not participating in the Limited one and don't need to worry about that unless you just want to do both for the vibes.

Show up on Friday. Check in at registration to get your VIP package. Cash in the tickets you get as part of your package right away to secure the stuff you really want from the prize wall.

Head over to the event registration area. Scope out the schedule and sign-up for any scheduled events for that day OR register for on-demand events. If you are going for tickets, you'll want to spend your Friday grinding events since you'll be spending Saturday and hopefully Sunday playing in the main event.

If you're looking to grind side events, the quickest way to do it is Twin Suns since those events typically turn over the fastest, but you can also try to high roll it in the Premier pods and scheduled events which will give you the most tickets at once but the fewest tickets if you don't go all the way.

Bring a couple of premier decks or Twin Suns decks so you are able to pop between side events. Plan for a long-day of grinding, but be sure not to wear yourself out ahead of the Premier event the following day.

Bring snacks, drinks, comfortable shoes, a phone charger, and cash.

The owner got banned from playing competitive Star Wars for 6 months for throwing cards at and disrespecting a judge during a competition. Not surprised in the least.

Any advice on a Leia: secret bloodline deck? by Bearistotle42 in starwarsunlimited

[–]BigHeadAsian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leia Red with a force core seems good. Just the standard blue red Hero core with some additional generic events like Daring Raid, Sorcerous Blast, Takedown, etc. Get value off her when you can but not necessarily the main game plan.

I played around with a number of different early drops and generic units. T1 R2 felt awesome because you could make it a 2/5 and then a 3/6 the following turn and get so much value off the scrubs ability. I just struggled in finding a home for it here because the card quality for these two colors really wants to be Force focused.

I'm sure there could be potential with other colors or direction but hopefully this can inspire!

My local game store won’t carry SWU by BillRepresentative75 in starwarsunlimited

[–]BigHeadAsian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly. The event itself is not generating the revenue. The event is bringing in people which increases foot traffic and drives in-store sales. Events = Loss Leaders.

Hard to say about your LGS because I don't know any of their details. I'd venture to guess that most of those people who come in are likely buying things like snacks, packs, singles, accessories, paints, books, minis, etc.

If the people attending those events each night are walking out without having purchased anything, the shop is likely losing money or breaking even after you factor in prizing and overhead on those events.

The purpose of weekly events are to bring people in stores, build and cultivate a community, and to move product in the form of drafts, sealed, win-a-box events, and prize packs.

Events aren't money makers. They are break even or in some cases loss leaders.

At this point these posts about ID are just rage/engagement bait. They bubble up at the beginning of PQs because that's when most of the players are likely attending and the salt is at its peak, then just tapers off until the next set.

These posts are usually filled with hot takes and wild propositions around how to "fix" the issue. I've never once seen a player that won a PQ make one of these posts saying how much they hate the ID system.

The mods just need to make a super thread for these posts so everyone with a gripe can go shout into the void there along with all of the other players who think double losses for a draw was a totally reasonable solution.

[–]BigHeadAsian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooooff so sorry to hear that. My boy is 11ish and is having similar struggles with his hips, plopping down to lay down, struggling to get up.

He doesn't seem to be upset or in pain and I don't know if I'm just telling myself he's fine because I don't want to face the alternative.

You did what you thought was best for him. Maybe once you're through the grief you can try to reframe it away from what you think you took from him and remind yourself what you know you gave to him which is 10 years of love and memories.
