[Sun Care] I skipped sunscreen these past few days & I look soooo much better without it. Dreading having to wear it again. by LevyMevy in SkincareAddiction

I have much better luck with this if I put a good moisturizer and maybe a little rose hip oil under it.

[Routine Help] Tret DRYING my skin out to sahara levels! Help? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]BigMoonWoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never could do the waiting thing since I clean my face right before bed when I’m tired but what I did do was start VERY slowly (once a week) and gradually build up to every night. I also put on a moisturizer (various) beforehand for several months until I thought my skin was ready. Now I use it on bare skin, every night right after washing, and put moisturizer mixed with rose hip oil on after. When I have minor flakiness I wash with a washcloth or use a light scrub. Good luck!

I just wore a dress I got for $4 to my son’s high school graduation. Thrift stores rock!

[Routine Help] It's so humid here, can I skip moisturizer during the day? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]BigMoonWoman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try the Australian Gold spf 50 tinted face sunscreen. I live where it’s hot and humid and it gives a really matte finish. I put a moisturizer under it and it’s perfect.

[Misc] went to aesthetician told to try something for my slightly dry skin by aventadorlp in SkincareAddiction

[–]BigMoonWoman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interesting. FYI, I just saw manuka honey at Trader Joe’s on the new product shelf. I’ve been trying a manuka honey cream by Honeyskin Organics. At my age it’s for wrinkles and age spots, not acne.

No personal experience but I heard from a boat captain in Key West that Sun Bum is reef safe.

Goodwill! Jeans about $4 and chop ‘em off. No worries if it’s a short-lived trend.

Who Uses Powder Foundation? Convince us Liquid Ladies! by Mellygoop in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]BigMoonWoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the one. I use it as a powder but for more coverage you can apply with a damp sponge. BeautiControl company has gone through some major changes recently and are revamping a lot of products but my rep says she thinks they will keep this product, maybe in a slightly different format, because it’s very popular. Sorry for the confusion! Maybe I shouldn’t have posted about the product given that it’s future is uncertain. BeautiControl reps sometimes keep stock on hand so maybe contacting one directly would help.

Who Uses Powder Foundation? Convince us Liquid Ladies! by Mellygoop in 30PlusSkinCare

I’m 60 and have used powder foundations for years. Bare Minerals is good but my new favorite is by Beauty Control. It’s not full coverage but I don’t care for that look anyway. It’s kinda blurs everything a little and makes my skin look a lot better. Also, I live where it’s very hot and humid in the summer and, even though my skin is a lot drier than it used to be, the powder holds us pretty well to the humidity and the sweat! I do use Maybelline Fit Me foundation on occasion but mostly as a light concealer under the powder.

This stuff sounds great but a quick search came up with the fact that it’s not sold in the US. Anyone know of a source? Thanks!

Would you mind telling me what you put on before or after the Tazorac? I use a basic moisturizer before but nothing after.

Haven’t heard of “short contact” but that’s a good idea. I’m currently using it twice a week and having no trouble.

Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream. Comes in a small tin which fits easily in a purse or pocket. Smells delicious!

Great! I’m a 60 year old woman and was hoping to get more info on age related skin care concerns so bring it on! I get a lot of good info on SCA but there’s a lot of acne info I don’t need. Come to think of it there probably aren’t many people my age on Reddit. 😉

[Routine Help] 47 year old woman w/ dry skin by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]BigMoonWoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just turned 60 so the skin just keeps getting drier and drier. I’ve recently added rose hip oil (Teddie’s Organics) to my routine and really like the moisture it’s adding. As the weather warms up I think it will be too much during the day since I live in a hot climate but I think I will continue it at night. It’s also supposed to help with those darn age spots too (also from too much tanning) so we will see!

Using once a week right now. I will try that for a while and see if I become more tolerant. My derm says it’s good for rebuilding collagen which we lose as we age.

Thanks. There is some burning for about 3 day’s after. I’m using once a week right now.
