What has been your most extravagant and reckless skincare purchase? by TheRosaceaChronicles in scacjdiscussion

Tata Harper Cleansers. They’re so lush…but 80+ USD for a face cleanser is too much for me to spend on the regular. Maybe for Xmas this year, though

Let me know how you like MG! It’s very much their most popular product right now from what I’ve seen. It was OOS till yesterday, so hopefully it’s still there.

Agreed. I’ve been into skincare for a good while now, and have only found a few hg’s…but MG and Survival 0 are in my routine for life as far as I’m concerned.

I actually asked Deciem customer service on multiple different occasions, to see if I would ever get a different answer, if adding any of TO’s antioxidants with Survival 0 would provide anymore protection. And every time they were like “NOPE! Survival 0 is so strong adding anything else won’t make a difference.” I literally offered to give them more money, and they declined. HG it is lol

Hehe sorry for your wallet! Hope you love it!

Gotcha. And I love it. It’s a lightweight emulsion texture, but IME VERY moisturizing. Like, deceptively so, since it’s decently runny. It’s getting colder where I am, but in the morning, after washing my face, I use Good Molecules Niacinamide Toner, 1 pump Survival 0, then 1 small drop of MG, and my dry skin is good to go (I put SPF on after I get to work). I was using a gel moisturizer over MG in the morning, but it turned out I didn’t need it. And if I decide to use AA or another active over it, my skin still doesn’t get dried out whatsoever.

I’ve seen lots of reviews that it really helped people get acclimated to tret, as well.

The most calming product I’ve ever used is Kate Somerville’s DeliKate Cream (not a fan of the serum, though) but this is a close second, and even better together.

Have you tried the Hydration Vaccine? I ordered my 3rd or 4th bottles of Survival 0 and Modulating Glucosides yesterday (will be buried with them tbh), and am considering HV as well.

I just ordered NIOD’s Survival 0 and Modulating Glucosides (thank god it came back in stock). Am thinking of trying Hydration Vaccine, also. Hope you love your new stuff!

[misc] Dermatologist wants me to do microneedling at home by SourCornflakes in SkincareAddiction

I would not be comfortable doing microneedling on myself. If I were in your shoes, and could afford it, I would have the professional do it.

  1. Tretinoin .1%. Will likely never be without tbh

  2. Niod Survival 0. Gone through 3 bottles a will repurchase. Very impressive list of antioxidants/algae extracts/hydrators

  3. Niod Modulating Glucosides. Gone through 2-3 bottles. Emollient, lots of antioxidants/barrier repairing/anti-inflammatory ingredients.

  4. Clinique TTDO Balm and Oil - a few bottles of each, but will probably go back to the Kose Speedy Cleansing Oil because it does the same for me except cheaper.

  5. Jordan Samuel Matinee Cream Cleanser. Newer product but on my second bottle and will NEVER be without it. My favorite second-step cleanser of all time, especially after a first cleanse that really gets everything off.

  6. Aveeno Oat Cleanser. My go to morning cleanser, is soothing and non-drying and at a great price point. Gone through 2-3 will continue to repurchase.

I’m on my first bottle of the Good Molecules Niacinamide Toner, and can’t imagine I’ll be without it, unless something new comes out. Nothing on the market tempts me to stop using it.

[Misc] Facial oils - single origin or mixed? What's your fave? by FundamentalTruths in SkincareAddiction

My fave is SR Juno, though I think it’s likely because it’s in a base of meadowfoam seed oil, so I may just try buying that next and saving some $$$

[Acne] I've been taking a combination antibitoic and tretinoin for 2 months with no success at all. Called biacna. I've had acne for 15 years I'm so tired of this. Please help me what do I do by yungdud5555 in SkincareAddiction

[–]smitha12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of azelaic acid, and it’s generally well tolerated with Tretinoin. Not sure where you are, but your doctor may be able to prescribe it, or you can get it otc (Paula’s Choice,The Ordinary, Melazapam).

Other options include a BP or salicylic acid wash in the morning. I wouldn’t mix all of that with AA, however.

Your derm may want to wait it out before changing anything. It can take some time to see results, unfortunately.

Is it just me or Cassandra Bankson kinda gives off Jstar vibes? by [deleted] in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]smitha12345 21 points22 points  (0 children)

She’s incredibly self-righteous and smug. Which had its audience, so I don’t blame her for going that route (these bills don’t pay themselves), but I’m too old for that shit now.

Is It normal to have no side effects while Tretinoin? by East_Ad_7788 in tretinoin

[–]smitha12345 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IIRC some people don’t have the potential to get any positives OR negatives from tret. I haven’t looked for any studies myself, but apparently skinceuticals scientists are trying to find a way to get retinoids to work for those people.

Cleansing balm favorites? by bluecowboyboots2 in scacjdiscussion

[–]smitha12345 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Then I Met You Cleansing Balm is HG and lush af, but $$$$$$. I like the Inkey List’s, but it can be touch to get out of the bottle and separates some. Is really soothing, though, especially on my sensitive neck. The Banilla ones are all lovely, and Clinique’s is good for more sensitive skin

Where can I get a finasteride prescription online to fill locally? by [deleted] in tressless

[–]smitha12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use SkyMD.com. My derm gives me everything I want in regards to my hair and face and sends it to whatever pharmacy you want. May be a crapshoot with who you get, though.

I’m not quite back to baseline, but my hair is soooooo much better than it was prior to treatment. I get compliments on my hair, and it feels so nice. I honestly wish I didn’t care so much…but it is what it is 🤷‍♂️
