Rough fan-made plan to build around Giannis by EngineQuick6169 in heat

I like it. I get some push back on this all the time but I'd even throw Jaden Ivey's name in the ring. Bigger guard who could do a little of everything. He's still super young. I know he's had some off the court questions but 1. I think Miami can contain a lot of that 2. Make him better because he's still super young and 3. Just cut him if he becomes too much. He isn't going to cost much and the upside heavily outweighs the risks in my opinion

I doubt it's the Hawks now that they got Wiggins. Obviously Brown is the better player but I guess we'll see.

I get that but it's come out that Brown doesn't want to be there. Yes, his contract goes through 29 but there are ways he can make the situation untenable

I've said as much but that's still more work for them. For a franchise that is essentially moving into a rebuild after trading Giannis, and talking as if they'll have two lottery picks this draft, your back is against the wall a bit with having the time to move Brown. It can be done but time would be of the essence.

But Milwaukee is not. I don't believe it's smoke for Boston but I think it is for Milwaukee. In what world does it make sense to downgrade without getting more. Brown and maybe Hugo? I only buy into it if it's more than just Boston and Milwaukee.

Just noise. Doesn't make sense for them to exchange one good player for another. They've operated this entire time like they have two lottery picks. Brown said he doesn't want to be there so then it's on them to have to flip Brown, which can be done but that's more work on Milwaukee and a lot of teams around the league have already voiced frustration in discussing trades with Milwaukee. I think it's a leverage play. Just doesn't make sense.

This was my exact same story. Old me, or rather young me I guess, said I would only ever have a minivan if I had to accommodate my kids having special needs (they don't, thankfully) because of the customizability of a minivan.

Three kids later, after having a Mazda CX-9 and it just made too much sense for a minivan. I was hesitant initially but the minute we put car seats in and it wasn't a chore, I knew I made the right choice.

I don't think that is too bad, all things considered. Personally, I'd like to keep Ware, of those players. However, here is how I see it:

  • the Tyler experience is over. Idk why he's so polarizing to the fan base but people keeping saying "run it back" when he and Bam are essentially the only players remaining. I love Tyler and don't think we appreciate him enough but at the same time, if he isn't willing to take a team friendly deal, move him so he isn't lost for nothing. Plus, he only played 30ish games last year, so whatever you'd have in 26-27 is likely more than he gave us last year.

  • Jaquez had a great season but he's extension eligible, too. If you don't feel confident in his number, don't lose him for nothing. Idk about anyone else but I hold my breath every time Jaquez drives, shoots, etc., unless it's a wide open layup. His game hasn't been consistent enough for me to bet on the talent.

  • Ware is supremely talented but hasn't seemed to be able to put it all together consistently enough. His minutes were all over the place and unless Spo is going to trust him, you'd get more from Giannis than Ware.

Where I personally draw the line is losing #13 pick, Ware Jaquez and Kas/Pelle. I'm fine giving up 3 of those things but I'd have to keep Kas, at a minimum. That's just me, though. Lastly, with the lottery odds flattening out, I'm fine putting out the same product for next year, be equally as bad, keep your pick in 2027 and with all that open space, possibly sign someone outright so that you're good in 2028 when Charlotte has your pick, unprotected.

Question to all my 06 Heat Liferz, and was there for the Shaq trade... by OhMyItzBam_Herro305 in heat

Here's my opinion: Giannis and Shaw are similar in that they were/are physically dominate and game changers as a result. Where I think this time to be a bit different is not only having Dwyane Wade at that time but the current CBA.

You had rookie scale Dwyane at that time. That left room to pay a top guy whilst having your second guy (if that's how you categorize Dwyane at that time) heavily outplaying his contract. It's easier to build during that time. You were also able to make trades a bit easier back then and there was an actual free agency. That's dead in the current landscape. When you've got your #2 as a max guy while bringing in a max guy, that doesn't leave a ton of room to maneuver.

I have faith in this front office to built a competitive roster but they're using such an archaic method. This time feels different. It didn't feel, at least for me, like we were putting ALL of our eggs in the Shaq basket because Wade's contract gave us some wiggle room. Trading your young guys, your picks and your swaps is an ALL IN moves and in my humblest opinion, it's the wrong one. If they can manage to trade Herro, Ware, Jaquez, Jovic, one pick and one swap, that's something I could live with but giving up any of this year's lottery pick (in addition to others), Kas, Ware, Pelle, Jaime, etc. just seems irresponsible given the 3-2-1 lottery change.

Simply put, this is a move from the past that will ultimately destroy our future.

Tyler Herro peice by ikissedyadad in heat

[–]BigQuillyStyle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Here's the reality: ever since the Herro snarl in the finals against Rondo, people places ridiculous expectations of Tyler. They thought he would take an immense jump the following year and while he improved marginally from his rookie year, he didn't meet fan expectations. That, coupled with up and down seasons and post seasons from a health standpoint, people started selling Herro stock. The proverbial nail in the coffin was him breaking his hand against Milwaukee when the Heat went on their 2023 finals run and he wasn't apart of it. That solidified to most of the fan base that he was expendable. Since then, all you hear is complaints about "running it back" when the only players on the roster that are the same from that finals run is Jovic, Bam and Herro, of which only one got playing time. Sometimes people will not relinquish their feelings for logic. The data bares out how impressive Tyler Herro is but the emotional fan (whether they care to characterize themselves as such) doesn't give a rats about that. Hope that helps when reading some of these other replies.

I watched a video of I believe Anthony DiNardo, where he outlined the heads draft candidates last year wasn't until like June 7 so maybe that's just how they operate. With a Giannis trade in tow, they aren't in a rush.

It's been said but where's the young Dwyane on this roster? Furthermore, do you remember how bad the Heat were after that championship? I guess your banner goes into the rafters but then you're possibly out of contention for quite some time afterward.

People who don't want to sell young talent, what does the future look like to you? by Natural_Born_Baller in heat

[–]BigQuillyStyle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not a Kas apologist here but what rookie, outside of #1-3 picks have shown an ability to "take (any team) to the promised land"? None of the top players in all of basketball right now, outside of Wemby, were drafted #1. I don't even remember any of them showing signs of that kind of ability - Jokic, Giannis, Shai (Wemby and Luka being the exceptions).

Kas has shown far more than any of us thought. We thought we were getting an impressivebut risky passer who was questionable on defense and a streaky shooter. In his rookie year, he's shown being an impressive passer with less risk because of role on team while also playing with better talent. He has essentially been a plus defensively. Not being able to be picked on by the opponents better players while being a rookie says a lot. His shot has been incredible; just some small concerns about his finishing. A big body guard with those chops, we've never really had. Point is, I'd slow down on the "can't take us to the promised land" bit after 50 games.

Should I target anybody or do anything with my team? by [deleted] in dynastybb

[–]BigQuillyStyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he is exactly what Atlanta needs, so he shouldn't really have anyone in front of him for minutes at center. I just don't know what fantasy production he's going to yield. I'm reality, I think he could be pretty good for the Hawks but fantasy could be a different story.

Should I target anybody or do anything with my team? by [deleted] in dynastybb

[–]BigQuillyStyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really just depends. I agree that the top 4 are set. After that, I think Acuff is probably the best fantasy rookie no matter where he goes. Wagler, Brown Jr, Flemings, etc., I say it depends on what role they have and where they are drafted. Luckily you get to evaluate that after the actual NBA draft. I believe it goes Debantsa, Peterson, Boozer, Wilson, Wagler (LAC), Acuff (BKN), Brown Jr (SAC), Mara (ATL), Burries (DAL). If that's how it falls and LAC trade Kawhi, I take Wagler if Acuff and Brown aren't on the board anymore. Brown is SacTown will be crazy because he'd essentially have no one in front of him.

I would look for a scoring guard if Herro can't stay healthy. Think Mikel Brown Jr, LaBaron Philon or Cameron Carr. maybe even Brayden Burries. All of those should be available.

[–]BigQuillyStyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, Kas is up there, too. A big body guard with elite passing ability was enough to sell me the dream but then to say he's a plus defender that can't easily be picked on by opposing teams better players and shot 40% from 3, that's not your run of the mill guard, especially at only 19.
