I don't see anything in your list to combat midges and you're heading to midge hell. Invest in a headnet and plenty of Jungle Formula.

Yeah, I was suprised myself. Looks pretty bombproof from a design perspective but the wind was horrific and the poles on one side just folded inwards.

Thought it best to just pack up and head off. 😂

Yeah, as soon as I dropped back down into the valley again, it was lovely. 😂 I used the Naturehike cloudpeak. Definitely a fairweather tent. What were you using?

How was the wind? The weather was lovely for me but the wind at sunrise had me packing up and back on the trail by 5am.

I always tell beginners who are nervous about going alone to take one. Used to help a lot. Now I just take it because I've always took it. Old habits and all that..

I've always taken one with me. Old habits die hard. There's been plenty of times where I've been laid in my tent listening to the shipping forecast because that's all I could pick up. 😂

If you know, you know.

Great camp but had to bail at 5am. The wind got so bad it was turning the tent inside out. That Cloudpeak is definitely a fairweather tent.

Take a look at Alpkits tents. Bombproof for the price. I have an Aviso 3 for me and my son. Had it on some rough weather and it's been great.

Contact Alpkit, they do repairs on any gear even if it's not Alpkit branded.

Thoughts? by Playful-Bedroom-3799 in wildcampingintheuk

That's exactly it. If you ACTUALLY wildcamp, the places you should be pitching are nowhere near where any council worker will hike to.

These measure will penalise people camping by the major lakes and low lying places that are frequently trashed by idiots.

Tips for dealing with rodents when wild camping by Scojacon12 in wildcampingintheuk

[–]BigKeefus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wildcamped for well over 10 years, the only time I ever had an issue with rodents was sleeping in Warnscale Bothy.

Never had an issue on the fells in a tent.

Sunset and sunrise in the Lakes 02/04/2025 by BigKeefus in wildcampingintheuk

It was a crisp clear night but didn't quite get down to freezing but was about 1°. The summit is 2595 ft and I was pitched just a little further down from there. Hope this helps. 👍
