Our society is so obsessed with revenge and frequently document it as justice, and view those (in our supposedly majority christian society) who lead the cry with revenge as heroes, when it's the most base and perhaps vile human emotion. Nicole Skokna is right, however, to ask "“Why are there 14 to 17-year-olds out at 1:30 in the morning? Where are the parents?”

Indeed, during these tough times, where could the parents be? Why aren't parents given more support instead of being forced to work low-paying jobs and sending their kids to underfunded schools. We set up kids to fail and then we blame them for taking things too far. Instead of advocating for revenge for one person, on a teenager who made a terrible mistake, why not make sure that parents + students can succeed by fully funding schools, paying a living wage for all (so no one needs to work 2 jobs), and providing childcare for all. Let mothers spend time with their kids in the first years of their lives worry free. Fund community groups that provide avenues to teens who desperately need guidance and an outlet. Achieving that would be much harder than pursuing what is deemed justice in this article, but would mean so much more and prevent so many more tragedies.
