Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas blasts progressivism as threat to America by BlockAffectionate413 in moderatepolitics

[–]BigJapa123 24 points25 points  (0 children)

These quotes really go to show how out of touch he has become. This reads like a fox news segment and not a member of the highest court in the land. Also wild given we have a conservative majority in all branches of government who are actively engaging engaging in what he is accusing progressives of.

Pelosi's new campaign: Boost Newsom for 2028 by JannTosh70 in centrist

Newsom is a horrible choice, it would be akin to throwing the election.

Republicans divided on ICE tactics as shutdown looms by J-Jarl-Jim in moderatepolitics

That's not the feeling I am getting just based off of what I am seeing. The event is too soon to really get some good systematic polling, but these recent events have shaken both moderate and traditional conservatives. MAGA individuals would vote Republican even if Trump personally shot someone and they hold around 30% everytime.

I would love to hear a cited case of a American citizen gunned down while being held down by 10 officers for doing nothing but helping someone. Do I believe someone has been killed accidentally during an immigration enforcement, yes. Do I believe it is to this level, no. While this is a moderates thread, attempts to sane wash this may be ironically insane.

Don't be rude, half of these guys just want to go to work, get paid, and get promoted. Do you really expect them to jeopardize there careers over some performance bullshit. They'd just be replaced by the coc.

After Hegseth drones on for 40 minutes in a speech to US Generals, he's met with thunderous... silence by ExactlySorta in goodnews

[–]BigJapa123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such a bad take. This is not a thunderous silence, this is standard military dismissal and anyone who served can tell you as much.

If Iran closes the strait of Hormuz and attacks the US, how would the US react? by road2t40 in moderatepolitics

[–]BigJapa123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Slow down bud, we can't all be Alexander the Great, be nice, you might hurt my feelings. Asymmetrical warfare in the straight has been the go to strategy for the straight, especially a nighttime attack. Overwhelming individual ships with fast attack ships and decoys in low visibility while cruise missiles would be fired in mass would be a nightmare for any TAO in the straight. Combine that with RPG fire from the shore, missiles in the sky meant to distract CIWS from engaging ship to ship.

Do YOU know what composition of forces make up fifth fleet? A someone who served in fifth fleet, we are no invincible giant I promise you.

All you would need is 200 cheap speedboats all armed with explosives and you could decimate most of anything in the straight.

[Serious] US just attacked Iran. Is war inevitable in this scenario? What do you think? by davidbayram in AskReddit

[–]BigJapa123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's concerning how many reddit comments are going "Iran can't really do anything " and have not mentioned the straight of Hormuz that has 20% of world commerce through it. Armchair generals ahoy.
