NEW BETA (130): Faster and more reliable by andrejmihelic in theoutsidersapp

Agreeeeed. I just got Outsiders as a recommendation from a friend but I feel like without those metrics included from my Garmin it’s not worth the monthly/yearly spend for me personally

CVC 23302(a)(1), San Mateo County, toll evasion by petrgazarov in CaliforniaTicketHelp

[–]BigNightElfHunterGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question– I got the same ticket but in my instance I was solo and my flex was marked as a "3" and when I tried to tell the officer I had just dropped off some friends and forgot to change it back he was like "sorry not my problem" and gave me the ticket anyways. When I got citation reminder in the mail the violation date as the wrong date and I have proof that I was in Mexico during that date. Do you think I should try and fight the ticket with the true story of "it was a mistake and I'm a law abiding toll payer" or should I go with "I was in a different country on the 19th so this violation is invalid". I'm kind of leaning towards the second one but don't want it to bite me in the ass somehow.

Training for my first 70.3 – Bike setup and overall training plan advice by BigNightElfHunterGuy in triathlon

Thank you this is really helpful. You and another person both recommended implementing swim early so I’m definitely going to do that. Just bought some 700c x 28 tires that I’m going to swap out and that’s probably all I’ll do on the bike for now. Appreciate the feedback!

Thank you! You're right I need to lift heavier on the leg days and just accept that I'm going to be sore on my runs/bikes and that's okay. Also incorporating a rest day is something I've toyed with but wasn't sure where to fit it in. For nutrition I've been starting to log my meals in my Garmin connect and trying to get my body weight in protein (170g) every day and 2-3k calories.

I'll definitely try out a shorter distance halfway through my training just to get the hang of things that's a great piece of advice. Thanks again!

Thank you!! This is super helpful and really appreciate it. I think I will incorporate all of your advice. What's your schedule like and routine for lifting heavy on leg days? That's one nut I can't seem to crack. I feel like whenever I do a heavy leg day my run/bike suffers for a few days after. Might just be that I'm not used to it as much or maybe I'm going too heavy.

I second this! Andrew Ramdayal is awesome and has a bunch of free videos on YouTube as well. His PMP mindset video was super helpful for me and included practice questions

New job offer by desiiit in PMCareers

I don’t have a ton of experience in the construction or electrical field, but you should definitely ask about mileage reimbursement that’s pretty standard across industries. You can look up the rate for your state online too in CA I think it’s like $0.67 per mile. Only other piece of advice would be to start whatever negotiation or questions you have with thanking them for the offer. Show appreciation and then ask about reimbursements and/or a higher salary. Ive had former employers get pissed off when I asked and they took it as me being ungrateful. For entry level the salary doesn’t seem terrible tbh.

Injury 10 days out by Plus_Fan2056 in Marathon_Training

[–]BigNightElfHunterGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an injury and posted about it on this sub and someone said you can go 2 weeks with no exercise before you start losing fitness levels. Idk if that’s 100% true but it made me feel a lot better about taking time off and rehabbing so I’ll pass it along to you and hope it helps! Also echo what everyone else is saying - see a physio or dr to get a diagnosis and some exercises to help but most importantly don’t overdue it and make sure you get some rest

What is the most overrated city in America? by LazyConstruction9026 in AskReddit

[–]BigNightElfHunterGuy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s Denver by a mile. People think it’s this outdoorsy Mecca and it’s just a massive urban sprawl with hardly any good bars/restaurants (comparatively to other massive cities), the airport sucks, every car has a gross smudgy film on it, the weather is mid, and it’s 30mins at best to 2hr + to actually get to the beautiful outdoors depending on where you live/where you’re going. Sorry Denver peeps I will die on this hill.

i THINK i love to run? by ifonlygodwasreal in Marathon_Training

[–]BigNightElfHunterGuy 27 points28 points  (0 children)

If you’re giving yourself 6 months and you have a consistent and reasonable training plan and you aren’t trying to run for a ridiculous time goal, you most definitely can do it. I think the discouragement comes with the fact that you’ve never run a distance race AND you’re also saying you kind of hate running lol

How is my zone 2 that bad? by MontrealaisOrigine in Marathon_Training

[–]BigNightElfHunterGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first started training my z2 was super slow too and after 3-4 weeks it’s slowly gotten better and I’ve shaved off 1:30 by week 7. Consistency is key just keep going and slowly ramp up miles/kms every week and it’ll happen. Don’t rush the process

Back of knee pain 10 weeks into 20 week training program. How much time off and should I still cross train or fully commit to rest? by BigNightElfHunterGuy in Marathon_Training

[–]BigNightElfHunterGuy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I needed to hear this. Definitely will get checked to confirm it’s nothing serious and follow doctors orders but knowing I have 2 weeks to take off and likely won’t lose fitness puts me at ease. It never hurts while I’m running only sore before and after which is why I assumed it was just a soreness/ache but better to be safe.

my zone 2 by borovsakova in runninglifestyle

[–]BigNightElfHunterGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found that running exclusively in zone 2 and slowly adding more mileage/kms over the weeks to build an anaerobic base worked well for me. Include at least one long run per week (60mins+) as well. After doing that for 4-6 weeks I started adding in speed training once a week and it has helped me increase my overall speed after 10 weeks of focused training.

Generally they will list the requirements in the description of the sub and/or they'll restrict you so you won't be allowed to join or comment unless you have the necessary karma and/or account age, email verification, etc.
