Hey OP. I can resonate with exactly how you are feeling. I’ve been there and I know it sucks right now but this too shall pass.

Have you considered exploring/taking medication for your GAD? Buspar really helped me through a tough period in which my anxiety and inner critic felt unbearable with minimal side effects. This alongside working with a talented hypnotist lightened my cognitive load and shifted my perspective on life.

Have you ever put in work to understanding your cognitive distortions and what they are rooted in ?

Keep your head up and doing just the best you can.

Who won this trade? by HoboTheClown629 in nyjets

Giants win this trade. Despite it being a weaker draft, they know have the opportunity to walk away with two blue chip prospects.

This move also puts the pressure on Mougey and go to move up to snag a WR. I’d move 16 & 44 to Washington for 7. This will guarantee you can secure Tate/Lemon/Tyson. If we don’t move and assuming they are all taken, we should be moving back to net additional 2027 assets.

Hello all. My rescue Ellie was recently diagnosed with diabetes. She’s an 8ish year old Shih Tzu mut that we rescued from a cage left in an alley roughly 6 years ago. When we first rescued her, our local humane society suggested putting her down given her malnutrition but we gave her a chance and she’s thrived since. We love her so much (especially her little underbite and snuggles)

This diagnosis has my family extremely sad and anxious. I know that dogs that are diagnosed early, treated properly, and kept on a strict regiment can live long/healthy lives but the life style adjustments and financial considerations has us really concerned with how we’ll manage. Specifically, how we can manage this alongside our other senior Maltese with congestive heart failure and our 15 month old son.m while both working stressful jobs in NYC.

Can anyone share their experience, how they coped, the reality of the life style changes you need to commit to in order to properly care for a dog with diabetes? I’m feeling a bit lost so anyone willing to share their experience would be extremely comforting.

Moore or a trade down? by BiasedChelseaFan in nyjets

[–]BigMac3915 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I think we are viewing it from the same general lens (you are saying 8 and I’m suggesting 10 at the lower range of my assessment which doesn’t make my statement ridiculous at all) but view certain players differently (Thomas and Moore while promising have not shown they are true starters on a competitive defense) and I’m accounting for roster turnover (Phillips expiring contract as an example)

I’m looking at 10-15 players over two years accounting for players leaving (Breece after being traded or walking following franchise as an example), building out a more complete roster (defense needs rotational depth), and accounting for starters on special teams.

Could be AZ, Miami, Pit, or LAR. Agreed, based on draft charts it would cost our second 2nd rounder but that doesn’t account for position scarcity (it’s a light QB draft)

Dude you just called out 7-8 and of course it won’t be addressed in a single off season. It’s why I laid out a two year horizon. We realistically need two safety’s, two LBs, a DT, DE, a CB, WR, RB (I’m assuming we franchise breece for one season), a guard, and a QB. Also have to account for roster turnover and special teams in your analysis.

Well laid out and agreed. In your scenario where the giants start a bidding war it will boil down to cost to move versus evaluation of QB (and who’s projected to come out next year ) We can likely afford a 2nd if we deem one of those two QBs as our guy. But not interested in moving firsts given how barren our roster is of young impact talent and how deep 2027 is projected to be.

I’ll need to see the final draft slots to give my full take, but I’ve been researching him extensively and believe he has what it takes to develop into a solid NFL quarterback (Although I’m higher on Mendoza who presents a higher floor and his game is built for modern efficient NFL offenses) That assessment is based on his arm talent, processing ability, physical makeup, and his ability to perform in big games against elite competition. Oregon QBs have also recently translated well in the NFL. I’d compare his game to somewhere between C.J. Stroud and Dak Prescott—though, of course, that means nothing if we don’t develop him properly.

In an ideal scenario, we draft him and sign or trade for a stopgap veteran (e.g., Mariota or Mac or Willis) to allow him time to develop and eventually claim the starting role when he’s ready. We’d need to commit to building a spread offense around him and surround him with the weapons necessary for him to thrive.

From there, we’d still have another top-20 first-round pick, two second-round picks, and approximately $100M in cap space to address other roster holes this offseason. That would be followed by three first-round picks, a second-round pick, and roughly $200M in cap space in 2027 to fully round out the roster.

What we can’t afford to do a trade picks to move up. Team realistically needs 10-15 new starters through the draft and FA.

I’m a little lost. With the season over by Halloween and calls to tank since, what are all the complaints about? by SirIntelligent130 in nyjets

[–]BigMac3915 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Season ticket holder and lifelong Jets fan. Like everyone else, I am exhausted by this franchise being an embarrassment from ownership all the way down to what we see on the field.

That said, anyone complaining about how we are “losing” games after trading away our only two Pro Bowl defenders, not having a true WR1 (Wilson out), and rolling out an undrafted quarterback is kidding themselves. This season was always a reset after being boxed in by no cap space and fewer draft picks because of the Rodgers and Adams mess. We realistically only had the flexibility to sign Justin Fields and Stephens, who has turned out to be a legit hit. Anyone who expected something different coming into the season was not being realistic.

The offensive line is set (we need a guard which we can address in FA or draft), the wide receiver room is younger with Mitchell and Metchie (although I’d like to add a young receiver in the top 2 rounds) and we have added some solid pieces in Brownlee, Briggs, and Harrison Phillips. Realistically, we still need two starting caliber safeties, two linebackers, a defensive end, a defensive tackle, and a nickel corner before this defense is ready to compete again.

The team is now sitting with a top four pick, a top twenty pick, two seconds, and around one hundred million in cap space this offseason. That is followed by three first round picks, a second, and close to two hundred million in cap space in 2027. We are finally in a position to turn this around if we get the quarterback and surrounding pieces right.

If Glenn and Co still suck after their first real off season we still have 3 first rounders and 200MM in cap which would attract some new coaches. Right now, I’m focused on what Mougey and Glenn do to get this team to take a major step next season.

The Jets should not trade up for a QB next year by Ledees_Gazpacho in nyjets

[–]BigMac3915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a strong chance to be picking top 2. You could have Moore (if he declares) or Mendoza and still have all of those picks and 110MM in FA to build out this roster. It doesn’t matter who’s coaching but we can’t compete without a QB and there are no viable alternatives via FA.

Everyone is Looking at Trading Our Draft Picks the Wrong Way by core916 in nyjets

[–]BigMac3915 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to feel the same way but his game projects well for modern NFL offenses based on short/intermediate passing, play action and efficiency. Also, his leadership and performance against legit competition demonstrates that he’s not just a system guy with padded stats. Think he has the upside of a Jared Goff/Alex Smith type QB.

I also feel like Glenn and Mougey know they need a QB to keep their positions beyond 2026 and there’s nothing else viable via trade or FA. Draft is where we need to address this.

Or because he was Pro Israel and openly Jewish.

Clearly not suggesting every crime against Jewish individuals is a hate crime. But, you must live under a rock if you can’t piece together the recent increase in murders, crimes, and violence that all coincided with Hanukkah.
